Beauty For Real Kiss Me Light Up Lipgloss Swatches and Review

One day I opened my mail and found a Beauty For Real Light Up Lipgloss in the color Kiss Me, (.25 oz/$22).  Not only is the color a nice universally flattering nude pink, but the gloss applicator is useful and fun to play with, too!!  I squealed like a little school girl as I showed it off to my family.  It's pretty and functional!  How great is a gloss applicator with a light and a mirror so that you can apply it anywhere?!?!?!

Beauty 4 Real Lipgloss, light up lipgloss, Kiss Me

On the top of the lid is a push button that activates the light. This enables you to quickly apply gloss quickly at a dark romantic dinner, on the go in the back of a cab on the rush to the Oscars, or during a blackout when you want to look fabulous when the lights come back on.  Application anytime, anywhere.

This tube of Beauty For Real lipgloss lightens your evening clutch because you don't need an additional mirror for those quick makeup checks.

The color I received, Kiss Me, is a neutral pink with a light shimmer. I really think it is a universal color that will look good on all skintones and all lip pigmentations.

Let me tell you a little bit about the formula. This is a nice lightweight gloss that doesn't feel sticky, is moisturizing, and has a minty-ness that so many plumping glosses have. It doesn't burn or tingle, it just feels fresh and uses marine collagens to lightly plump lips. The glosses have plant derived anti-oxidants like grape seed extracts and green tea that have anti-aging properties and regenerative properties. They also contain aloe vera and avocado oil which are full of essential vitamins and are highly emollient.

Time for a couple of lip swatches. I truly dig this gloss!

You can purchase Beauty For Real lipglosses, available in 17 colors, on their website for $22.  You can also follow them on Facebook and Twitter.

This gloss just leaves me smiling!

Beauty For Real Will Illuminate Your Makeup Kit With These New Items

Hi Readers!! I am back to tell you about some wonderful new items from Beauty For Real. You may remember that I wrote about their Illuminating Lip Gloss in the color Kiss, a nude pink, awhile back.  It is one of my favorite lipglosses, which I still wear often.  I love the feel and color of the gloss while the convenience of a built in LED light and mirror just can't be beat!!  Today I want to tell you about some of their newer products.  Read on and check out my evaluation.

Illuminating, LED, Really Red, Light On Your Toes, Get Lit, In The Pink, Get Glowing

Ideally, I had hoped to blog these for your gift giving considerations for Christmas.  I am sorry to report I'd been very ill most of the year, but it got worse in the fall, reaching a peak in mid-December, when I received a diagnosis.  Two days later, my husband had some mystery thing strike and spent four days in the hospital.  After that, I had an anaphylaxis type of attack, and you know, that's how my holiday season went.  I am SO sorry to have deserted both my readers and the companies that I enjoy and believe in.  2014 was full of broken bones, surgeries, ripped muscles and illness for me, and I'm saying enough of that, Onward and Upward in 2015!!!!

Let's talk about the Lip Cream, pictured in the first photo on the left.   The color I have and am showing you is Really Red.

Full Coverage, Cupuacu Nut Butter, lipgloss, LED light,

I loved my Illuminating Lip Gloss so much that I was thrilled to see the True Color Lip Cream, ($22, .15 fl oz.), in my package.  It has the same wonderful LED light and mirror in the packaging so that you can apply it anytime and anywhere!  You can even use the light to find things you drop in the movie theater, lol.  (Ha!  That reminds me of my friend Tracy.)

Look how bright the light is!!!

LED light, mirror, full coverage, long wear, Capuacu nut butter

Lip checking mirror:

LED light, mirror, full coverage, long wear, Capuacu nut butter

Really Red Lip Cream is a classic red color.  It can be worn by all skin tones and types.  It is THE perfect red.  It will definitely get noticed, as you will when you wear it.  The great thing about this color and formula for me is that it doesn't run into lip lines.  Red pigments are traditionally the thinest and runniest of all the pigments, making red a lot of work for those of us with lip lines.  I've been wearing this by itself, no liner or special touch-ups needed.  Do you hear that, over 40 people??  IT DOESN'T RUN!!!  The formula is just perfect for staying in place.  The color is perfect and the formula is perfect.  This is, by far, the best liquid lipstick type of formula I've ever used.  And you can feel that it's hydrating, too!  ILOVE THIS GLOSS!!!

