Chanel Sable-Emouvant Ombre' Contrast Eyeshadow Duo Swatches, Pictures and Review

Released as part of the Chanel Summer 2012 collection, the Sable-Emouvant Ombre' Contrast Eyeshadow Duo is pictured so beautifully on the Nordstrom webpage that I almost feel a little silly showing you my own pictures and swatches.  What is a beauty blog for if not homemade pictures and swatches, so let's continue, shall we?

Pictured with the brush and the sponge tip in the container, with flash, this is what you see when you open the package.

Chanel Sable-Emouvant Eyeshadow Duo

Remove the plastic and brushes and you have this duo, a mid-toned brown with micro-sized red shimmers and a golden beige, with microscopic shimmer particles.

Chanel Sable-Emouvant Eyeshadow Duo

Swatching the products reveals the shimmers lurking within that give the colors added dimension and interest on the eye. You'll find that the brown actually has hints of coppery shine to it. Also, Chanel eyeshadows are formulated so that you can use them wet for intensifying the color, if you wish, or dry for a softer look.

Chanel Sable-Emouvant Eyeshadow Duo Swatch

You can see that the beige just about matches my skintone. My eyelids, however, are much redder than the rest of my skin and I have applied the shadows over a base. I wet the beige a little at the center of my eye to intensify the color over the iris, but the flash of the camera pretty much washes out the color. Oh just take my word, it was fabulous, lol.

Chanel Sable-Emouvant Eyeshadow Duo

I used the colors as-is, with no other liner but the shadow itself so that you could see the colors. I have bigger than normal pictures because I want you to see my cheekbone. The deeper color that you see is the Soleil de Tan Chanel Bronzing Powder Sable Rose.  It's important that you see what it looks like on because I haven't blogged it yet.  :)

Chanel Sable-Emouvant Eyeshadow Duo

The overall look was with my Dior Diorshow Brow Styler, the Chanel Sable Rose Bronzer where you see the dip in the cheekbone, Diorskin Healthy Glow Enhancing Powder Bronzer in Sunlight at the top of the cheekbone, Nars Moscow Matte Lipstick with a little Chanel En Vogue Coco Shine thrown over the Nars just for a little bit of shine.

Chanel Ombre'Contrast Eyeshadow Duos retail for $42 and you'll find them wherever Chanel is sold, including the brand's own website. I purchased mine at Nordstrom.

Which items have you tried so far from the Chanel Summer 2012 Collection? Is there one must-have item for you in this collection? I'd love to hear about it!

Dior Addict Vernis Croisette Collection Ultra Gloss Brown Panama, Orange Pareo, Pink Croisette Swatches

Today I have some quick swatches for you. I placed a pre-order at Nordstrom for their Beauty On Location event and ordered two of the glosses in this collection. When I saw them in person, I snapped up the third, too. Oooooh, the sparkles!!!

From top to bottom, they are 432 Brown Panema, 542 Orange Pareo and 464 Pink Croissette. In the picture, you can't see the shimmers in Orange Pareo so I'll show you that one seperately as well.

Dior Summer 2012 Crosette Lipgloss Collection

Dior Summer Croisette Orange Pareo Lipgloss

Look at the swatches!!! This is what sold me on all three. I pre-ordered the orange and pink and figured I just had enough nude/brown lipglosses already, but when I saw the sparkles, I had to try it on. That showed me it was probably the best was va-va-va-voom!!! Gorgeous!

You can see the Brown Panema is the most complex of all three shades. Don't miss it!!

Dior 'Addict Vernis Croisette Collection' Ultra Gloss

Dior Addict Ultra Gloss formula is light on the lips, low on the sticky end of the spectrum. They feature hyrdolonic spheres and if you have heard about hydrolonic anything lately, you'll know that means extra moisture for a soft plumpy look. They retail for $28 wherever Dior is sold.

I will blog my lip pictures when I have them. Unfortunately, the ones I took were after I had Taco Bell Dorito Loco Tacos, lol...everything came out orange. hahahaha! Lip swatches soon! Isn't the Dorito Taco sheer genius???

