NYX Cosmetics Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick Swatches

The newest liquid lipstick to hit the market are the NYX Cosmetics Liquid Suede Cream lipsticks, (.13 fl oz / $6.99).  They are in the familiar lipgloss type tube with a doe foot applicator.  I picked up a few at Ulta to check out and have those swatches for you today.

review, liquid lipstick

From left to right, I have:   Tea and Cookies, Sandstorm, Pink Lust, Soft-Spoken and Life's A Beach.  I've swatched them below in the same order.

review, Ulta, liquid lipstick

When I tried these on for lip swatches, at first I was surprised.  They remain tacky feeling on the lips for as long as five minutes.  Taking a sip of my water, I did have just the faintest hint of color transfer.  Once the colors set up, however, they will last well throughout the day.  They have a comfortable feel on the lips and even as I ate and drank, I didn't feel I needed to refresh afterwards.  The formula is definitely long wearing, even for a liquid lipstick.  The finish is matte in the colors I tried.

I've swatched them on the lips in the same order.  First is Tea & Cookies, a nice soft natural pink.

review, liquid lipstick

This pink is really easy to wear and one you'll feel comfortable mucking around in on any given day.

review, liquid lipstick

The next color is Sandstorm, a neutral toned nude of medium depth

liquid lipstick, review

In the middle of my first photo is Pink Lust, a vibrant hot pink.  It glows, it's so bright.

review,

The darker nude is Soft-Spoken.  It is slightly darker and redder than Sandstorm, but not by a lot.  On my pale lips, the colors are really close.

review

The last color I have is the bright orange Life's A Beach.  This is a neon orange, about the color of a traffic cone on me.  It's so bright that my camera couldn't really handle the difference between it and my skintone.

review

For about the last year or so, for me personally,  I prefer a more natural type of coral like Anastasia Beverly Hills Sorbet liquid lipstick.

The NYX Cosmetics Liquid Suede lipsticks can be found on the NYX Cosmetics website, as well as Ulta online and in stores.  The selection of colors is limited at this point, but they're new, so maybe more colors will come in the future.  These liquid lipsticks are easy to apply, cover without being splotchy and can be layered, if you wish.

Have you tried the Liquid Suedes yet?  What are your favorite liquid lipsticks?

Have Soft Supple Skin With Reviva Labs 10% Glycolic Acid Cream

Let's take a moment to talk about skin...facial skin. I've found that as time passes, for some reason my skin gets bumpier. There can be a roughness to it if I slack off on my skincare. And lines...yeah, those too. One of the best things to do for lines, wrinkles and bumpiness is to introduce an exfoliator into your skincare process. I was fortunate to receive a sample of Reviva Labs 10% Glycolic Acid Cream, (1.5 oz / $29) and it was true love at first use. You can read more about this Leaping Bunny certified cruelty free company here and here.

cruelty free, skincare, mature skin, exfoliation

Glycolic Acid is an AHA derived from sugar cane.  It is used to exfoliate the top layer of skin and promote cellular renewal.  The molecules are very small and penetrate the surface of the skin.  The allow the outer layer of dead skin to exfoliate off the top, revealing softer smoother skin.  Glycolic Acid is used to treat wrinkles, dark spots, uneven skintone, bumpiness and improve skin's tone, texture and look.  Those darned skin curses that pop up around 35 or 40 can be improved with regular use of an AHA in your skin care routine.

Here are the ingredients, all natural and cruelty free:  Purified water, 101% glycolic acid polymer (extracts of sugar and rhubarb), extracts of pumpkin, peach, sage, cornfrey, chamomile, witch hazel, vitamins A, D, E, safflower oil and sunflower oil.

The 10% Glycolic Acid Cream is white and absorbs easily.

cruelty free, natural, skin care

It should be used at most every other night before bed.  I use it a couple of times a week.  Sensitive skin types should begin with the 5% Glycolic Acid Cream and adjust to that first.  If you have some irritation the next morning, be sure to apply moisturizer over it the next time you use it.   Don't use your AHA's the same night that you do a manual exfoliation, such as with a brush or beaded exfoliator.  Both manual and chemical rejuvenation are important and I use both, but not on the same night.

