The Marc Anthony Hair Care Products That Take My Hair From Super FreakTo Super Fleek

Most of my life has been spent with bad hair.  It was the bane of my existance.  Many frustrating hours were lost as I tried to make my curls into a pattern that made sense and didn't end in a ball of frizz.  I wore a lot of baseball hats, layered cuts and ponytails thru my 20s.

My 30's were spent with very short hair, layered cuts, and a do' that was a result of half blowing out, giving up and curls on the rest.  It was a really frustrating time in my life, trying to tame the beast.

Fast forward to now:  In it's natural state, my unfortunate hair looks like this:

It's crazy and will scare small children.  However, I now have some secret weapons to go from the above to the sleekness I prefer.

What are these mystery products?!?!!  First I have to tell you that until I used them, I couldn't straighten my hair myself.  I've only been wearing it this way about five years and in that time, I've had two neck surgeries and a shoulder with four screws holding things together.  It's made for limited movement with my arm above my head.  The ONLY way I can straighten my hair is with great products.

A couple of months ago, Marc Anthony hair care sent me their argan oil, Oil Of Morocco and their Coconut Oil to try.  What a world of difference!!!!  I've abondon all the hair implements that you see here.  Ponys no more!!

hair, curly, straight, argan oil, shea butter, smooth

Let's look at the argan oil, Oil of Morocco Smoothing Cream, (6.72 fl oz/$8.99), first.  You can see on the front it claims to be a 3 day smoothing perfect blow dry cream and is infused with keratin.  I can easily double their three day claim.

After washing and conditioning, I apply a dollup the size of a 50 cent piece and work it all through my hair.  I have really thick hair so I probably use more than most people.  Then, and only then, am I able to blow dry my hair almost straight with just the smoothing Oil of Morocco Argan Oil itself!!  I've never ever ever ever been able to before.  Like ever.  Never ever.

Here is my hair after blow drying only:  (Ok, remember what it looks like curly, right?):

Just with the smoothing cream, my hair is almost straight.  If you have curly hair, you know how hard it is to blow dry it.  Generally it's ten minutes of blow-dry, 1/2 hour of sitting around, another 5-10 minutes, 1/2 hour of sitting around and repeat until you give up.  Generally to blow dry curly hair makes it larger and frizzier.  You can see in the above picture that I don't have big fat curly hair after blowing it dry, and it's almost entirely straight!!

Run a flat iron through a couple of spots and it looks like this:

    hair, curly, straight, smooth

I then finish by taking about two drops of the lightweight Coconut Oil with shea butter, (1.69 fl oz/$7.99), and run it through the hair, trying to concentrate on the ends.  It's not heavy like a lot of oils on the market and does the perfect job of hydrating my dry hair while promoting shine.  The Coconut Oil is infused with biotin, which is the best hair product I've ever found.  It's nourishing and promotes growth.

When argan oil first became a thing, I tried a couple.  I didn't like them very much because they didn't do anything for my rat's nest.  This argan oil cream, however, is the bomb!  It's my jam!  It's everything!!!!  Ask my real life friends and they'll tell you I didn't straighten my hair for a couple years and had to have it done.  No joke.

And now with these products from Marc Anthony True Professional, I can do my hair myself.  Woo hoo!!  Even with a screwed together shoulder on my dominant arm.

The ingredients of the Oil of Morocco are:

hair, smoothing, cream, treatment, straight, curly

It's probably worth noting as well that my hair has never been healthier either!!!

    The Coconut Oil ingredients:

smoothing, treatment, hair, curly, straight, shea butter

The proof of the quality of the products is in the photos.  They show my hair evolution and I just couldn't be happier.  These are the best quality hair products I've used at any price range.

    hair, smoothing, smooth, straight, curly
You can read more about Marc Anthony products for curly and for straight hair here.  And you can purchase the brand at Walgreens,, and just about every other drugstore in Canada and the US.  Check their website for where to purchase online and internationally.

Do you have a favorite smoothing product that you use?  Seriously, I can't believe how easy this makes my unruly hair!!!

