5 Causes of Eye Wrinkles That You Should Never Ignore

Please enjoy this guest post I have for you today while I scurry to arrange some posts for you after my vacation to the great state of Tennessee.  I'd never been there before.  It was beautiful and the people even more so.  And, on with the show:

Have you ever stopped to think about what really causes those eye wrinkles below and around your eyes? Have you ever thought that maybe they are things that we should not ignore and pay more attention to? Eye wrinkles come in two different types. There are those wrinkles under your eyes and the ones around the eyes that you have probably heard - they're called crow's feet. Wrinkles happen for a lot of reasons, but you need to be aware of what may be causing this to change the pattern. Then you can help prevent them! Here are 5 causes you should never ignore.

1. Sunlight – Sunlight is the most destructive element to our skin and eyes. It’s not totally avoidable of course, but using a sun block is going to minimize wrinkles and help to stop any damage already done from getting any worse. Most young people today love to tan and stay out in the sun and don’t think about using sunscreen around the eyes, but this is one of the most important things you can do to take care of your skin for your whole life. What's more, sunscreen can be applied at any age. If you have children, start them young with sunscreen around the eyes. They may not develop as many eye wrinkles as we have today, and will have you to thank. Furthermore, the bright sun makes you squint, and this of course leads to wrinkles. Naturally, wearing sunglasses when in the sun will help as well.

2. Hydration – If your skin is not hydrated well enough, it will develop wrinkles. Along with being sure you drink plenty of fluid, especially water, it would be wise to use some type of wrinkle cream. Buy one that contains antioxidants, and start at a very young age. It is never too late to get a jump start on those wrinkles.

3. Stress – Stress is a major contributing to wrinkles. The stress you have can be caused by lack of sleep, a hectic lifestyle, a strained relationship, smoking and more. To your skin and eyes, it's all the same. If you can work on reducing the stress in your life, you can help decrease wrinkles and likely help yourself out in a plethora of other ways too.

4. Diet – What you eat and drink plays a big part in the wrinkles around your eyes. Too much sugar is not only unhealthy for the body, it causes (you guessed it) wrinkles. This is because excess sugar is going to damage collagen, which makes your skin more elastic, So, slow down on the sugar or try to eliminate sugars altogether. Also, fruits and vegetables provide a lot of antioxidants the body needs to keep your skin in peak condition. Always opt for natural foods rather than processed items, and this will help your physique too (so you can avoid stretch marks).

5. Aging - This is obviously the hardest cause of eye wrinkles to avoid. But, you can still do something about it - eye cream. A good eye cream can help maintain the firmness of your skin well into old age. MAC has a great line that I ALWAYS use.

Eye wrinkles are not just from aging. To reduce and even eliminate wrinkles, take care of your face and eyes while you are young. If you did not do so in your youth, there are still things you can do to help yourself - hopefully these tips help you!

Chanel En Vogue Rouge Coco Lipstick Pictures, Swatches, Review

Perhaps it's time I told you something about me. I have thousands of useless points of data stored in my brain. Things like the words to practically every song from my youth. These things take up a lot of room...room that I could utilize better by perhaps remembering which formula of Chanel lipstick that I like best. I simply can't remember. They come out with a new formula every year, further mudding up my mental data files to where I am forced to choose the lipsticks based on color, rather than name of formula.

Let it be further stated, for the record, that Rouge Coco is not going to be my favorite Chanel lipstick formula. Why? It's a glorified tinted lip balm which will set you back $32.50 USD.  I'm not so close minded that I will cut out the possibility of ever finding one I like, perhaps a nice berry, but En Vogue isn't the one for me.  Oh, but it's a beaute in the tube!

Chanel Rouge Coco En Vogue

Look at that gorgeous orange coral!! So full of promise. However, as the formula is a hydrating sheer, it fails to fulfill the purpose that I wanted it for. It's just too danged sheer for me. And being such a lightweight sheer lipstick, it's not going to last long on the lips. I do find it quite nice as a glossy stick over another lipstick.

