I was Naked with Deborah Lippmann in Review

Naked is the look of the season. for eyes, we have Urban Decay's Naked Palette and the newest introduction to nail polish is Naked by nail artist Deborah Lippmann. This is a fabulous color. It starts off with a coverage that is not quite sheer but not opaque and full, either. At the second coat, you find a delicious Naked color forming. With this polish, two coats are enough but you may find a slight hint of visible nail line depending on how you've applied it. Because I applied the polish at night, in a room that was not well lit, I decided to put a third coat, just to be sure the coverage was what I wanted. What you see in the photo is three coats, but I would have been fine with two.

The polish is deliciously shiny on it's own, but I did apply a coat of Seche Vita, (my first time using it!), over the top. It really does dry quickly!! I purchased this polish at Nordstrom, but it can be found wherever Deborah Lippmann polishes are carried, such as her own website and I think this polish looks great on my NW20-25 skin, and will look equally as well when I have the opportunity to get a bit of a tan.

OPI Houston We Have A Purple Sorbet Nails

From the beginning of the OPI announcements regarding the Texas Collection, I had Houston We Have A Purple on my list. Maybe because I studied physics in college and I wanted to go work at NASA, maybe because I like pinky-purpley colors, I don't really know, but this is my manicure with this polish. My pictures show some shadowing that make it look like I didn't clean up the manicure, but I promise you, I did.

The polish applied like a dream. I has a lovely shine to it. It would have been ok with two coats, but I applied three for a little stronger coverage. I found that the color was very difficult to photo graph accurately, it comes out redder in photos than it really is. It's more of a slightly reddened raspberry than an actual purple. I am wearing China Glaze for a top coat.

I find this particular color is wearing very well. I applied the polish four days ago and have very minimal wear, like none, which is a miracle because I got new Invisalign trays Wednesday and they are very tight, so it takes a lot of prying with forefingers and middle fingers on both hands. Two thumbs up for this new sorbet finish polish from OPI.

Mac Wonder Woman Pink Power MSF...My Preeeeciousssss...

It happened. I wore my MSF immune suit when I went to Nordstrom to see the rest of the Wonder Woman collection that I hadn't already ordered. I felt confident that I would turn my nose up at the gargantuan sized MSFs of this collection. Rediculous, they are, my inner Yoda told me. And how does a pancake sized powder travel? Yes, I sprayed myself with MSF repellant.

I saw Pink Power. I picked it up.

As it turns out, Pink Power MSF is the kryptonite to my anti-msf wearing suit. I applied it to my face, using the bronzer as such, the pink on the apples as blush, and the light color as a highlight. And it happened. I heard the angels sing. My knees were weak as I realized how closely I had come to missing this work of wonder.

All I have right now is a bad hand swatch cuz I forgot to take a picture of it on my face, but trust me, I was glorious. :) Click to uber-size the swatch.

If this product interests you at all, you can find it online at Nordstrom. Mac online sold out shortly after they launched it, but I imagine other places like Macys and Dillards will have it online, too. My counter only got six in, so how I beat the cosmetics workers on the floor to this product, I'll never know.

Let's Play Where's Wonder Woman!!

Ok, these are the rules...guess which one is a Wonder Woman lipglass and guess which one is a toe. The toe has no polish to make the game a little more challenging. Ready....go!

Final Review of Chanel Ombre Perlees de Chanel Palette and a Surprise!

Remember this gorgeous palette, the buzz of late December and early January:

I have tried this palette every which way but loose. Applied over many different bases, used wet, used over other powder shadows, applied with brushes or with name it, I've tried it.

Check the glorious pearly colors swatched on my arm:

And here comes the big surprise! Check it out packed on my eyelid:

Where's the color? I know, right? I swear I tried everything and I could get no color out of this quint, except for the green, which was to die for. The luscious violet was grey, hello GREY, on my lids. Color me disappointed. The light peach was kinda a light pink on my lids, kinda. The highlight color...well, I have others that actually highlight.

Don't get me wrong, this works for so many people with fabulous pearly results, I just wasn't one of them. And I love, love, love the rest of the after Christmas pearly color story because I bought it all, but sadly, I just couldn't work the star pupil of the class.

China Glaze Tronica Nail Polish Techno Teal and a Coach Poppy

I had to check out a China Glaze Tronica polish when changing my manicure. I decided to match one to one of my favorite Coach Poppy bags. Tough choice as all the polishes match that particular bag. :)))) At any rate, chose Techno Teal for my first Tronica nail "do".