You will also love the ingredients.  The cupuacu nut butter, organic neroli and mandarin oils are nourishing plant oils that will condition your lips leaving them more hydrated  and yet wear longer than you'd ever imagine.

Here is the official list of ingredients for the lip cream:
rincus communis (castor seed oil), olive (olea europea oil), cera alba (beeswax), stearalkonium hectorite, silica silylate, theobroma grandiflorum (cupuacu seed butter), propylene carbonate, citrus reticulata (red mandarine oil),citrus aurantium oil (neroli oil). may contain: titanium dioxide (ci 77891), iron oxides (ci 77491, 77492, 77499) red 7 lake (ci 15850:1) mica (ci 77019) red 6 lake (ci 15850) red 40 lake (ci 16035), manganese violet (ci 77742)

Lip swatch:

LED, classic red, lipgloss

You may have noticed that the nail polish makes a great match for the lip cream.  Gosh, these are both just perfect classic red colors.  The Light On Your ToesLight Up Nail Polish, ($15, 15 ml), I received to sample is #1 Red,  It's so beautiful, so classic, and you see before you two coats.

LED light, big 3 free

I love this red!!!  Really.  Truly.  Totally.  I rarely ever wear red, but I will more often now.  This is the perfect neutral red that anyone can wear.  It was perfect for the holiday season and it will be perfect for your upcoming Valentine's Day festivites.  Seriously, just get this.

The nail polish also has the built-in LED light.  GENIUS!!!  Gosh, don't you always wish there was just one more light when you're doing your nails?  I sure do.  With Beauty For Real, just click the button on top and there you go!  Polish away!

LED light, Big 3 free

LED light, big 3 free

LED light

I had this polish on for three days and then got my first chip in the shower.  BUT, I have to tell you, I forgot to put down the Orly Bonder that I always use as a base coat.  Ooops, my bad.  Three days with no base coat is GREAT!!  The Beauty For Real nail polishes are Big 3 Free.

The middle item in the first picture is the Get Glowing Cheek Tint and Luminizer, ($29, 8 gr).  Both are cream products housed in the same container.  The trays swing out so that you can access one or both items at a time and there is also a mirror.  The color set I have is called Get Lit / In The Pink.

In The Pink, highlight, blush, Get Lit

Beauty For Real tells me that not only have these been designed to impart color and highlight to the face but they also have anti-aging properties!!!!   I need this to come in body size!!!

I'm going to show you what the website says about the anti-aging properties.

"How does Luminera work?  As the transparent particles come into contact with the skin, the DIAMOND CORE COMPLEX transforms invisible UV light and works to DRAMATICALLY DIMINISH the expression of wrinkles, discolorations, imperfections, rendering a more YOUTHFUL, even toned and healthy appearance.  Vitamin E and grape-seed extracts provide anti-aging benefits and antioxidant protection."

Let me show you my swatches of the cheek tint and luminizer and the lip cream.  The pictures I took while wearing it on my face washed out the cheek color unfortunatly.  I had a high SPF in my foundation and the glow off SPF tends to wash out the other colors you're wearing, so unfortunately, you won't really see much on me, even though it looked nice in person.

Really red, lipgloss, blush, highlighter, Get Lit, In the Pink

Get Lit, the luminizing highlighter, is on the far left.  It's a beautiful light champagne color.  Very pretty on!!!  In The Pink is the cream color pictured in the middle.  It's a great fresh pink that gives the wearer a nice healthy glow.  These last at least 6 hours on me.  I don't know if they last longer because I'm usually washing my face by that point these days.  Pictured on the far right is the Really Red Lip Cream.