Swatches! Let's do swatches!!

Chanel En Vogue Rouge Coco Lipstick

Verrrrrrrry light on my arm, no? And on the lips, I can't even see the coral.

Chanel Rouge Coco Lipstick En Vogue

Now, just because I don't like it on it's own doesn't mean you won't. Many sheer lipsticks are awesome over darker natural lipcolor. My lips are just too light for this to look like much else than a balm on me. In the next picture, I am wearing it over Nars Pure Matte Lipstick Moscow for a hint of shine.   (You can see Nars Moscow on it's own pictured here!)

Nars Moscow and Chanel En Vogue

What do you think? Is it too sheer for you or do you love this kind of color? Is your brain full of useless song lyrics like mine is?

Chanel Sable-Emouvant Ombre' Contrast Eyeshadow Duo Swatches, Pictures and Review

Released as part of the Chanel Summer 2012 collection, the Sable-Emouvant Ombre' Contrast Eyeshadow Duo is pictured so beautifully on the Nordstrom webpage that I almost feel a little silly showing you my own pictures and swatches.  What is a beauty blog for if not homemade pictures and swatches, so let's continue, shall we?

Pictured with the brush and the sponge tip in the container, with flash, this is what you see when you open the package.

Chanel Sable-Emouvant Eyeshadow Duo

Remove the plastic and brushes and you have this duo, a mid-toned brown with micro-sized red shimmers and a golden beige, with microscopic shimmer particles.

Chanel Sable-Emouvant Eyeshadow Duo

Swatching the products reveals the shimmers lurking within that give the colors added dimension and interest on the eye. You'll find that the brown actually has hints of coppery shine to it. Also, Chanel eyeshadows are formulated so that you can use them wet for intensifying the color, if you wish, or dry for a softer look.

Chanel Sable-Emouvant Eyeshadow Duo Swatch

You can see that the beige just about matches my skintone. My eyelids, however, are much redder than the rest of my skin and I have applied the shadows over a base. I wet the beige a little at the center of my eye to intensify the color over the iris, but the flash of the camera pretty much washes out the color. Oh just take my word, it was fabulous, lol.

Chanel Sable-Emouvant Eyeshadow Duo

I used the colors as-is, with no other liner but the shadow itself so that you could see the colors. I have bigger than normal pictures because I want you to see my cheekbone. The deeper color that you see is the Soleil de Tan Chanel Bronzing Powder Sable Rose.  It's important that you see what it looks like on because I haven't blogged it yet.  :)

Chanel Sable-Emouvant Eyeshadow Duo

The overall look was with my Dior Diorshow Brow Styler, the Chanel Sable Rose Bronzer where you see the dip in the cheekbone, Diorskin Healthy Glow Enhancing Powder Bronzer in Sunlight at the top of the cheekbone, Nars Moscow Matte Lipstick with a little Chanel En Vogue Coco Shine thrown over the Nars just for a little bit of shine.

Chanel Sable-Emouvant Duo Nars Moscow

Chanel Ombre'Contrast Eyeshadow Duos retail for $42 and you'll find them wherever Chanel is sold, including the brand's own website. I purchased mine at Nordstrom.

Which items have you tried so far from the Chanel Summer 2012 Collection? Is there one must-have item for you in this collection? I'd love to hear about it!

Dior Addict Vernis Croisette Collection Ultra Gloss Brown Panama, Orange Pareo, Pink Croisette Swatches

Today I have some quick swatches for you. I placed a pre-order at Nordstrom for their Beauty On Location event and ordered two of the glosses in this collection. When I saw them in person, I snapped up the third, too. Oooooh, the sparkles!!!

From top to bottom, they are 432 Brown Panema, 542 Orange Pareo and 464 Pink Croissette. In the picture, you can't see the shimmers in Orange Pareo so I'll show you that one seperately as well.

