Fight Like A Girl!!! Fight To Win!! Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It's a time when products and people turn pink to bring awareness to this devastating disease with the promise of raising money, support and awareness, and ultimately, the hope of more effective treatments, longer lifespans and perhaps a cure. You'll see brands and bloggers bonding together with swatches of pink in memory of the men and women who have fought this brave and brutal fight and in the hope of helping those currently in it.

The call across the globe is Fight Like A Girl. I have to add the call to Fight To Win!!  Fight like a cage fighter in the battle of a lifetime because that's what breast cancer is.  I will dedicate many posts this month to the valiant warriors who have made a difference in my life while being afflicted by this devastating disease. I'll be joining with other bloggers to encourage you to show your pink support.

October on Polarbelle will  feature our usual random collection of cosmetic posts as well as a Halloween series, but of the utmost importance today is to tell you about my upcoming dedicated posts to take a moment to THINK PINK.

Sation Blue Sky's The Limit & Sun Worship-Her Nail Polish Swatches

Remember when I first showed you the Sation Little Horse on the Prairie Collection by Miss Professional Nail?  Today I have two nail polishes from that collection to share with you that I hope you'll enjoy.  They are, from left to right, Sun Worship-Her and Blue Sky's The Limit.

Sun Worship-Her is a reddened orange color. It applies very smoothly and has complete coverage in just two coats. It's got beautiful coverage and is so shiny, like a fresh blood orange. It's an absolutely perfect polish in this color range.

Next is Blue Sky's The Limit. A perfect image of a blue sky on a summer day is what you will see when you look at this color. It's a beautiful fresh light blue. Again, I had a wonderful application with just two coaats. In the picture I can see what almost looks like streaks of incomplete coverage but it's just the reflection of my red camera. There was no streaking visible to my eyes whatsoever.

Below, I have a swatch wheel with the same colors and I'm With The Bandana from the Nailstock Collection on the left.

I want to follow up by telling you about something that I'm REEEEEAAAAALLLY excited about and have been looking forward to since I saw the Miss Pro Nail booth at Cosmoprof.  They have just released some of these wonderful unique glitter nail polishes on their website.  You can find them here.
Miss Professional Nail offers Sation nail polishes for just $5.00 each with the new glitters retailing at a cost of $7.00.  Please review my previous post with all the glitter pictures; it might help you to find the ones you want.  I left drool at their booth, I swear, so I'm super excited to see these collections coming out now.  And I don't know who names their polishes, but whoever they are, they are one hilarious person!!!
Which is your favorite of the Sation Collections?  Nailstock, Little Horse On The Prairie, Glitters 1 or a previous collection?

(The polishes featured in this post were provided by PR.  Please see my disclosure policy for more information.)

Have You Seen The Orly Spellbound Collection For Halloween?

Orly has a collection out for Halloween called Spellbound. I first saw these this past summer at Cosmoprof in Las Vegas and reported on them after I returned home.  I think I have been pretty patient waiting for Sally's to get this collection, Fired Up and Pretty In Pink.  They're all drool worthy and you can see them in that post.  Anyway, it's time people!!!  Bring on the Spellbound!!!!

I got this information from the company.  I think it's clever.

Halloween is right around the corner and while it may not be appropriate to wear a costume to the office, sporting spooky and spirited nails is an easy and fun way to celebrate. Whether a gory goblin or a devilish villain, ORLY has a wide range of polishes ideal for Halloween festivities.

The ORLY Spellbound trio from the new Flash Glam FX collection adds a touch of glitz and glam to fingertips with chunky, Halloween-inspired glitters

Orly Spellbound Nail Polish

The FX lacquers retail for $10 each and the regular line are $8.50. You can find these and more gorgeous Orly nail polishes at Sally Beauty Supply and online at Orly Beauty.  You can follow Orly on Twitter and be sure to enter their Dark Shadows Giveaway on Facebook.
So are you ready to release that inner Fall Fanatic?  I know I am.  And I'm getting impatient waiting!!!  I mean to the point of embarassment, calling Sally's twice a week to check.  :p  Be sure to view my previous post to see the lovely collections Orly has for fall and holiday 2012.