The ingredients in the Cheek Tint and Luminizer, (both of which can be worn to impart color or glow anywhere):
caprylic/capric triglyceride, isophropyl isostearate, polmethyl methacrylate, phenyl dimethicone, hydrogenated castor oil/coplymer, tribemenin, nylon-12, microcrystalline wax, hydrogenated polycyclopentadiene, ozokerite, polymethylsilsesquioxane benzimidazole diamond co-polymer, polyethylene, sorbitan sesquioleate, oleic acid, tocopheryl acetate, vanillin, pomegranate, bht, may contain: mica (ci 77019), titanium dioxide (ci 77891), iron oxides (ci77491, 77492, 77499), bismuth oxychloride, carmine (ci 75470), red 7 lake (ci 15850:1), yellow 5 lake (ci 19140) - See more at:

So one day, I was wearing these great products and decided to head out shopping.  I took some gratuitous pictures first so that you could see the products in action.  You can even can get a hint of the blush and luminizer.  Seriously, how perfect is the Really Red Lip Cream?

lipgloss, cheek tint, luminizer

I took a few pictures, got ready to head out, when...SUDDENLY.......

blush, LED light, luminizer, highlight, lipgloss

I got a GREAT idea for my husband's birthday, which is coming up.  Ahem, notice how perfectly the nail color matches the lip cream!!!  FANTASTIC!!

It's a great idea that I have, so you are sworn to secrecy!!!  Don't tell!!!!

lipgloss, cheek tint, blush, luminizer, highlighter

You can purchase Beauty For Real on their website.  Be sure to check the Gift Set section where you can buy different groupings that go together.  You can find my matching lipgloss cream and nail polish offered as a set in there was well.  Easy peasy!!  I love that things are matched up for us or we can purchase them individually too!  Remember your friends and Beauty For Real for Valentine's!

Now before I go, having spent a significant amount of time on the Beauty For Real website, I found an amazing program that they have called Beauty And Grace.  I was very touched to read this.   I am going to share the program as laid out by the website.  There is also a spot to nominate people.  This is so fantastic!!

Beauty And Grace:
The Beauty and Grace campaign is designed to recognize women who not only look beautiful, but who are actively doing beautiful things that are positively changing other's lives. The Beauty Heroines featured here are just examples of women who represent a unique cause and how it touches them in a personal way. To honor and celebrate her outstanding contribution within the community, Beauty For Real will donate 25% of sales of her favorite BFR product from the website to her cause of choice during that month.

That's so cool!!  I love that they're doing this.  Do you have a Beauty Heroine you'd like to nominate?  Can you think of any better first world device than an LED light on your lipgloss and nail polish?  What is your favorite classic red?

I hope everyone had a great holiday season!

(Kevin James Bennett teaching. Credit: The Makeup Show)

For the second year, the team at Polarbelle HQ attended The Makeup Show LA in the first week of November. It was an incredible wealth of teaching and learning opportunities, artisan workshops and beauty shopping.  I'm always so incredibly inspired spending time with such talented and knowledgeable artists. I think TMS does it best by bringing top industry professionals who genuinely want to share their experience and knowledge with others in the same career field.  You just don't find that everywhere.  I love the generosity with which the speakers share triumphs, pitfalls and tips for success.  It's one of the best experiences an artist can have, in my opinion.

I have a post show wrap-up today for your reading pleasure.  We were fortunate to be able to hear The Makeup Show's Artist Director James Vincent talk about these trends in person.  They were further and forever stamped in my mind as I listened to famed celebrity makeup artists Pati Dubroff and Sarah Tanno, who iterated many of the same points.  For instance, they both said that skin is in and that when doing print work, photographers hate if you apply foundation to the subject.  I've never worked in print beyond this blog so I had no idea.  I was surprised!  My objective on the blog is cover it all up at all costs....right?  And in the instagram makeup world, people apply a ton of makeup and photoshop it all, giving you the idea that you have to wear 15 layers of product to fit in.  Not in the world of the actual working makeup artist.