I really like this.  The first time I used it, I was amazed by how SMOOTH my skin was in the morning.  I've never had irritation from it but I also don't have sensitive skin.  It improves my skin texture.   There's just nothing like having a face as smooth as a baby's bottom.  Like the back side of a baby, you'll have fresh skin exposed to be sure to protect it with an SPF.  Again, the cream contains all natural cruelty-free ingredients.  The 10% Glycolic Acid Cream is something that I simply NEED to have in my skincare routine so that I don't look really old and dry.  :)  And rough.

If you haven't tried Reviva Labs yet, you should.  I have reviewed several of their products and they have never disappointed me.  You can purchase on their website or at Ulta Beauty.  Be sure to browse the Reviva Labs website as their range of products is greater than what Ulta carries.

Do you do regular exfoliation for skin turnover and renewal?  What's your routine?

Esqido Mink Lashes Review, How To And Giveaway

review, giveaway

Let's have a glam giveaway!!!  I've been fortunate to be able to experience ESQIDO mink eyelashes and ESQIDO has offered one lucky reader a pair of mink lashes as well!!  Wait for the widget to load while I tell you about these cruelty-free lashes.

First of all, they arrive in a cushy white box, which you will keep them in between wears, protecting them until the next time.  It's glam all the way around with the copper writing.

eye lashes, false lashes, mink, cruelty free

Esqido makes hand-crafted lashes made of naturally shed mink with a comfortable cotton band.  They are long yet lightweight with an uplifting curl and feel natural on the eye.

false lashes, crueltyfree

The pair I received is called Unforgettable, ($38).  It's a natural looking lash that provides me length and added fullness.  I totally feel like JLo when I wear these gorgeous mink lashes.

Do you see the insert card two pictures above?  Inside it has instructions for care of the lashes as well as some handy tips for application.  I can honestly tell you that with the tip included, I learned the quickest and easiest way for me to apply lashes.

After you have fit them to your eye and trimmed, if needed, and after you have applied the glue to the band, place a mirror on your lap or table and look down into it.  Looking down into the mirror makes lash application so much easier.  Oh my!!  This makes all the difference!!  I've never heard that before!!!  I have always put them on facing a mirror, which is 10,000 times harder than simply looking down into a mirror and popping them on.  Thank you, ESQIDO for this handy useful tip!!  So be sure to read the inside of the insert.  So helpful!!

You can see they have a nice length:

false lashes, cruelty free

My upper and lower eyelids have been puffy and watery with allergies since we moved.  It's been difficult to deal with, both in how it feels and looks.  My upper lids are so puffy that you can barely see my eyes!!  Thankfully, the ESQIDO mink lashes are long enough to combat the puffiness and yet look very natural on my eyes.  And they are so lightweight that they don't bother me at all.  Very comfortable!!

I'm not at all happy about the puffiness or the darkness from allergies, but I'm really happy with the lashes.  I can't emphasize enough how totally comfortable they are.  You'll forget you even have them on until you look in the mirror.

One lucky winner will receive a pair of ESQIDO lashes to enjoy.  This giveaway is open internationally.  So have fun, enter, and have a blast with your lashes!!

Michael Todd Soniclear Elite Cleansing Antimicrobial Face And Body Cleansing Brush

Today I want to tell you about the Michael Todd Soniclear Elite cleansing system, a new and innovative electronic brush with microbacterial product protection and patent pending C-boost technology, ($149).  That's a mouthful to say, isn't it?  But it's important because those details are what set the Soniclear Elite brush apart from any others you've experienced to date.

antimicrobial, C-Boost, skincare, body care, review

The Soniclear Elite is a sonic cleansing device with six modes and two brushes; a body brush and a facial brush.  The Elite has a built-in antimicrobial system which cleanses the brush and keeps it from staining, a really important element to help keep your skin clear.  If your brush has bacteria, it will definitely affect your skin negatively.   Michael Todd has created the first self-cleaning sonic cleansing brush.  Your brush heads stay cleaner long, i.e. most brushes will tell you to replace the brush head in 3 months.  With this self-cleaning system, the suggested replacement period is six months!!  Saving you money!!