Butter London Queen Vic Nail Polish and Lipgloss Duo Swatches, Pics, Review

So I saw the Butter London Lips and Tips duos, (matching nail polish and lipgloss), and was kind of intrigued.  Matching lipgloss to nail polish was something I hadn't experienced before because I'm always experimentin with one or the other and wear a different lip color just about every day.  So to me, the idea of matchy matchy was foreign and something I just had to try, although I had some concerns about Butter London Lippy lipgloss.  (My first experience didn't go very well.)  I believe in second chances, so I picked up the duo of Queen Vic to try and find out if "it's better with Butter."

Butter London, Queen Vic Nail Polish, Lippy, Lipgloss

I didn't notice in the store that they weren't an exact match because I was hyper to purchase them, but at home, I could tell that the lipgloss was slightly lighter in color. You can barely tell in the picture but it is.

Two coats of nail polish later and I'm in love with a deep berry nail polish called Queen Vic.

Butter London, Queen Vic, Nail Polish, swatch, review

I was so thankful that the flavor of the Lippy gloss is different than the first one I'd tried. It tastes great. No band-aid flavor. I found Queen Vic Lippy to be a nice fuchsia lipgloss.

Butter London, Queen Vic, Lipgloss, Swatch

So do I have matching lips and tips?

Butter London, Queen Vic, Lipgloss, Nail Polish, Swatches, review

Not exactly. But I do have a good duo of coordinating "sister" colors. I also think that on a person with darker lip pigmentation, these colors might well be a closer match. But who really cares? It's a fun fabulous duo and I like both colors and both items. Just color me happy.

Butter London, Queen Vic, Nail Polish, Lipgloss, swatches, review

You can find these duos at NordstromBeauty.comButter London, Ulta, and wherever else Butter London may be sold.  The nail polishes are Big 3 free and retail for $14 USD and the Lippy lipgloss is $17.00.

Have you tried matching lips and tips? What's your favorite color to match?

Cult Nails Doppleganger, Alter Ego, and Deception Nail Polish Swatches and Manicure

You might remember when I previously introduced you to the Deceptive Collection from Cult Nails.  There are five really fun color changing nail polishes that look completely different on the nail than they do in the bottle and really are quite deceiving.

Cult Nails, Deceptive Collection, nail polish

So what I wanted to do for a manicure one day was use Doppleganger, the color that looks white in the bottle but actually comes out as a blue tint, on four nails and another on as an accent nail.
In the following swatch wheel picture, Doppleganger is on the far left.

Cult Nails, Deceptive Collection, nail polish, swatches

I thought it would be super awesome to have the olive green, Alter Ego, as an accent nail. Good idea, right? Those two colors would set each other off well. Here's Alter Ego in the bottle. You would never suspect it of being an olive toned overcoat.

Cult Nails, Alter Ego, Nail Polish, Deceptive Collection

So I started with a base coat of Nevermore.  I can't emphasize this enough...all black nail polishes are NOT the same.  When you use Nevermore, you'll never use another black polish again.  It's rich, it's decadent and it applies perfectly.  It's truly an amazing polish and there's no other pure black that looks as beautiful, nor as shiny, nor as rich as Nevermore.   For something that seems so simple, it's just really impressive.  Trust me and just get it.  You won't regret it.

Anyway, I used one coat over Nevermore and put a coat of Doppleganger over the top of four nails, leaving the ring nail open to be my accent.  And here's where the plan diverts.  I grabbed Deception by accident.  Deception looks peachy in the bottle, but is a purple over coat.