This polish applies well, being somewhat thick, you could probably get away with one coat. I did two. There is no topcoat applied in these pictures. This is a new kind of holographic look in that I think you have to have direct sun or a flashlight to show the true holo look. My clouds tell me there won't be sun for at least two days but I did see holo with a flashlight. There is no holo without. I will probably put something else over it today or change it to something a little more flashy which, happily, will still match my Coach Poppy!!!

I have taken some pictures in the ambient light from the window. And I apologize for not cleaning it up totally, but I've decided that I'm not finished with the manicure yet.

Review and Swatches of Mac Mighty Aphroditie Blush with an Ego Eye

Welcome to Mac Wonder Woman Mighty Aphroditie Blush.

First of all, the blush is huge compared to other Mac blushes. It is the size of a regular MSF, (not to be confused with the Wonder Woman MSFs which are steroid sized). The blush contains two colors which can be used seperately or together. I swatched them together and seperately on my arm, but they didn't apply well. Nevertheless, I subject you to this swatch:

Upon application, the first thing I noticed is the difference between the textures of the two colors. The lighter peach is SO ubersoft that it is real dusty with the first hint of touch from a brush. Wow, is it soft. If you live in a really arid climate, I think this might have some powder flying around when you use it. The darker color is hard as a rock. I would guess the thought on this is that you will be wearing more of the lighter color with less of the darker if you mix the two. I like to color outside the lines so I applied each seperately today, using the dark color somewhat as a contour, and skipping my usual contour or bronzer all together. It ended up something like this:

Total awesomeness at how my cell phone made the big shadow on my lips, which were Marquis D' and Emancipation lipglass.

I also took photos in the house next to the window with ambient light, which lok like this:

I was super happy to break out my Mac Mega Metal shadows today, especially Ego, which was a quite a convoluted challenge for me to get ahold of, and matched it with Dalliance....and this is the result, again, a quickie application cuz I had places to get to:

I have to mention that when I went to apply Emancipation, I laughed cuz I just couldn't get over the idea of applying a toe to my lips and wondering what my friends would think when I pulled this out after lunch for a reapplication. Plus, I carry small purses and this thing hogs my phone area, calling for some reorganization. Yes, I believe the mega-sized lipglass' will require some additional work on my part.

Quick View of China Glaze Tronica Polishes

I didn't purchase the yellow or the yellow toned green simply because I don't really wear those colors EXCEPT under Black Shatter, but I already have the Serena Williams so I didn't think that they were needed. Nail swatches when I get bored of this:

Mac Lightful Collection Lipglasses and Swatches

I ordered three of the new Mac Lightful Lipglasses. I skipped the one that is predominantly white because it's just not interesting to me. I purchased Atmospheric, Ethereal and Astro Cool. They are pictured below in this order:

These lipglasses are designed to be sheer and sparkly giving shine and accent to other colors, more than being a stand alone gloss. I love a blue accent gloss because it makes your mouth look pouty and moist, amplifying your lips, even if they're of the thinner variety. I would love if there was a green colored gloss as a sheer with green is absolute dynamite over orange or coral. And yet, I digress.

You see here, (along with my Opi Katy Perry Teenage Dream nails), swatches on my hand, again in the same order.

All of these glosses have multi-colored sparkles, including blues, reds, silvers, and pinks. These are gorgeous to look at, but I haven't worn them yet to tell you any suggested combinations. I do love this type of sheer multi-sparkly gloss.

It's time to Shatter My OPI Teenage Dream with OPI Black Shatter!!

I have just really enjoyed wearing my OPI Katy Perry Teenage Dream polish. I've gotten so many compliments on the manicure, you just wouldn't believe it. It also matches my iphone case, an added bonus. But after six days, I figured it's time to apply the Black Shatter. I've been dying to Shatter, but I love the Teenage Dream so much on it's own, it was a difficult decision. But I tell you what, I can't wait to crackle over a neon.

One of my favorite methods of creating a painting was to crackle and antique it when done, so this is something that really appeals to me as an artist. As I applied the Black Shatter, it dried quickly. Very quickly and crackled quickly as it dried. I applied Orly top coat over it and then China Glaze quick dry. My nails are all over the map in brands today. :)

I'm sad that my pictures don't accurately show the sparkly goodness beneath the crackle. Once I put on the top coat, the glitter of Katy Perry really shown thru the cracks. It is absolutely gorgeous in person, but here are the best photos I could get.