Create Your Best Nude Look With Nars Unlawful Blush and Night Flight Eyeliner

Today we're going to look at a lawbreaking blush and a eyeliner that makes you want to run with the wind while it stays put. We're talking the feeling of total freedom with Nars Unlawful blush and Night Flight eyeliner. Unlawful will give you your best nude look, one sure to put a blush on even the most famous nude artist Michelangelo's face. Paired with the stay put eyeliner Night Flight, you can create a quick and healthy look for summer.

nude rose blush, gold, black, blue, swatches, review, shimmer

Let's look at the blush first, ($30/.16 oz).  Nars Unlawful is a healthy looking nude rose with gold shimmer.

nude, rose, shimmer, gold, swatches, review

I LOVE to put this on my cheekbone and as contour.  I don't notice the sparkles at all when I use it there and blend it in.   However, one day, I applied it as usual and then decided on a totally sunkissed look and applied it heavily on the apples of the cheeks.  It was overdone and my family asked me why I had gold sparkles on my face.  That was too much, so just be mindful of your placement and how much you use.

The blush arrived at my house with an item that I'd been dying for...the Night Flight eyeliner, ($25/ .02 oz.).  I have all the Night series shadows and they're among my favorites, especially for lining.  I love the black base with the colored shimmers that can really shine through.  Night Flight is a black pencil with blue shimmer.  It wears VERY well.  You can wear these pencils in the heat of summer without them fading or running.  I'm really impressed with both products.

Look at how pretty they are together.

nude, rose, gold, shimmer, sparkle, blue, black, review

I regularly use a navy to tightline my eyes.  This makes any eye color look brighter and the whites look whiter.  To use a black liner that you can wing or smudge if you want that contains the perfect blue to brighten eyes is a true winner.  Both items are regular staples in my makeup wardrobe.

Lastly, I have a swatch picture in studio lighting.  The picture above is in full sun and portrays the colors in a more correct manner, but I thought I should include this.  Wow!!  What a great nude blush and black liner!!

Unleash Your Inner Global Wanderlust With The Anastasia Beverly Hills Shadow Couture World Traveler Palette

    swatches review

Anastasia Beverly Hills has introduced a new Shadow Couture eyeshadow palette called World Traveler. ($30)  This is an amazing value with 12 shades you can use wet or dry and a duo ended brush to boot!!!  Let your secret travel fantasies be fulfilled with the glory of these delicious well-pigmented eyeshadows of varying textures that can transport you to any continent with just a little imagination.

Let's take a closer look.  I took pictures in groups of six.  The left side of the palette contains, (top, left to right):

Soft Peach - a nice matte beige
Morocco - A rusty matte burnt orange
Heirloom - a sparkly eggplant color

The bottom row, on the left side, contains:

Spolied - a light metallic peach with some gold sparkles
Fudge - rich matte chocolate brown
    Azure - a metallic blue

The right half of the World Traveler palette contains, (top row first, left to right):

Bellini - a golden peach with satin finish
Pink Champagne - a metallic pink toned taupe
    Chic - metallic light taupe

The bottom row, left to right, are:

Intense Gaze - a satin rose
Metallic - an antique gold with a satin finish
Noir - a rich matte black

    swatches, review

All the shades are richly pigmented.  Some are very close to the color of my arm and will work just beautifully on my eyes with a shadow base.  This artist's palette will work for all skin tones.

I had already purchased two of the shades in this palette in the regular size at Macy's.  Four shadows and a palette are $40, so 12 shades for $30 is an absolute steal!!!!  Most palettes this size cost far more but please don't tell Anastasia!!!  And a double ended shadow and crease brush?  Plus a full sized mirror.  Wow.  GREAT Value!!!   I'm just spinning on my little global axis thinking of all the duo action wear I can get out of this palette.  I find this collection to have very wearable colors.

    One last look.

I have some absolute favorites in this palette.  And I just can't get over how awesome Morocco is in the crease.  So great!!!