Cult Nails, Deception, Nail Polish

And then I freaked out and put Alter Ego over the top anyway. And I got something great. The two combined to a taupe toned plum that I really really liked. My huband even commented on what a great color of accent nail and...wait for it....asked what it was. What? My husband, really? Umm hmm, so I told him what I did by accident and we agreed about how much we liked it.

And thus, the manicure looks like this:

Cult Nails, Doppleganger, Alter Ego, Deception Swatches, nail polish

I have to say people noticed my mani and wanted to know what I was wearing.

Cult Nails, Doppleganger, Alter Ego, Deception, Swatches, Nail polish

Any of the colors in the Deception Collection will make a great top coat. You really don't need an additional  clear top coat over these colors, but of course, you can use one if you want. I love Maria's polishes. They are so strong that they wear really long without chipping or any of those less desirable polish traits.

The nail lacquers  in the Deceptive Collection are all limited edition colors.  Nevermore is a new color to the regular line.  I just love the plummy-taupey-ness that I got from combining the two top coats.  There were all kinds of little shimmers that you could see in real life.  I had so much fun with this.

What are some of your happy nail accidents that you ended up loving?  I bet you all have some great stories!

(All nail lacquers pictured were a gift to me from Cult Nails with no requests or expectations.  All opinions expressed are my own honest opinion.  Please see my disclosure for more info.)

The necklace can be up to ten letters and is just $29 for a $100 necklace.  Woot!!!  Woot!!!
In other really great shopping news, Bloomingdale's will start a friends and family sale starting on 9/25 thru 10/1.  There will be a link in my affiliate box where the Bloomie's ad is that will have the code.  That is super exciting.  I always think of Meg Ryan talks about the subway stop that leads to Bloomingdale's on You've Got Mail, just only one of my favorite movies.  Please use my affiliate ad.  It will help support my site with a small percentage back.  You will receive 20% off most items and 10% off electronics.  This is going to be fun.

Anyway, I thought some of you might be interested in the jewlery but there's other exciting things going online now and in the immediate future too.  Don't miss out!!

Ninja Polish Zultanite - My First Quadro-Chrome Nail Polish & Swatches

Zultanite is an amazing nail lacquer by Ninja Polish and it's one you need to experience to really believe.  I initially thought this was a tri-chrome color, but I realize after wearing it that while there are three colors that are strongest, there is a fourth on certain angles.  Bazillion swatches to come, but first...a story.

So there I was at a dinner meeting after walking the floor all day at Cosmoprof 2012, when the lovely ladies of Ninja Polish walked in with a box of goodie bags!!  How fun was this!?!?!

Ninja Polish

Really cute bags with a lovely note inside. And nail polish! What? What? This is what was in mine, from left to right: Cover Band Sticks N Stones, Layla Ceramic Effects CE-65 Color Changing Cherry, and Ninja Polish Zultanite.  A bevy of beauties!!!!  You may have seen my previous review of Sticks N Stones back in May when I had purchased this nail polish.  It still remains one of my top five favorites.

It's always a thrill to get a gift but especially when it contains such captivating colors. Ninja Polish recently started carrying the Layla Cosmetics nail polishes which is just crazy amazing to me as I don't have local access to an Ulta, nor does Ulta carry all types of Layla. I'll be reviewing this color next week. In certain circles, CE-65, Color Changing Cherry is known as a "Shelley color". (Shout out to Sue!!)

Anyway, stunned at Zultanite, I swirled the bottle around for a long time. I've taken several hundred pictures of it, and that is no exaggeration. She is a complex little minx!! It was so hard to capture the color(s) but let me show you what I have and tell you a few things about it.

Ninja Polish Zultanite, nail polish

The main color of the polish is a golden green, right? Or is it? There is yellow gold, yellow-green, a golden orange copper, and today, it dawned on me that in certain lights there is a hint of blue hiding. Look at the edges of the bottle!! I completely missed that for the first 6 weeks of playing with this.