Dior Le Croisette 5-Colour Aurora Eyeshadow Palette and Diorskin Healthy Glow Enhancing Powder Bronzer Sunlight Swatches, Pictures, Reviews

Dior Summer 2012 Aurora Eyeshadow Palette

Dior Aurora 5-Colour Eyeshadow Palette is not what I went to Nordstrom to purchase.  I thought I would come home with the Swimming Pool Palette.  Swatching each changed my mind!!  The competition wasn't even close!!  Aurora has the best pigmented orange I've ever had the pleasure to swatch.  All the colors in the Swimming Pool palette were very sheer and didn't need to be my friend.
The seashell embossed pattern on the outer four shades really shows off the shimmer beautifully.  I found this palette breathtaking and filled a gap I've been looking to fill for a really long time.

Dior Aurora Eyeshadow Palette swatches

In the past, when faced with a five piece eyeshadow unit by Dior, I was unsure how to combine the shades. Do you actually use all five? Now, included in the packaging is an insert describing the triad theory of these palettes. Use any three shades adjoining together for a perfect look...three horizontally, three diagonally or two across the side, top or bottom plus the middle shade. So easy!!!

I've been using this one lately with a concentration of the middle shade on the eye. I've used it wet on the lid to give that light springtime look, and hoping that it will actually show up on my camera. I need a better camera; this one always washes out my shadows.

So here's a look I did using the middle as a base, the brown in the crease and at the outer edge of the eye, and the orange at the browbone. I am just loving that pink!!! I wish you could see the glow from it and how perfect it is for spring/summer.

Lately, when I take a closeup shot of the eye makeup, the flash just fades it all out, so the pictures are disappointing, but it gives you an idea of the placement of the shadows.

Dior Aurora Eyeshadow

The brown is so seriously pretty, I'm tempted to call it one of the best browns ever. It's lovely in the crease. I bet it would be just as lovely as a brown smokey eye. I used just the faintest hint at the outer corner; a departure from my usual heavy outer corner look.

I also wore Diorskin Healthy Glow Enhancing Powder Bronzer in Sunlight, which I've been meaning to show you but just haven't had the time yet.  So this is a duo post.  Now the Diorskin Sunlight Powder has this big old long name but on the back, it's called Diorskin Nude Tan Sunlight.  Hmm. I don't know what to call this powder.

It comes in a brilliant rich feeling compact of embossed silver tone. There is a mirror in the lid.
Dior Sunlight Nude Tan Powder

In the box, you will find a kabuki brush in the same brilliant silver. My camera is red so the reflection makes it look a little pink. It has a lovely CD embossed on the top. This is a top quality Dior brush.
Dior Kabuki

The powder is comprised of four different colors; peach, tan, brown and bronze.
Dior Diorskin Healthy Glow Sunlight Bronzer

You can use the lighter colors for a highlight, the darker colors for a contour and swirled together for all over color. The swatch picture shows, from left to right, all the colors mixed together, the darker sections, and the lighter sections.
Dior Sunlight Powder swatches

I used all the shades of the bronzer in these photos. I concentrated the deeper shades at the hollow of the cheek and ran the peachier lighter shades at the top of the bone. It's probably somewhat hard to see the difference as I used a large brush, the Mac 187. Using a smaller brush would enable you to seperate the shades easier. I put this on heavier with no blush so that you could really get an idea of the color and sheen of the bronzer.

Dior Aurora and Diorskin Nude Tan Sunlight Bronzer

So there you go. An easy summertime look that says I'm waiting for summer!! I've got the makeup, I've got the sunscreen...all I need is the sunshine!!

Dior Bikini Nail Polish and Cover Band Sticks N Stones Swatches And Reviews

So last week, I was chomping at the bit for a couple of nail polishes. First, I was stalking the Dior counter waiting for the Summer Croisette Collection to come in. I finally got my grubby little mitts on the coral nail polish called Bikini. It's a nice medium depth coral that soothed my savage coral appetite. It has those special Dior tiny micro-shimmers that you don't really see with the naked eye, but add to the polish so that it doesn't look real flat.

Dior Bikini Nail Polish

I have a swatch wheel that compares it to a couple other corals I picked up for spring and summer. On the wheel, from the left, are Dior Bikini, Venique Brighten Your Day!, and Cult Nails Scandalous. The first two colors are two coats and Scandalous is three. You can see that Bikini is slightly dusty toned, while Brighten Your Day is a pink toned coral. Scandalous is a jelly, so it's hard to compare it.