Dior Summer 2012 Crosette Lipgloss Collection

Dior Summer Croisette Orange Pareo Lipgloss

Look at the swatches!!! This is what sold me on all three. I pre-ordered the orange and pink and figured I just had enough nude/brown lipglosses already, but when I saw the sparkles, I had to try it on. That showed me it was probably the best one...it was va-va-va-voom!!! Gorgeous!

You can see the Brown Panema is the most complex of all three shades. Don't miss it!!

Dior 'Addict Vernis Croisette Collection' Ultra Gloss

Dior Addict Ultra Gloss formula is light on the lips, low on the sticky end of the spectrum. They feature hyrdolonic spheres and if you have heard about hydrolonic anything lately, you'll know that means extra moisture for a soft plumpy look. They retail for $28 wherever Dior is sold.

I will blog my lip pictures when I have them. Unfortunately, the ones I took were after I had Taco Bell Dorito Loco Tacos, lol...everything came out orange. hahahaha! Lip swatches soon! Isn't the Dorito Taco sheer genius???

Dior Le Croisette 5-Colour Aurora Eyeshadow Palette and Diorskin Healthy Glow Enhancing Powder Bronzer Sunlight Swatches, Pictures, Reviews

Dior Summer 2012 Aurora Eyeshadow Palette

Dior Aurora 5-Colour Eyeshadow Palette is not what I went to Nordstrom to purchase.  I thought I would come home with the Swimming Pool Palette.  Swatching each changed my mind!!  The competition wasn't even close!!  Aurora has the best pigmented orange I've ever had the pleasure to swatch.  All the colors in the Swimming Pool palette were very sheer and didn't need to be my friend.

The seashell embossed pattern on the outer four shades really shows off the shimmer beautifully.  I found this palette breathtaking and filled a gap I've been looking to fill for a really long time.

Dior Aurora Eyeshadow Palette swatches

In the past, when faced with a five piece eyeshadow unit by Dior, I was unsure how to combine the shades. Do you actually use all five? Now, included in the packaging is an insert describing the triad theory of these palettes. Use any three shades adjoining together for a perfect look...three horizontally, three diagonally or two across the side, top or bottom plus the middle shade. So easy!!!

I've been using this one lately with a concentration of the middle shade on the eye. I've used it wet on the lid to give that light springtime look, and hoping that it will actually show up on my camera. I need a better camera; this one always washes out my shadows.

So here's a look I did using the middle as a base, the brown in the crease and at the outer edge of the eye, and the orange at the browbone. I am just loving that pink!!! I wish you could see the glow from it and how perfect it is for spring/summer.

DiorAuroraEyeshadowSunlightBronzer-1

Lately, when I take a closeup shot of the eye makeup, the flash just fades it all out, so the pictures are disappointing, but it gives you an idea of the placement of the shadows.

Dior Aurora Eyeshadow

The brown is so seriously pretty, I'm tempted to call it one of the best browns ever. It's lovely in the crease. I bet it would be just as lovely as a brown smokey eye. I used just the faintest hint at the outer corner; a departure from my usual heavy outer corner look.

I also wore Diorskin Healthy Glow Enhancing Powder Bronzer in Sunlight, which I've been meaning to show you but just haven't had the time yet.  So this is a duo post.  Now the Diorskin Sunlight Powder has this big old long name but on the back, it's called Diorskin Nude Tan Sunlight.  Hmm. I don't know what to call this powder.