Soniclear operates a little differently than most brushes you may have experienced.  The brush heads don't turn in a circle but use sonic technology to vibrate the bristles with over 18,000 massaging movements per minute, in a variety of speeds.  You choose whether low, medium or high is your desired speed with just a push of a button.

antimicrobial, C-Boost, skincare, body care, review

The Soniclear Elite is lighter weight than a lot of brushes and fits easily in my hand.  It has two rubberized grips on the side for easier holding when your hands are wet or soapy.  You can see on the neck that it has three buttons.  The bottom button turns the device on and off.  The middle button is for speed control and the top button is for the C-Boost technology.  One can easily hit the button and change speeds or add a C-Boost while the product is in use.  There are two little lights above the controls that tell you if you're using the device on cleansing mode or C-Boost.

C-Boost technology is a first to the skincare brush industry.  When you push the C-Boost button, you get a special cycle that massages to stimulate circulation and stimulates collagen and elastin production.  With the increased circulation, toxins are flushed out from the skin's surface.  Increasing collagen and elastin will plump up the skin and improve texture, two things you definitely want to combat aging skin!

Clinical studies have shown, (from the Michael Todd website):
  • Clinically validated to improve the appearance of fine lines by 84% in 8 weeks
  • Clinically validated to improve skin firmness by 70% in 8 weeks
  • Clinically validated to improve skin texture by 91% in 8 weeks

In the picture above, the facial brush is on the device handle and the body brush is to the side. The area of the facial brush is about half that of the body brush.  Both are good sizes for their intended use.  The Soniclear Elite is waterproof so don't hesitate to take it in the shower and give your skin a good massage.

antimicrobial, C-Boost, skincare, body care, review, charcoal detox

The brushes are easily changed.  Just twist the brush head and pull it off.  Then twist to tighten the new brush head on.

The brush has six speeds; three for the face and three for the body.  The Elite actually knows the difference between the brushes and which set of speeds to use.  It has an automatic skin cleaning cycle and turns off once it's done.  If you require more time, as I do, just hit the on switch for another round.

When you first receive the Soniclear Elite, be sure to charge it for a full 24 hours before use.  The lights on the back will tell you when it's charged.

antimicrobial, C-Boost, skincare, body care, review, charcoal detox

The first self-cleaning antimicrobial brush of it's kind, you can find the Michael Todd Soniclear Elite, ($149.),on their website and at Ulta.  It is available in a variety of colors and comes with a 5 year warranty.

I have seen an improvement in skin texture since I've been using this, as well as better looking pores, especially when I use it with the Michael Todd Charcoal Detox Deep Pore Gel Cleanser, ($23/200 ml).  I received the cleanser before the Soniclear Elite so I've been using it a few months.  It unclogs my pores like nobody's business and the Soniclear Elite wisks all the badies away.

I've never looked forward to washing my face until I received these products, but I'm not kidding you when I tell you washing my face is one of the delights of my day.  I believe my skin is definitely improving.  Charcoal is a great ingredient in skincare which purifies pores and draws all the ick out.  I had a lot of trouble with makeup left in my pores after cleansing before I started using the Charcoal Detox along with the rechargeable Soniclear Elite.

Be sure to take a look at The Soniclear Elite while at Ulta and read about it and the Charcoal Detox Cleanser on their website.  You can also follow them on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Have you been introduced to Michael Todd yet?  What do you use to wash your face?

4 KB Shimmer Fall 2015 Collection Nail Polishes, Swatches and Review

Halloween, glitter, crelly, jelly, swatches, review

Today I have four nail polishes from the new Fall 2015 Collection by KB Shimmer that launched this week to celebrate fall and Halloween.  The full collection is 12 polishes and I'm pleased to show you 1/3 of it today.

