For The Perfect Pout This Holiday, Consider Buxom Cosmetics Plumping Lip Sets Plus Giveaway

Buxom Cosmetics has some awesome holiday gift sets that you may like to give or put on your own wish list.  These are the holidays unleashed!!  Guaranteed to release your inner slaying babe.  I have two lip sets to show you and one to give away!!

First is Plump, Pucker & Prowl, ($32), a plumping 6 piece mini lip collection.  It contains 3 mini Plumpline lip liners and 3 mini Full-on lip creams.

The mini plumplines are about half of the full size.  I purchased some of these this year and fell in love!  The Plumpline lip liners will be in my best of 2017, lips version, roundup; they're just that long lasting and comfortable.  The liners are creamy, matte, wear for a very long time, and have a brush on one end for blending.  The colors in this set are Dolly Danger, (mauve), Stealth, (nude), and Undercover, (brown).

plumpline, lip liner

The Full-On Lip Cremes have a tingling plumping action without being painful.  They can be worn alone or layered for maximum color push.  The glosses give a beautiful glassy shine.  The 3 colors in this set are Rose Julep, (pink punch), Blushing Margarita, (rosy nude), and Moscow Mule, (warm tawny).  They are .07 fl oz each.  The Buxom Full-On Lip Cremes are so popular that they have achieved cult-like status.

These 6 products come in a nice sturdy animal print box that can be kept on the vanity.  There is a lot of versatility in this set as well.  You could break it up into three sets to share as stocking stuffers or for people in your office.  The possibilities are endless!  This set is sold at Ulta and online at the Buxom Cosmetics website.

Next up is the big daddy of the gift sets, Lips Off Leash, ($59).  The set contains 7 x .07 oz Lip Polishes and 8 x .07 oz Lip Cremes.

Look at all the beautiful colors!!!  This would make a fantastic gift for anyone.  Buxom Cosmetics makes glosses in a wide array of colors in the two finishes and this is an awesome introduction to the products.  It is also a perfect gift for the Buxom lover or anyone who likes a little gloss with their pout.  You can also break this set up and put them in gift bags for neighbors, the girl at the grocery checkout, or your kids...but be sure to slip your favorite into your pocket as well!

On the top row are the Lip Polishes, a plumping comfortable shiny shimmer sheer gloss.  From left to right, in the box and the swatches, are Brooke, Clair, Sophia, Jasmine, Stacy, Jill and Kayla.  I love the mini sizes because it makes me feel like I can actually use them up and feel accomplished while wearing them.

The swatches are in the studio and then in full sun.

The second row contains the 8 Lip Creams in Pink Champagne, Peach Daquiri, Dolly, Mudslide, Berry Bramble, Wild Orchid, Cherry Flip, Sangria.

This particular set is like a whole year's worth of lip shades to play with!!  You can find it at Sephora, Ulta, and on the Buxom Cosmetics website.

Lest we should forget, all the regular Buxom products will make awesome gifts as well.  I'd urge you to check out the Big & Sexy Bold Gel Lipsticks, ($22).  The wear is incredible whether worn alone or over a Plumpliner.  They are creamy and comfortable.  I received the perfect pink nude that I'd always searched for this year in White Russian.

In the swatch picture below, White Russian lipstick is at the top, White Russian Wildly Whipped Liquid Lipstick, ($21 and I also recommend checking these out), Pink Champagne Lip Cream and Peach Daquiri Lip Cream.

If you wander to my Instagram here you'll see that I used quite a few Buxom eyeshadows in my kitty look.  And I'm all Superhero'ed up in Buxom Cosmetics on this post as well.  There are others if you'd like to wander through.  I just want you to know that you've got to check out Buxom Cosmetics for your gift giving this year.

Buxom Cosmetics does not test on animals nor do they purchase products from third parties who test.  Buxom is free of parabens, sulfates, and phthalates.  Visit them on their website, and follow along on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. to learn more and see some awesome makeup looks.

So c'mon and enter to win a brand new Lips Off Leash set of 15 glosses!!  I've been wearing mine but yours is brand spanking NEW!  Someone will win - WHY NOT YOU??

For Soft Supple Wintertime Lips, Try Herpecin L

This post is sponsored by the Primp Network.  All opinions and experiences are my own.

