The Dior Diva Program Is The Best Thank You For Shopping Ever!

If you purchase anything from Dior, be sure to save your receipts!! There is a program called Dior Diva that is a rewards program for shopping Dior products.  One Dior Diva point is rewarded per each dollar spent with varying levels of rewards, each offering a different collection of Dior items.  The receipts collected need to be within a twelve month time frame and once you have enough for the reward you wish, send them in!  Signing up is Free!!!  This program doesn't cost you anything and actually rewards you for money you're spending already.

I recently got my second Dior Diva box. It was pretty amazing. A big white box arrives at the door...you know the kind where you start making excuses and saying "I swear I didn't order anything"? Yeah, THAT kind of box!! Drool worthy. Inside is a nice thank you from Dior.
Photobucket

Push away the tissue and wow, it looks like a present!! You know I like getting little presents. (Quick, someone forward this post to my husband!!)
Photobucket

Inside this nice sturdy box, (which would look great on a vanity holding some of those lovely cosmetics), is several items. On the left is a full 1 ounce size of Dior Capture Totale One Essential Skin Boosting Super Serum.  This size retails for $95!!! This serum helps to detoxify skin and when applied before any other skincare product, boosts the efficacy of the other products, extending their benefit.
Photobucket

Pictured to the right of the One Essential is a full sized DiorShow Maximizer Lash Plumping Serum. This product retails for $28. It is a serum that you put on lashes morning and evening and it extends the life of a lash as well as the length. It's a serum lash primer and like the One Essential, is a product I use and enjoy.

Next in the box is this makeup bag. Guess what's inside it.
Photobucket

BRUSHES!!!! I'm a total fiend for good brushes! They are my weakness.
Photobucket

Dior makes some awesome brushes! They all come in a velveteen pouch and have a hard plastic shealth that protects the bristles. Pretty impressive way to keep the vital utensils in top shape until they arrive to you. I'm going to cover them individually so that you can get a better look. First up is a full sized foundation brush, retail value $34.
Photobucket

Full sized blush brush; retail value $48.
Photobucket

Next is the Dior Backstage Medium Eyeshadow Brush.  This brush sells for $27.  This one reminds me SO much of my beloved Mac 246, (discontinued).  I have the large sized shadow brush and I love it!
Photobucket

This level of reward also includes the Backstage Lip Brush. This brush retails for $22 and is self-covered! Hoorah!
Photobucket

Last is a spoolie brow brush. It sells for $20. I used to keep old mascara wands and clean them off for this purpose. Now, I have a spoolie brow brush on the end of my Dior Brow Styler, which is all I need for brows now. It is the easiest, most effectively perfect eye brow pencil ever.
Photobucket

I really appreciate that Dior has provided this program as a reward for purchases I would have made anyway. It's just so darned cheery to receive a box full of full-sized top quality items. I've provided links for you from Nordstrom for your ease to check out the products but you can also find Dior on Sephora or Dior.com, and just about most major top department stores. (I have an affiliate relationship with Nordstrom. Please see my disclosure policies for more information).

This is by far the best shopping reward I've ever received. Thanks, Dior!! Catch ya next reward level!

Lynnderella Nail Polish Swatches!!

Have you heard the buzz about Lynnderella Nail Polish? It's all over Facebook and Twitter. These are homemade nail polishes that are achieving a cult type following. The demand is much higher than what Lynn can produce and for now, she has opted to sell them exclusively thru Llarowe.com. If you watch the Llarowe Facebook page, you'll be able to see when the stock is replenished and available for shipment.

But don't leave till you look at my swatches!! It took me a hundred years to do these. I got my order while I was out of town for a month and then had immediate surgery when I returned home, swatched while laid up and have another surgery so I haven't actually painted my nails in nearly two months, but I wanted to give you an idea of what these look like so I turned to my trusty swatch wheels. Each swatch is TWO coats of polish.

First up is The Glittering Crowd, a delightful mix of blue, green, red, gold, magenta in varying sizes of hex and square glitters with teeny micro-glitter mixed in. Man, it's like Mardis Gras in a bottle!!!! The swatch to the right is I Can Afford It, a nice green and gold micro-glitter base with varying sizes of green chunky glitters and a nice smattering of purple throughout.
Photobucket
Photobucket

To the right of I Can Afford It is Mercury's Rainbow. Ooooh aaaaah, irridescent sparkling hex glitters splattered throughout a dark charcoal base, it gives off so much color, it's difficult to look away. Be careful driving while wearing this one!
Photobucket
Photobucket

The light lavender you see to the right is Bride Of Frankenstein. The flash of the camera shows those gold glitters that you see but I can't see them with my eye or even with magnifying glasses. It's so funky because all I see is a light sheer lavender shade with lots of mico holographic glitters but the camera shows otherwise. It's nail polish magic because I am guessing these glitters are probably clear and are there to reflect light and are not seen by the naked eye.

