Mac Hey, Sailor Blushes Fast Fleet and Launch Away Pics, Swatches and Review

The Mac Hey, Sailor! Collection includes two blushes, which I'm going to show you today. Both are labeled by Mac as satin formulas and both come in nautical looking packaging like the other items in the collection.

Fast Fleet is on the left and Launch Away! is on the right.

When I first read the descriptions on the Mac website, I was pretty sure I'd like Fast Fleet. It is described as a pinky golden coral. I like coral for the cheeks, I was a little worried about the golden part of it. Launch Away! is described as a true peach. That also concerned me as my face is good with coral but not with a true peach. I took a chance and I'm glad I did.

The swatch of Fast Fleet was immediately pleasing. I don't see gold, which is good for me. I don't always like blush that has golden shimmer. The swatch of Launch Away! scared me half to death. It looks so chalky!! And so pale!! And I didn't really see peach in it. It was more of a white-pink toned whitish peach. Oh, I've heard of white peaches...that must be what they were talking about!!!

I was thrilled with Fast Fleet and knew it would be a quick favorite, and scared by Launch Away! I almost didn't try it, and if it wasn't for this blog, I might not have, but I'm glad I did. I actually really like it.

Launch Away doesn't apply like a typical Mac satin blush, but more like a matte. The first time I used it, I put it on the apples of the cheeks, with Fast Fleet along the cheekbones, and it seemed so dry that I lightly misted Fix+ over it and really liked the end result. I posted the picture in this post featuring the Hey, Sailor! eyeshadows.

I have since used Launch Away! by itself as the main blush of the day with a little Chanel Sable Beige bronzer, and I found it to be a nice flush of color, without even needing that spritz of Fix+. I never ever could have thought this blush would work for me based on description or swatch, but trying it on my face, I was pleasantly surprised. It's not just a highlight for darker skintones, like you might naturally assume, but provides a really natural color, despite it's apparent chalkiness in a swatch.

I'm really surprised that I am giving both blushes a thumbs up recommendation, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it!