I don't know about you, but my lips can get really chapped going into winter.  The blowing wind and use of the home and car heaters zap the air of the moisture that my lips need to survive.  Increasing my use of liquid lipsticks to keep the seasonal red in place can sometimes add to my deficient lip condition.  It can hit all of a sudden as I feel the discomfort of dry lips and realize I need to increase my application of lip balm.  Enter Herpecin L.

Now I know you're thinking "HerpecinL, isn't that for herpes simplex virus, HEV-1, cold sores or canker sores or whatever you want to call them?"  Yes, actually it is a cold sore treatment but so much more.  HerpecinL helps treat cold sores and their uncomfortable complications such as burning, itching and oozing by applying a medication that speeds up recovery.  It should make that fever blister last less than a week!  I'm fortunate that I don't have fever blisters but it's estimated that 50-80% of adults in 1st world countries have been subjected to the virus via friends or family.   Most people get it in infancy or childhood - something to remember when old Aunt Edna insists on a kiss from a child that is too timid to do so!  I know how embarassing it feels to get a sore, but honestly it is nothing to be ashamed of and HerpecinL can help to heal it faster!

My experience with HerpecinL has been nothing short of remarkable.  When the balm arrived, I was a couple of weeks into my yearly term of chapped lips.  Really chapped.  So chapped that they hurt.  I had gotten out of the habit of using much in the way of protection on my lips as summer was pretty much over and my use of sunscreen sticks when I went outside had diminished.  I hadn't thought much about lip protection while indoor and didn't know I was getting into a flaky place until I was there.

HerpecinL is in a tube like a typical lip balm.  Pop the top and roll the clear balm up to apply.  It has SPF 30 so it's perfect for both winter and summer activity and is an excellent healer for chapped lips while providing sun protection and a protecting barrier during your outdoor activities.  My lips are particularly sensitive to sun so it's important to me to keep them covered with an SPF when I'm outside, whether it is in the summer heat of Phoenix or when it was from the sun glistening off the snow in Alaska.  I've got to have SPF in my balm!

It was just a couple of days that I used the Herpecin L until the sore chapped feeling was gone and my lips have been smooth and supple with regular use.  I can't believe it.  My lips have always been flaky at some point during the day prior to using this product.  And I should tell you, there is no scent but a delicious vanilla flavor.  It's a treat to wear it.

HerpecinL is truly a hidden gem in the drugstore and it's recommended by pharmacists as a cold sore treatment.  Plus, it's under 5 bucks for a tube.  I have one that I take in my purse and one by my bed.  I need a third for my desk area and I'll be adequately covered!  I think this would make an excellent stocking stuffer for everyone from family to friends, neighbors and co-workers.

Ingredients: Dimethicone 1% (skin protectant), Methyl Anthranilate 5% (sunscreen), Octyl Methoxycinnamate 7.5% (sunscreen), Octyl Salicylate 5% (sunscreen), Oxybenzone 6% (sunscreen), Helianthus Annuus Oil (hybrid sunflower), Petrolatum, Ozokerite, Mineral Oil, Microcrystalline Wax, Talc, Titanium Dioxide, Beeswax, Melissa Officinalis Extract (balm mint), Cetyl Lactate, Glyceryl Laurate, Flavor, Lysine HCI, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Tocopherol, Pyridoxine HCl, Panthenol, BHT

HEV-1 is so common, I think it might even be more prevalent than the common cold!  Keep HerpecinL around for those with the virus and for anyone with lips.  You'll be kissably soft with regular use and protected from the harmful sun's rays.

HerpecinL is available in family and multi-packs, as well as singles, at Walmart.  Be sure to follow them on Facebook and learn more about the brand on their website.

What are the hidden gems that you've found in the drugstore?

Live Your Unicorn Style With Lime Crime Unicorns Hi-Lite Highlighter and Diamond Crushers

The unicorn life isn't for everyone.  Sparking tones and wild colors do have their place, tho, with the bold and the beautiful.  I particularly love going a little extra with my makeup during the holiday season and I will easily vary from the norm.  I love the experimenting that makeup provides and these Lime Crime products fit that artistic desire.   (Briefly, I am aware there was drama with this brand, although I never paid attention to the particulars since I didn't own any of the brand.  I know that they have worked hard to change and have been drama free for years.  I do think people deserve second chances to prove growing maturity and  the wisdom to change, so I agreed to try their products.  Some other brands would do well to follow this example.)  Lime Crime is a certified vegan and cruelty free brand.