It comes in a brilliant rich feeling compact of embossed silver tone. There is a mirror in the lid.
Dior Sunlight Nude Tan Powder

In the box, you will find a kabuki brush in the same brilliant silver. My camera is red so the reflection makes it look a little pink. It has a lovely CD embossed on the top. This is a top quality Dior brush.
Dior Kabuki

Dior Kabuki

The powder is comprised of four different colors; peach, tan, brown and bronze.
Dior Diorskin Healthy Glow Sunlight Bronzer

You can use the lighter colors for a highlight, the darker colors for a contour and swirled together for all over color. The swatch picture shows, from left to right, all the colors mixed together, the darker sections, and the lighter sections.
Dior Sunlight Powder swatches

I used all the shades of the bronzer in these photos. I concentrated the deeper shades at the hollow of the cheek and ran the peachier lighter shades at the top of the bone. It's probably somewhat hard to see the difference as I used a large brush, the Mac 187. Using a smaller brush would enable you to seperate the shades easier. I put this on heavier with no blush so that you could really get an idea of the color and sheen of the bronzer.

Dior Aurora and Diorskin Nude Tan Sunlight Bronzer

So there you go. An easy summertime look that says I'm waiting for summer!! I've got the makeup, I've got the sunscreen...all I need is the sunshine!!

Yves Saint Laurent 18 Rose Pastelle 'Rouge Pur Couture - Vernis a Levres' Glossy Lip Stain Swatches, Pictures and Review

My first foray into the land of Yves Saint Laurent Rouce Pur Couture Vernis A Leveres Glossy Stain for Lips was the color Pourpe Preview, a glossy purpley color.  I liked the feel and the wear of these so much that I purchased a couple more.  I was looking for a good nude color, which they didn't have.  The sales associate suggested Rose Pastelle as the closest thing they had to nude.

YSL Glossy Stain Rose Pastelle

You'll see this is a light baby pink, which works in a pinch when a nude gloss can't be found.

035-3

The packaging feels rich as the lid is gold with a YSL on it. The base of the gloss is black and has a peep-thru window allowing the color of the gloss to be seen so that you can quickly find what you need. You'll note from the pictures that it's a fingerprint magnet. The FBI could look at this post and tell the gloss belongs to me...and that's AFTER I wiped it down. Well, that's not too much trauma to suffer thru to enjoy these glosses.

The wand is slanted, allowing for easier application of the gloss.
YSL Glossy Lip Stain

Yves Saint Laurent Rose Pastelle Glossy Stain

These glosses are comfortable to wear and give a glossy look. They leave a stain as they wear down so that you don't look like an idiot when you're eating. This particular color, Rose Pastelle, is so light that I don't really notice the stain, but it is there. Use a couple of coats and it's even more glossy. There are several colors to choose from and they retail for $32. I purchased mine at Nordstrom. (Link provided for your convenience. I have an affiliate relationship with Nordstrom.)

I have two more colors I hope to review at some point, 12 Coral Fauve and 15 Rose Vinyl. Oooooo, something to look forward to!!!

New Glasses Are So Easy To Order With GlassesUSA.com. Check it out!

I had Lasix in 2000. It was within a year that I needed to wear glasses again for distance and most especially for night driving. The place I'd had the Lasix done sold the business to some other guy and I opted not to do his full priced adjustment. Gripe, gripe, gripe. Anyway, I don't wear prescription glasses all the time but there are times when I can't be without a good pair. I'm currently being treated for a dry eye condition, (hence all the bloodshot eye pictures lately :)), so I won't be in contacts anytime soon, and if you've had Lasix, you know that contacts just don't fit well afterward as the curve of the eye is changed.

I am always on the look out for new styles and new frames. I read a review by fellow blogger Gouldylox Reviews who was bold enough to purchase glasses online!!  Working with GlassesUSA.com, she tried several frames on thru their virtual mirror...a genius idea!!  Genius!!

I read about Kelly's choices and even voted to help her pick a favorite and read with great interest her pleasure in the product when it arrived. I wondered if I dared try such a thing myself.   I've been told my eyes are very close-set and that if prescription eyeglasses aren't made just so, I wouldn't be able to see right.

I visited the virtual mirror several times over the next couple of months and faux-tried on glasses. It looks something like this. Ok, it looks exactly like this.