Ninja Polish Zultanite, nail polish

I did a nail wheel where I tried it over 18 different hues of color to see what I might like to wear. It didn't photograph well. It's so sparkly and full of personality in person, but in pictures, some colors become shy under a bright light, like a celebrity running from the paparazzi.

Ninja Polish, Zultanite, swatches, nail Polish

Number 18 at the top is two coats of the polish by itself.

Ninja Polish Zultanite, Swatches, nail polish

In the following picture, Zultanite is alone on the index finger. I was so captivated by the hidden orange and how it mixed with the yellow and green in the polish that I wanted to see what happened putting it over orange. It looked awesome in person but I couldn't photograph it for squat.

Ninja Polish, Zultanite, Nail Polish, Swatch

And then I wore it over black and used some different methods of photography. I think you can see how it wanes from the orange at the tips thru the yellow and green to the blue at the cuticle area from the following angle.

Ninja Polish, nail polish, Zultanite Swatches

Ninja Polish, nail polish, Zultanite Swatch

Most of the rest of the photos will be focusing on the main colors of orange, yellow and green. You'll see all this and more when you wear it. It's mesmerizing.

Look at what happens when you use a full on flash. It's crazy, right?

Ninja Polish Zultanite, nail polish, swatches

The bottom line is this is a really fun nail polish that you'll enjoy wearing. It's an explosion of color that changes with each different light and angle of your hand. It's got great wear time. You can purchase all the items you see in this post at Ninja Polish.  Zultanite is $11.00.  The Layla Ceramic Effect polishes are $9.95, and everyone's favorite Cover Band Sticks N Stones is just $9.00.
(These polishes were a gift to me from the Ninjas.  Thanks girls.  It was so much fun!!)

Maybelline Color Tattoo Eyeshadows Summer 2012 Target Exclusives

Maybelline teamed with Target this summer to release four exclusive Color Tattoo 24 hour eyeshadow shades.  These are a cream/gel type of eyeshadow that can be used alone as color or as a base for other eyeshadow.  The four shades released for Summer 2012 are Test My Teal, Fuchsia Fever, Blue On By and Ready, Set, Green.  They are pictured in that order from the top left clockwise to the bottom left.

I can't say I've ever tested the 24 hour theory, but worn for 12 to 16 hours, I've found them to be comfortable, without creasing, flaking or fading, and a superb formula among potted and cream shadows.  Maybelline makes all kinds of cosmetics that are rich with pigmented color and these are another example.

Maybelline Color Tattoo Eyeshadow, Target Exclusive

I prefer the Color Tattoo eyeshadows to Mac paint pots in that I find the paint pots to be a bit drying and let's face it, these are such a great value in comparison for a comparable product. I find them easier to work with and especially when it comes to blending colors together or a powder eyeshadow on top. They're just a bit creamier allowing for artistic variation to occur. Apply with a brush or use your finger; they'll have delicious color either way.

So let's look at the swatches. From left to right are Test My Teal, Fuchsia Fever, Ready, Set Green, and Blue On By.

And in the glass pot container, we have Test My Teal:

Fuchsia Fever:

Maybelline Fuchsia Fever Color Tattoo Eyeshadow

Ready, Set, Green:

Maybelline Ready Set Green Color Tattoo Eyeshadow

And last, but not least, Blue On By:

Maybelline Blue On By Color Tattoo Eyeshadow

These are beautiful bold colors that I was really excited to see. We only have two Targets in my town, so it wasn't easy to find them. Fuchsia Fever was the first to sell out where I live. You can usually find Maybelline Color Tattoo 24 hr Eyeshadows for about $6.99 MSRP. You can also purchase the non-limited edition colors on the Maybelline website, (link provided for your convenience).

It's no secret I'm a Maybelline lover, so I'm really enjoying these and the nudes that came out for fall 2012. How about you? Have you dipped into the Color Tattoos?