The Diamond Crushers, ($18), are a unique type of  product that can be used anywhere - lips, cheeks, eyes, and body.  They are packaged with a clear wanded tube like a lipgloss that has a pretty textured metallic light pink cap.  They are formulated with a base color and light glitters, however, they are very smooth, rather than a chunky or gritty type of feel.  You can easily wear these on the lips over a favorite lipstick and not have to worry about eating grit or glitter all day.  The product dries down almost immediately and you just see a light layer of glitter.  The swatches I have for you make the colors look bold but honestly, when I swipe them on my lips, I don't see as much of a lip topper color as I do the glitter.  I'd love to see these glitters in a little heavier base or I would love for them to make metallic glosses like this in these colors, including the glitter.  Yeah, cuz I'm a sparkly little unicorn that loves to play.

I received four colors to try; Black Unicorn, which I wore over a black lipstick on Halloween in my Polarbelle look, (see it here),, and a bundled set of three called Unicorn Queen, ($40), containing Unicorn Queen, Meadow and Over The Rainbow.

unicorn

From the top, Over the Rainbow is a sparkling nude in the tube and contains a rainbow glitter.  I'd LOVE to have this color as a metallic lip.

Meadow is green on green.  I like to wear sheer greens over a coral base on the lips, which makes the coral look especially juicy.  And honestly, on my eyes and lips, the Diamond Crushers go on so sheer that you just don't see the color as in the tube.  You'd have to pile it on in layers to get that type of coverage.  I went heavy on the hand swatch which hardly shows the glitter at all, because they're so smooth.  I layered the coverage of the swatches.

unicorn

Unicorn Queen has a pink toned violet base with iridescent violet glitters.  I'd love to see these glitters in a pink toned violet lip gloss.

Black Unicorn has violet and tiny black glitters and gives the fullest coverage, however it is still what I'd call sheer, showing mainly the glitter.

Overall, I think the Diamond Crushers are really pretty and sheer enough for most people. They are best worn over other colors as a base on the lips and eyes.  I'd love to see a little more boost to the coverage and color for myself.

The other product I received is the Unicorns Hi-Lite Highlighting Trio palette, (21 g / $38).  The three powder highlights are in a cool pink and purple iridescent palette.

highlighter

The first color is Electric Pink,  a rosy shade with tone-on-tone micro-shimmer.  The middle shade is called Green, and iridescent light green with micro-sparkle and the third shade is Mauve-Gold shift, a light lilac with golden micro-shimmer.

highlighter

I like and wear all three colors.  They will glow when the light hits the high points of your cheek.  The colors are different than what we usually see and the micro-sparkle might be a bit much for some, especially in a typical office type setting.

highlighter

The powders apply smoothly and I don't find any shimmer fallout.  The highlights last until I take them off so I'm a big fan.  While I realize sparkle and shine aren't for everyone, I'm really enjoying wearing this as I go about my business and especially to holiday events.

You can find Lime Crime on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter. Tumblr and Pinterest.  There is a long list on the Lime Crime website for additional places to purchase the brand, including Ulta.

How about you?  Do you have a time of year when you like to play a little more and vary from your traditional type of look?

I hope you'll find something interesting for you in the videos.  It's such a busy time!!  Again I really apologize that I didn't keep you up to date during Thanksgiving.  I know everyone must have been as busy as I was, and I took a lot of family time over the week.  But I didn't forget you guys!!  I promise.

Charlotte Tilbury Unisex Healthy Glow, Light Wonder and Magic Foundation Reviews!!

A couple of weeks ago, I was fortunate to receive some samples of complexion products from Charlotte Tilbury.  I absolutely adore this company and the products so it was super exciting!  Right away, I began to put them to the test.  The three products I received are the Unisex Healthy Glow, (1.7 oz / $40), Light Wonder Youth Boosting Perfect Skin Foundation in my color #3, (1.4 oz / $46), and the Magic Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 15 also in number 3, (1 oz / $44).