I have a party tomorrow and it will be fun to have the hippest nails there. And I just can't WAIT to do another Black Shatter sometime soon!

Mac Wonder Woman Defiance Quad and Eye Swatch

This is the Mac Defiance Eye Quad from the new Womnder Woman collection. What I really like about this quad over some other pink quads that I have is that you have everything you need for a rosy pink toned eye look without having to add a random shadow to complete your look. So many quads have two or three shadows that work and then you still need a shadow or two to finish the look you're aiming for. Click the above thumbnail to see the quad larger.

I was able to do my eyes today with just this quad, my lovely Mac Raven eye kohl, and finish it off with Mac Plush Lash, my go-to mascara. I was in a huge hurry, but it worked for my trip to the dentist as well as passing the husband test. :)

Here is an eye to either scare you or give you an idea of the quad in practical application. My eye look concentrated the medium toned mauvey-rose on the lid because I was just dying to use that color. I think most people may use that for the crease, but I adore the color. The deep color is in the outer edge and the lower lid.

Today I used a MUFE aqua cream 13 as base in the inner lid and into the crease a little. On 2/3 of my eye, I used Buxom Schnauzer for a base. Normally, I use one of the Champale paint pots or Nars smudgeless shadow base.

Mac Wonder Woman Spitfire Lipstick & Athena's Kiss lipglass Lip Swatches!

I almost never see any lip swatches on someone of my coloring and particular skin shade. If you're in the same boat as I am, (NW 20-25), maybe you'd like to see these on. Don't be afraid of the brights. These colors are very wearable for lighter skintones. (Ok, I have a little bit of a tan, but still....)

This is an arm swatch of Marquis 'D which we've seen before alongside Spitfire. Ok, a hand swatch. I find that for myself, lip products swatch truer if I swatch them at the base area of my thumb.

And here's the lovelies in all their glory. Marquis D' first, then Spitfire. Click the thumbnails to see them larger, if you wish.

Here I am wearing Spitfire lipstick alone, (the funny bumps on my teeth are where my Invisalign trays hook up, you know, brace-less braces):

Next, I applied Athena's Kiss over it. Ok, these are huge whopping lipglasses. It's like putting a toe to your lip. Seriously. If you can get over that, it's a gorgeous color.

Here is a comparison in size of Emancipation with a regular sized lipglass. I mean, you've seen all the pictures, but you can't believe it till you see it in person.

So the combination of Spirtfire and Athena's Kiss, on a lighter skinned person, looks like this:

My little black box of Mac Wonder Woman goodness!

Photobucket won't let me bulk upload so after I pull all my hair out to upload each picture one at a time, I will add them.

OPI Pink of Hearts, Katy Perry Teenage Dream and Breast Cancer Support

Here is a mani on it's fifth day, which is headed for a shot of crackle via OPI Black Shatter...but before I do so, I'll show you the gloriousness and that which has earned me the coolest compliments of the week.

It begain with a color issued to support Breast Cancer Research, OPI Pink of Hearts. It's a light frosted pale pink. It is glorious on it's own but I chose to start my road to crackling via Black Shatter with this polish because the swatches I've seen of Teenage Dream has made it look a little sheer. And I adore the glitteryness of Teenage Dream, thus I wanted to wear that alone for a few days and let my inner 14 year old thrive off the sparkles before I indulge my crafty side and hit the art of crackle with my much anticipated Black Shatter. I just wanted a little more of an opaque color to start, so I used one coat of the special color OPI Pink of Hearts, part of the October polishes which OPI released to support Breast Cancer Research.

The picture is blurred, but it gives you an idea of the color that was used. If you've seen this color in person, it applies as true as it looks in the bottle.

Next I uncorked the lust of my desire of over a month, Teenage Dream. I wanted this baby BAD! I applied two coats. I have had such great covereage that I delayed my application of Black Shatter, (which I am dying to do), because even after five days, there is literally ZERO tip wear. And I wear invisalign, so I have to use my first two nails on both hands several times a day to pry those puppies off my teeth so I can eat and brush and all that. This polish wears like a dream, (truth AND pun intended). And by the way, I did NOT use a topcoat because my intension is to crackle this, so the shine is pure OPI. My result thus far looks like this:

(pictures should be clickable to view in a larger size)

Don't pass up this Katy Perry OPI collection. The colors are fabulous. The wear is fabulous and it's just a joy to look at the pretty colors in the bottles.