Photobucket
Photobucket

The next to the right is Mercurial. What a wonder this is! It's in a sheer charcoal grey base with varying sizes and shapes of grey glitters.
Photobucket
Photobucket

The turquoise blue tiny square glitters in the very lightly tinted base that you see are Thanks Blue. It's going to make a good top coating over so many different colors.

Photobucket
Photobucket

The white color to the right is Snow Angel. I must have taken seventy-hundred pictures of this one trying to show all the layers of glitter it has, all the shapes and sizes, but a flash shot takes the dimension away. I keep thinking, while it's VERY cool on it's own, it would make a great pairing with Pam's Girly Bits January Morning. I haven't loaded my picture of it yet, but trust me, the two would marry well.

Photobucket
Photobucket

The fabulous red, gold and green spectacle to the right is Happy Holo Daze. It has the varying hex glitters, micro-glitter and even some bar glitters. There is a lot of glow and sparkle in this one.

Photobucket
Photobucket

The fabulous sheer light grey on the right is Mysterious Ways. Full of micro-glitters, tiny silver holo hex glitters, and grey matte glitter pieces, this one has multiple personalities. While it will work well alone with two or three coats, it will also be a fabu top coat.

Photobucket
Photobucket

Have you noticed the fancy pants purple next to Mysterious Ways? It's called Love Potion No 99. If this doesn't bring your Valentine calling, I don't know what will. It's sure to get you noticed with it's royal purple base, small holographic micro-glitters, red flashes and purple hexes. There's a lot of shiney sparkle in this one and yet in some ways, it's subtle and coy as you expect purple and you see red flashes, like fire from within. Awesome! It is a true rich purple.

Photobucket
Photobucket

The silver fully holographic glitter extravaganza you see on the right is Shape Shifter. Round glitters, different sizes of hex glitters and bar glitter, this delicious holo packs a punch in it's bottle. The thing I really appreciate about Lynnderella nail polishes are that when they use bar glitter, it enhances the polish experience rather than making it look hairy like some bar glitters can. Total success!

Oh! I just remembered!! I also have Ruby Red Ruby and got all excited about it but forgot to swatch it. I'll include pics when I do. In consolation, you may have noticed in the top swatch that there was something to the left of the Lynderellas. I happen to have swatches done for two other items sold on Llarowe.com. Behold....on the left is Hits Zeus and on the right is Glitter Gal Lizard Belly. Call the Holo Police!!! We have Holo Madness happening here!!! I die, really, I just wow, Lizard belly is a blackened green that you can't believe till you see it. And Zeus is a fabulous black holo. OH MY!!

There are several more Lynnderellas that I hope to be able to get sometime. I'll be doing pre-op during the crazy monday madness that Llarowe dot com will have happening. But I'll have a cell phone so there's hope I may get my next wants met!!!! I've included links for your ease of ordering. I'd be lying if I said I didn't think about taking them out to ensure I can get my order made, lol, but I make nothing off the links, it's just a courtesy to you, my reader.

I really really like sparkle! I would glitter my grill if it didn't get into my food. I'm thinking I must have a mini-Tinkerbell within. Do you love glitter like I do? Or are you more of a matte person?

Revlon Whimsical Nail Polish VS Deborah Lippmann Glitter In The Air

Today I have for you a comparison between the Deborah Lippmann Glitter In The Air nail polish and it's drugstore duplicate Revlon Whimsical. Revlon has been known to duplicate very popular high end polishes and they do it well. Let's look at them in the bottles. The Lippmann is $18 and is sold at Nordstrom, Deborah Lippmann's own website, beauty.com, HSN and more.

Photobucket

The base is a light baby blue sheer with two sizes of baby blue and baby pink hex glitters thruout. Look at the Revlon Whimsical.

Photobucket

Revlon is sold at all major mass retailers, drug and grocery stores, Ulta, and a bazillion other places. I don't remember what I paid but I'm sure it was under $7 full price and I probably even had a coupon. I found it at Ulta while on a vacation.

Let's look at some swatches. Normally I label my swatch wheels, but I was playing with Glitter In The Air, trying to find a way I liked it. It is FOUR, count 'em four, layers alone on the very left swatch on this wheel.
Photobucket

Next, look at two swatches of Whimsical on this wheel:
Photobucket

All alone by itself, I was disappointed when I wore Glitter In The Air. The glitter was few and far between and awfully hard to place in a pleasing manner. The blue base was so milky it was almost white; therefore, I liked the Lippmann a lot better over other things to boost the color. I tried between 2 and 4 layers of GITA over these other colors for these swatches.
Photobucket

Photobucket

I like Revlon Whimsical very much just by itself. There's plenty of glitter to cover a base that has a light color, not just a milkiness. For me, this one is a winner. It may not be everyone's cup of tea but it is mine.