In the picture above, the four polishes are:
Talk Qwerty To Me, a smooth shimmering teal nail polish, that contains teal and gold microshimmers.  I'd like to emphasize that this is a shimmer that applies smooooooothly.

Be Scareful, an white crelly polish that contains orange and black shapes in circles, hexes, stars and triangles.  And it glows in the dark!!

Dark & Twisty, a black jelly with multiple colors of fine metallic glitters that glow when the light hits them like 1000 Christmas lights.

Teal It To My Heart, a teal cream one coat wonder.

I love them all.  The first manicure I did was with Be Scareful and Dark & Twisty

crelly, jelly, review

I have just a couple of comments about each polish.  I LOVE the whitish crellys done by KB Shimmer with the different glitters, so I was thrilled to get this one.  The glitters went on easily without a lot of fishing and one thing that I found really fun was the designs that the glitters combine to make.  One triangle combined with a dot to look like a tree...a good reminder Christmas will be here before we know it!!  And the orange stars...win!!  Look about in the middle of the bottle below.

And imagine the surprise I got when I went to bed the first night and saw my nails glowing!!

Halloween, jelly, crelly, glitter, swatches

I wore Be Scareful with Dark & Twisty.  Any fraction of light that hits this polish results in an explosion of flashing color.  It should come with a 'don't wear while driving" disclaimer because you get totally drawn into the beautiful bright flecks.

It applies like a dream and I was honestly so surprised at how much life is in this.  It's my favorite of the four I have.

You can see that it even sparkles brightly on a cloudy day as below.  Three coats.

The second manicure I did had a teal theme.  I used Teal It To My Heart and Talk Qwerty To Me for a little nail art.  Teal It To My Heart is a one-coater.  Both polishes are really smooth to apply and wear very well.

Halloween, swatches, talk Qwerty to Me, Teal It To My Heart

My camera had the most trouble capturing Talk Qwerty To Me adequately.  Trust me, it's a really pretty teal shimmer.

Fall 2015

Both colors are such pretty teals!!  Below in the sun:

And in studio lighting:

There are eight more pretty polishes in the Fall 2015 KB Shimmer collection.  The polishes are a steal with prices ranging from $7.50 to $8.75 for a large 15 ml bottle.  While you're there, be sure to pick up the Clearly On Top Quick Dry Top Coat.  It's only $5.50 and is a total winner in the quick dry department.

KB Shimmer also sells a variety of tools, hand and body care, as well as nail art products.  Their products are fun and affordable.

What colors are you rocking for fall?  Have you checked out the KB Shimmer Fall 2015 Collection?

Tarte Cosmetics Energy Noir Palette Swatches and Review

Have you seen the new Energy Noir palette that's out from Tarte Cosmetics?  Let's investigate it with this picture heavy blog post.

eyeshadow

You can see that this palette has eight shadows, a blush and a highlighter.  They work very well together.

The three shadow shades across the top of the palette are:
Full Moon, a very light matte beige
Charged Up. a medium taupey brown with a warm frosted finish
Dark Drive, a dark brown with a plummy tone and a matte finish

The second row of three shades contains:
Stone Unturned, a taupey plum brown with a matte finish
Up To Slate, a medium purple-taupe with a frosted finish
Misty Mauve, a medium purple that has both violet and taupey tones to it.

Across the bottom of the palette are the two darkest shadows and a highlighting shade.

At the left of the bottom row is the gorgeous eggplant purple Power Plum, which is a matte shade.
To right is Lunar Eclipse, a medium toned warm black matte.

eyeshadow, blush, highlighter

The highlighting shade on the far right of the bottom row is Crystal Spark, a peachy beige with champagne shine.

eyeshadow, face palette, blush

The 12 hour blush in the palette is called Unearthed, a nude peachy pink and will show either more peach or pink tinted based on your skintone.