The virtual mirror is SO easy to use!! You upload a picture of yourself and you can adjust the size to fit where the frames will sit so that you can see what they'll look like on. You have no idea how much stress this relieves me of. Seriously, do you know how many horrible pairs of glasses I've purchased because the clerk told me they looked perfect on me? Too many. I find the pressure of the clerk selling me on her preference vs. what I "think" I might like just too much to bear. It makes it harder for me to decide.

I was offered to try this online ordering prescription glasses system and see how I liked it.  I couldn't be happier!!!  I was able to look at different frames day and night, ask my husband's opinion, look some more...it was actually really fun.  ToBuy glasses online has been made easy and comfortable.  Would you like to see what I got?   I'm hoping to go back for prescription sunglasses soon, too.

Glasses Case

Your glasses arrive in a nice firm hard sided case. Inside is a lint free cloth to keep them clean. I was happy to see that since my son steals all mine for his various electronic equipment and guitars.

Glasses in case

Glasses

I chose gold frames because I've never had gold frames. I like the kind that are half-rimmed so I was glad Glasses USA offered them.

glassesUSA

GlassesUSA

I should tell you that these glasses were perfectly made to my prescription!! ONLINE! Perfection. I couldn't be happier. I just need sunglasses to go with them.

Glasses USA has constant online promotions and sales.  You can look them up in the link provided.  The prices are wonderful to start with and the coupons just help.  There is also a discount code associated with this blog post:  Blog10.

Did I forget to mention that they offer 100% garanteed satisfaction? And a 110% lowest price garantee? This is in addition to TOP quality lenses and frames.   There is also a generous Refer-A-Friend Program where you and the friend both get $30 off.  Their Facebook page and Twitter feed also has more discounts.  That's good.  I need sunglasses.  :)

So I guess you will want to see me wearing my new glasses?

Glasses-1

With all my awkward eye problems, if I can purchase a pair of glasses online and have them turn out to be perfect in every way, I know you can too! At least go have some fun with the virtual mirror.

A credit toward a pair of glasses was sent for my consideration. The glasses were ordered with this credit. All opinions are my own and consistant with the quality of the product.

Revlon Diamond Lust Eyeshadows Starry Pink and Plum Galaxy Swatches and Review

Revlon Diamond Lust eyeshadows drew me in with an amazing diamond like sparkle in the pan. I saw one sitting in a store and said, "ooooooooo, what is THAAAAAT?" I gasped. Really. I was mesmerized by the intriguing way the light bounced off the shadow particles. So I had to investigate further.

Revlon Diamond Lust Eyeshadows

On the left you see Starry Pink and on the right is Plum Galaxy. Starry Pink is the one that stopped me in my steps. The way the light bounced off the shimmer particles was stunning. I picked Plum Galaxy to pair with it. It's unfortunate that in all the pictures, Starry Pink is so reflective, brimming with diamonds, that it reflects away all the light so that you can't really see it well in the photos. It's cute. You'll just have to believe me.

Revlon Diamond Lust Eyeshadows

Plum Galaxy is even more complex than Starry Pink as it has red, purple and blue micro sparkle particles in it.

Revlon Diamond Lust Eyeshadow Plum Galaxy

In the next picture, you can see some of the blue sparkles on my lid.
Revlon Diamond Lust Eyeshadow

Revlon Diamond Dust Eyeshadow

Revlon makes pretty good shadows. They are some of the best drugstore eyeshadows around. This particular set of eyeshadows run about $4.50 each USD. They wore all day with no creasing. I did have minimal fallout from Plum Galaxy, and I mean minimal, like microscopic that I could only see with a 10x mirror.

Revlon Diamond Lust Eyeshadows

And here is what it looks like in a normal not super close up, blow your eyes out, kind of picture.

I have my eye on a gorgeous teal in this line next. mmmmmmmmm