How about you? Which one do you like best? Or is it like children, where there's no favorites but each has a distinct personality?

Clarins 230 Duped By Pam's Girly Bits Shift Happens Nail Polish? Swatches and Comparisons!

Have I found a duplicate nail polish to the elusive Clarions 230? Let's take a look at what I found when I received an order from Pam's Girly Bits of her fabulous nail polishes. If you're not familiar with this brand, it is made by a real person, not a large corporation, who is also a nail blogger. Check her out on the provided links to her website and facebook page.  Pam's fabulous polishes will also be available soon on Llarowe.com so keep checking.  These links are provided for your ease and I receive no compensation for providing them, it just makes it easier for you.  However, wait until you see what I have before you pop over there, lol.

When you order from Pam, you receive a very well packaged group of nail polish that is just like opening a present. And who doesn't love getting a present in the mail, especially when it's well packaged?
Photobucket

Photobucket

I have always received a hand written note which is a nice touch. This time, I also received a note about the creation of one of her newest polishes, January Morning. The story truly touched me deeply as I know it will when you receive your copy.
Photobucket
Photobucket

So here comes the story regarding a possible duplicate nail polish for Clarins 230. I purchased 230 from Nordstrom when it was on the counter. I was mesmerized by the dual nature of it's color. It was fascinating. At the time, I didn't know what to do with it, so it just sat in the box, since I was kind of a one color girl. I took it out this week after I received Shift Happens, a new color in Pam's Girly Bits polish line. This is a 5 ml bottle of Shift Happens. (LOVE, love, love the little jewel on each bottle!!)
Photobucket

I would say Shift Happens has a little more of a red tone than what it looks like on screen. It is quite coy, making a true color photograph very difficult. But it reminded me of Clarins 230, and the swatches I've seen before also looked like they might be dupes, so I pulled out my trusty dusty Clarins 230 to compare.

I want to show you the packaging because it looks just ancient to me now so I think it's funny. The box edges are worn from jostling around from storage spot to storage spot.
Photobucket

Look at the back!!! Does anyone remember when Nordstrom used price stickers like this? It's been a really long time!!
Photobucket

I was ashamed when I opened it to look at it. Obviously it hasn't been opened very often. I've admired the bottle with wonder a few times but always stuck it back away and forgot about it. Shameful!! All original packaging...now I'm getting downright nostalgic.
Photobucket

Here is Clarins 230 posing in it's bottle. The bottle shot shows it as having a purple tinge to it, moreso than Shift Happens.
Photobucket

Side by side, Shift Happens is showing up browner and Clarins 230 is showing purpler.
Photobucket

You can clearly see they are not identical in the bottles. Why am I saying they can be dupes? Or is that what I'm saying? Let's look at swatches together on a nail wheel, each color swatched twice, Clarins 230 on the left, Shift Happens on the right.
Photobucket

The Clarins looks like a sheer purple with pinky-red glass fleck glitter bits. Guess what? Pam's Girly Bits Shift Happens has the SAME pinky-red glass flecked glitter bits! The SAME! Watch what happens when you apply both over a dark color. I used Pam's Girly Bits Denim Diva for a base.
Photobucket

Photobucket

Can you tell the difference? Me either. DUPE ALERT!! Over dark colors, Shift Happens is a DUPE for Clarins 230!! Here's a couple more swatches:
Photobucket
Photobucket

I also swatched both colors over something lighter to see the difference. For this base, I used Cult Nails Devious Nature.
Photobucket

I swatched them again with Clarins 230 on the left and Pam's Girly Bits Shift Happens on the right. You can see that Clarins purplizes Devious Nature, but both colors leave the exact same shimmer on the swatch.
Photobucket

Cleary, the base of each color is different, but the shimmering glitter bits are the same. THE SAME. I see no difference between the two in regards to the shimmer. I like that Shift Happens doesn't substantially change the base color like Clarins 230 does. I also like that over dark colors, Shift Happens is a much more affordable alternative to the long ago limited edition Clarins 230.

One last thing about Pam's Girly Bits, the colors used to only be available in the 5ml size, but she now sells both 5 and 15 ml sizes. Here's a size comparison:
Photobucket

And let me leave you with a taste of an awesome scattered holographic black called Into The Night. BeeeeUteeeful!!!
Photobucket

How would you label this, a half-dupe? Semi-dupe? Dupey over dark? What is your most desired color that you'd like to see duplicated?