What are your favorites from Anastasia Beverly Hills?  And how do you like this shadow value???

Morgan Taylor Ooh La La Nail Lacquer Collection and Nail Art

People, it is time to shine!!!  I'm recently from the Cosmoprof North America beauty trade show.  It's a show for professionals in the industry and for the press who cover the new ideas, trends, devices, and everything to help you be a more comfortable and beautiful you.  Read more about CPNA HERE and see why I went.

I attended for just a day and a half,  rather than the three full days in the past.  I don't have as many pictures and stories as you might be used to but we'll just talk about what we have.  Deal? OK.

The first place I went the first day was Morgan Taylor Nail Lacquer and Gelish gel polish.  I always love to see their collections, talk about the inspiration behind them and see the duos that are put together with a color from each brand.  The idea is that you use the gel for nails and coordinate the polish for toes.  I like to do both gels and polish and often buy matching colors in each genre for when I want either type of manicure in a particular color, so having ready made duos is a win-win for me.

We'll talk more about what is coming out from both brands throughout the year in subsequent blog posts but today I want to bring you some colors from the Ooh La La Collection, which was released in May 2015.

Do You Harajuku, CanCanWe Dance. Postcards From Paris, Escargo To France

From left to right in the picture above are Do You Harajuku, (from the Hello Pretty collection this summer), CanCan We Dance?, Postcards From Paris and Escar-go To France.  The moment I saw these polishes, I visualized the manicure I knew I had to do.  It was in me and by golly, it had to come out.

Morgan Taylor Nail Lacquer is a professional brand that can be found in salons or online at their website.  They have really interesting collections and the duos with Gelish are fab! and worth purchasing if you find them.  The lacquers are $8.50 each with the perfect size of pro brush.  The brush makes polishing my fingers so easy!!  I hate the skinny brushes some brands have and a couple brands have a brush so wide that you could land a plane on it.  The Morgan Taylor brush is in between the two extremes and fits my nails perfectly.

I've always found the lacquers to apply smoothly and be self-leveling.  I generally use two coats without streaking.  That held true for these lacquers.  Let's see what I had in mind for these and I'll talk about each polish individually.

This is how my vision came out:

    manicure, glitter, shimmer,

And now, let's look at each color.  The first one in the first picture above is from the Hello Pretty collection and is a pretty pale mint color.  Do You Harajuku has a pale minty-blue toned shimmer in it.  Barely seen on the nail, it adds depth and interest to the color and keeps it from looking flat.  I like it very much.  I like all of these colors very much.  I find them all appealing.  Do You Harajuku is on my pinky and worked well for the nail stripes on my ring finger.

The next nail polish is CanCan We Dance? from the Ooh La La Collection.  This color is on my thumb and middle finger.  It's a beautiful creamy color that has a violet shimmer to it.  I have nothing else like it.  None of my cameras could pick up the violet sheen.  :(

Ooh la la, nail polish, nail art, notd, nails, swatch

The third color in line is the gorgeous light turqoise cream Postcards From Paris.  It is on my middle finger with the nail art.  Such a pretty turqoise nail polish.

The fourth polish I used in my manicure is the outstanding glitter polish Escar-Go To France.  For my mani, I applied two coats over a coat of Do You Harajaku.  This polish has the other three colors in it.  I honestly like the glitter better by itself because all the colors show off whereas applying over mint doesn't make the mint particles as noticible.  It contains holographic squares and squares of light coral, light mint, light turqoise, as well as tiny micro holographic shimmers in a clear base.  It's such a beautiful mix of color!!

All these colors go together perfectly and were an instant inspiration for my nail art.  It's simple but shows off all the beautiful colors.

You can shop Morgan Taylor nail lacquers on their website and in salons.  The Urban Cowboy Collection is the latest grouping to be released and it's hot, hot, HOT!!  Use the links and you can find some of the colors already on sale!!!

Have you used Morgan Taylor nail lacquers?  Do you love the Gelish and Morgan Taylor gel/polish combos as I do?  How are you nailing your summer art?