Unisex Healthy Glow, Light Wonder, Magic

The Unisex Healthy Glow is a all year round moisturizing healthy tint.  It gives a bit of radiance and hydration to the skin on application.  These are the claims:  "Encapsulated chameleon natural tan pigments are secret pigment colors that are revealed upon application, and once blended, the different tones deliver a natural color result. Charlotte formulated a magic mix of bronze, black and terracotta pigments that morph to become the perfect natural tan tone as you massage them together. It also contains a combination of moisture-regulating ingredients that mimic bouncy lipids in healthy skin."

Unisex Healthy Glow, Light Wonder, Magic

When I first used this, I was surprised that it comes out as a white liquid.  I put it on my face and it didn't stay white or blanch my face color at all.  In fact, I found that it made my skin look better, as if there was a fancy photo filter on it.

Unisex Healthy Glow, Light Wonder, Magic

I found it really unusual because I couldn't detect any color or see the product on my face and yet my face looked better than it does naked.  When I swatch it on my arm, I can see a bit of a bronzey tint, but I don't detect it on my face at all.  It's just like a second skin as it blends in giving me a "my skin but better" look.

Unisex Healthy Glow, Light Wonder, Magic

I am continuing to use this as a primer under my foundation.  I prefer some coverage but I love how the Healthy Glow makes my skin look and it makes a very nice primer.  This product doesn't contain SPF so be sure to use your sunscreen.

Light Wonder Youth Boosting Perfect Foundation, (SPF 15), is in the middle of the swatch pictures.  You can see that it is more fluid in comparison to the Magic foundation at the top of the swatches.  Additionally, while both products are in #3, Light Wonder is just ever so slightly pinker in tone, which I like.   And let's talk about Charlotte Tilbury's packaging...all classic with accents of rose gold and brown.  I just love it!

Unisex Healthy Glow, Light Wonder, Magic

I've been wearing Light Wonder for a little over a year as one of my regular go-to foundations.  I did a red carpet look during awards season earlier in the year wearing it.  I love how it looks on.  I imagine that's due to the youth boosting actives that it contains that even the complexion and boost hydration.  It is a light to medium finish.  Here are the claims:  "Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder Youth-Boosting Perfect Skin Foundation is an air-light formula that illuminates, smoothes, hydrates, minimizes pores and reduces wrinkles for perfect skin."  It absolutely makes my skin look perfect and luminous.

Charlotte Tilbury's Magic Foundation is the most incredible bottle of genius I've ever worn.  It is a full coverage, (although you can sheer it to achieve medium coverage, if you want), and it doesn't feel heavy or mask-y.  It provides a beautiful demi-matte finish.   And let's talk about the gorgeous retro packaging!

Unisex Healthy Glow, Light Wonder, Magic

The Magic Foundation has been my choice of foundation since it arrived at my house.  I recently went to The Makeup Show in LA, and this was the foundation I chose to wear when how I looked mattered.  I find the coverage incredible for how lightweight it is.  I am currently experiencing some dermatitis from a gluten contamination on my chin,  (I've talked about this in the past.  It's pretty horrible and will last for months after an accidental ingestion of gluten.)  It's bumpy and it's ugly.  One swipe of the Magic Foundation and you can't even tell it's there!!  The bumps are a purpley-red so I feel certain I can tell you that a light application of this foundation would absolutely cover rosacea as well.  If you have acne, birthmarks or melasma, I feel confident this foundation will cover it and even your skintone.  Bold claims, but girl!  If you could see what it covers for me!!!

While I was at The Makeup Show, feeling confident in my Charlotte Tilbury Healthy Glow and Magic Foundation, I stopped by their booth where they were exhibiting for the first time.  If you'd like to see a Get Ready With Me with some of the things I purchased there, check out my recent video, posted below.

You can purchase the Charlotte Tilbury Cosmetics on her website or at Nordstrom.  Follow on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube, and Google+   As always, Charlotte Tilbury products are paraben free.   What is your favorite Charlotte Tilbury item?

Polarbelle's Week In Review

The past week has been a very busy one for me.  There were quite a few appointments, lots of swatching and testing, and a few videos that went out.  In case you hadn't been able to check them out, I'll just show you what I've talked about over the week.