Undressed blush, highlighter, eyeshadow

I find that Tarte eyeshadows swatch a little powdery on my arm sometimes but apply flawlessly to my eyes.  I love the range of color in this palette and how well it wears together.

The Tarte Energy Noir palette has become my favorite and a go to for looks from casual to smoky.  Here's a recent easy going look I did.

Misty Mauve is definitely now my favorite crease shade.  I really love all the colors in the palette but Misty Mauve is probably my favorite.  I used Charged Up in the inner eye, Up Too Slate on the lid and Stone Unturned at the outer edge.  Easy peasy, simple and my husband loved it.  I truly adore this face palette.

One last look:

face, blush, highlighter, swatches, review,

I swatched this one day in the store on my hand and I was completely captivated by the two middle taupe shadows.  They were continually on my mind, and I purchased the palette thinking that the two taupes and the highlighter would be used the most, but every single color in this palette looks good in use and I'm very impressed with the wear.   They are creamy to apply and the shadows and blush wear all day for me.  The two darkest shades make a nice cut crease, liner or smoky eye.  Full Moon is awesome under the brow.  I'm wearing Undressed blush with everything.  I really feel you just can't lose with this palette.

You can purchase the palette at Tarte CosmeticsSephora and Ulta for just $38.  I think you'll get a lot of use out of it as I am.

The Energy Noir palette is my current favorite palette ever....what is yours?

Nail Art With Gelish Urban Cowgirl Collection, Swatches and More

When I was at Cosmoprof North America this year, I had an appointment to meet with Morgan Taylor Nail Lacquer and Gelish Soak-Off gel polish.  The first collection coming out jointly with both companies is the Urban Cowgirl Collection.  I made a mental shopping list when I saw the colors to pick them up as soon as possible.  I want to show them to you while they're still in stores so that you can plan accordingly.  I have the Gelish Minis for you today.

nail art, Rodeo

My little horsies made fast friends with this collection.  From left to right, they are:

From Rodeo to Rodeo Drive -  a taupe with a purple tone and very light shimmer within.  I LOVE this.  You need it for fall!!  Perfect in just two coats.

Tan My Hide - beige cream with light shimmer.  This can be a little streaky as light colors often are, but it easily covers in three light coats.  I used it as a base for my nail art.

Holy Cow-Girl! - an awesome green with a hint of grey to it.  This is my favorite in the bunch and Rodeo is second.  I don't have another green like it.

Pumps or Cowbody Boots - in person, you can see that it's a brown toned deep burgandy.  Unfortunately, in my pictures under the lighting, it looks quite the same as Plum Tuckered Out but you can easily tell in person that this one is brown toned.  It's a nifty color.

Tex'as Me Later - described by the company as a coppered rose satin...I can't think of a better way to describe it other than to say that the rose is more dominant than the copper.  I used one coat in the nail art but if you wanted to wear it alone, you should use 2-3 even coats.

Plum Tuckered Out - A deep purple eggplant.  The difference between the two deep polishes is more obvious in person than studio lighting.

The swatches are in the same order as the picture above:

gel polish, nail art, Morgan Taylor

Isn't the sage green of Holy Cow-Girl! so beautiful??  I have another swatch photo where you can see the shimmers.  See the faint teal shimmers:

gel polish, nail polish, gel, morgan taylor

So I decided to try a Southwestern manicure, as inspiried by these gel polishes.  I used some nail vinyls.  This was an experiment since I've never used vinyls with gel before.  And honestly, I wasn't sure if you could do a double coat over a vinyl after curing, so the colors applied over Tan My Hide are all one coat.

Morgan Taylor

nail polish, swatches, Morgan Taylor

Doing nail art with gel polishes is a little bit of a learning curve for me, as you can see, but I LOVED doing this.  My family loved it and it wore until I took it off over a week later.  It was really fun!!

Be sure to look for Gelish Mini Soak Off Gels at Sally Beauty Supply where they retail for $13.99 each.

Have fun!  And if you don't mind.....before you go, tell me your best gel nail art secret!