The Makeup Show LA
(The Man, the Myth, the Legend - Jordan Liberty.  Credit:  TMS)

Skin is making itself known, and if you follow Jordan Liberty, (on of my favorite speakers at TMS), on Instagram, you'll know his style focuses on skin.  The idea that less is more and skin is in made a huge impression on me.  I'm glad to see it and hope it lands on Instagram more often in the near future.  I often think kids have been given a bad impression on social media of how to wear makeup if they've come of age in the era of Insta-makeup.

You might like to see a video I have from a new brand to the show Petite N Pretty after you read more about the show and the trends found.    Safe real makeup for kids is a new trend that I think you'll see more of in the consumer market.  Also, I have a video I launched recently covering some of the things I heard and saw at the show, as well as the carefully thought out purchases that I made.  I hope you'll enjoy it.  There's some cute stuff in there!!  I'll have a blog post covering the second video soon.

But in the meantime, let's have a look at the new trends!!!

Artists mingled at The California Market Center this past weekend to stock their kits with the latest product trends from over 85 brands

Los  Angeles,  CA (November  10 & 11 2018)  -‐ The Makeup Show  LA took place this past  weekend on
November 10th and  11th at The California Market  Center. Professional artists, press,  influencers, and brand
executives joined  together for a weekend full of new debuts  and trending products from brands such as
MAKE  UP FOR EVER, Mehron, Crown Brush, Smith Cosmetics,  Danessa Myricks Beauty, Stila,
Urban Decay...and many  more!

In addition, guests shopped exclusive deals from  over 85 beauty brands, attended a variety of hands-‐on
workshops,  and also had the opportunity to interact one-‐on-‐one with some of  today’s leading celebrity artists
such as Pati Dubroff, Stephanie Nicole,  Jordan Liberty, Sarah Tanno, Damone Roberts, and more! Shelly
Taggar, owner  of The Makeup Show, and James Vincent, the show’s Director of Education and Artist  Relations,
walked the show floor to see what the pros were buying, what was flying  off the shelves, and what was trending
amongst brands. Below we dig into the top trends  that this year’s show revealed:

● CELEBRITY  SKIN: Natural   skin is a must-‐have   for this time of year.   Look to the red carpet, runway
or your favorite fashion magazines and  you will see models and celebrities wearing  makeup that is barely
there with a soft matte  finish. A sheer coverage complexion with strategic  warmth and shine is flattering for
any face. Some of  the more popular products amongst the pro’s included:

○ MAKE  UP FOR EVER  Waterblend -‐  Known for their  light-‐weight, water  gel foundation,

● HIGH  BROW: Social  media has made eyebrows  strong and exaggerated for  the last few years and this  season
we see a runway and red  carpet that reacts to that. The brow  is a fuller, denser eyebrow that goes to  the light
or medium tone of the hair. It's  another shape that shows skin and dimension but  still has beautiful presence.
Use a brow pencil to   provide volume. The wax of the pencil sits on top of  the skin and can make a flat brow
feel fuller.
○ Kevyn  Aucoin The  Brow Pencil -‐  Used for the perfect  fill. This product adds  depth and dimension.
○ Crown  Brush Brow  Palette -‐ Used  by makeup artist and  consumers that want beautiful  brows on a budget
and comes in  a wide color range.

season. All over eyeshadow,  a bold swipe of eyeliner or a bit  of brightly colored mascara, are all easy  ways
to take the trend to your everyday.
○ Danessa  Myricks Color  Fix -‐ This long  wear pro favorite that  can be used as cream shadow,  liner, mascara
or lip color.

● I  LOVE ROCK  N ROLL: Traditional  cat eyes are a bit blockier  this season; you can also try  a sexy smudged
cat eye for an  unforgettable modern look. Neo Graphic  Liner is an easy and sexy choice -‐-‐  Pair a bold black