One of the booths I visited while at The Makeup Show in LA was Charlotte Tilbury, one of my favorite brands.  I love the classic appeal of the packaging and the items themselves.  I'll have more up on the blog soon but for now, you can check out my Get Ready With Me featuring the Instant Eye Palette, a limited edition.

The next video I recorded featured my stop at the Muse Beauty Pro booth at TMSLA.  I planned to go there first to pick up a few things.  I also came home with the Grande Pro Palette, a limited edition matte palette.  I've swatched the items purchased at the booth and you can see them in the following video.  You'll see more about these items as I continue to explore them.  Don't miss the giveaway at the end of the video.

My November Sephora Play box came in while I was filming the other videos, so I have my analysis here:

See my Crimes Of Beauty shirt?  I bought it at The Makeup Show while surveying the goods at the Crimes Of Beauty booth.  It's actually a tank but for winter, I plan to layer it with another shirt.

I've scheduled some videos for the upcoming week and plan to have more for you to read as well.  There's just so much to tell you right now!!!

Be sure to enter the giveaway on the Muse Beauty Pro TMSLA post, and look for another coming up this week.

How about you?  Do you feel like you have so much going on and the latter part of the year is starting to whiz by at record speed?

Halloween Week Makeup Look Extragavanza

In the week leading up to and including Halloween, I was challenged to create some unique makeup looks.  My initial inspiration came from a package I received via Buxom Cosmetics.  I shared all the looks on Instagram but I thought I'd bring to you all the fun that I had.  I haven't done anything Halloween-ish beside handing out candy since I was 14.  This all really was fun.

My first look was a 2017 take on 80's Madonna in the Like A Virgin video.  I may have sang and danced my way through Snapchat and IG stories that night, rumor has it...oh wait, that's an Adele song!

I couldn't find a picture that wasn't all fuzzy from the video but below is from the same time frame:

Products Used:
Eyes are @viseart Neutral Mattes
@buxomcosmetics Call Me black liner   **pr
#buxomcosmetics Big Tease mascara to plump lashes and a little Buxom waterproof to make them stay put.  **pr
#Madonna brows and mole are @benefitcosmetics Goof Proof brown pencil and Precisely My Brow, 4 and 3. .
Lips are #Buxom Call Me eye liner, . Buxom Code Red Plumping Lip Liner, (these pencils are SO my jam!)

The third look was something I wanted to do with my dog.  She's a rap star, you know, right?  She does benefit concerts and stuff....I had a full scenario for her return to the stage after a leg injury but she just wasn't having it.   In my imagination, we were dressed as her former sister in a Mommy and Me contest.

She wouldn't play, so I filmed my October Ipsy and Sephora Play unboxings.  You can see that here:

. Products:
@fentybeauty foundation to prime the canvas
@katvondbeauty Lock It Concealer used in a different way today

I thought it would be so funny to dress up like another youtuber.  I picked Desi Perkins.  Here is my inspirational picture from Desi's Instagram:

And here I am being an older Desi.  I'm probably the only one who thought that was funny.

If you know me, you know I am glued to baseball playoffs and the World Series every year, and even more so when my team is playing!  Clayton Kershaw, the Dodger Ace, was due to pitch on Game 5 and I was ready!!!  Here I am as Kershaw's Killer Slider.

Polarbelle Halloween

Products:
White Grease Paint . @makeuprevolution Ghost Sculpt powder
@nyxcosmetics Milk Jumbo eye pencil
@collab lash primer from @sallybeauty . @katvondbeauty Hemingway Ink liner . @nyxcosmetics Vivid Liquid liner in the red color...which exploded but it worked out ok. . Let's go Dodgers!!!

And last but not least, I dressed up as a Polarbelle for Halloween.  When I meet a new person and they learn my online name, they always ask what a Polarbelle is.  I'm from Alaska, so I'm not a Southern Belle, right?  I am an Arctic Princess Warrier, a Polarbelle.  My fantasy interpretation of that is below.   I did film a video so expect to see the Polarbelle in action soon, although it all made my teeth look really yellow, so maybe that's too spooky of a video?

I had a lot of fun just throwing caution to the wind and playing pretend all week for the first time in 100 years.  Can you believe today is November already?!?  I won't dress as a turkey because I wear that costume all year, haha.  Did you do anything fun or get any cool candy this season?