Dior Bikini Venique Brighten Your Day Cult Nails Scandalous

If you haven't tried a Dior polish yet, what are you waiting for? I love the formula of the polish. The application is a DREAM and the brush is like a little cat's tongue, only far softer. The brush makes the application smooth and easy. With most Dior polishes, you could get away with one coat...they're just that good. I always use two cuz it's like some unwritten nail rule that I can't seem to break. I get very good wear with Dior and no chipping.

After about five days, I received Cover Band Sticks N Stones from Ninja Polish.  I'd been longing for this one, too, so when it came in, I just threw it over Bikini.  I loved it.  LOVED it!!  I've been a painter all my life, so this look reminds me of many times of pure artistic joy.

Dior Bikini Polish Cover Band Sticks N Stones

Sticks N Stones has an opacity that is rare to top coats. You don't have to layer it 100 times to get a good amount. I put just one coat and was good to go. Some of the white "sticks" can kind of stick out at the end of your nail or on the side, and all you have to do is just nip them for a flush feel. It seemed to be more of the white ones than the black.

Cover Band Sticks N Stones

Dior Bikini Cover Band Sticks N Stones

This was gobs of fun. Besides the "sticks" and the "stones", there are tiny glitter particles smattered here and there. Every so often, you just catch a hint of sparkle. Sticks N Stones can only be purchased on Ninja Polish and it retails for $9. It's not limited edition but it does sell out quickly.

Dior polishes are $23 and I purchased mine at Nordstrom. Most major department stores carry Dior as well as their own website.

(Links are provided for your ease of ordering. I have an affiliate relationship with Nordstrom. See my disclosure info for more details.)

I'm all into corals this has me wondering what color(s) you're rocking this spring. Is there a color scheme that is calling to you as strongly as coral is calling me? I'd love to hear what you're wearing.

New Beautiful L'oreal Infalliable 24 Hour Eye Shadow Colors!!! Pics and Swatches

L'Oreal has a new summer 2012 collection out that boldy proclaims "It's GOLD or Nothing At All!". The first item I purchased was a new color of Infalliable 24 hour eyeshadow called Gold Imperial. Along with a lipstick from the collection called Rose Agate, a shimmering nude color.

Gold Imperial blew my socks off! Literally!! There were holes in my socks and they just flew off. It is a yellow gold, light and FULL of little sparkles. I loved it so much, I went back for the other three in the display. These shadows rock!!! They're a new take on the Armani Eyes to Kill creme shadows at a fraction of the price. The suggested retail price for the Infalliable shadows is just $7.99 and I purchased mine at Walgreen's. There is also a dollar off coupon attached to the display.  Waaaahoooo!!!
Infalliable shadows are supposed to be able to be worn for 24 hours with no creasing. I don't plan to wear anything on the delicate eye area for 24 hours, but I can attest that they're waterproof and crease-proof. They are long wearing and really comfortable, not dry like some long wearing shadows can be.  Remniscent of their Chanel or Armani cousins, the Infalliable eyeshadows have an inner removeable lid.
Gold Imperial is just loaded with sparkle and looks like this when you remove the outer and inner lids:

I'll show you a couple pictures wearing Gold Imperial and Rose Agate lipstick and then I'll show you swatches of the others on the collection as well. In the close up picture, the camera washes out the sparkle, but you can see it better on the far eye. The only thing I wore on the eye besides the Gold Imperial Infalliable shadow was a brown Dior liner and mascara. With the sparkle and gleam coming from the shadow, you just really don't need anything else.

Loreal Infalliable Gold Imperial Eyeshadow

Loreal Infalliable Eyeshadow
There are four Infalliable 24 hour eyeshadows in the display. Three are new; one is an existing color. If you love these shadows, you'll be familiar with Golden Sage, and you'll be excited to see the Gold Imperial, Gleaming Bronze and Rose Sapphire as new editions.
Loreal Infalliable Eyeshadows
I have two photos of swatches for you. The first is in regular indoor lighting. From left to right, they are Gleaming Bronze, Golden Sage, Rose Sapphire and Gold Imperial. You can see that Gleaming Bronze is an antiqued slightly green tone of bronze.
Loreal Infalliable Eyeshadows
I tried to capture the swatches in a brief moment of waning early evening sun. Because of the complexity of the colors themselves, different aspects of them came out in the setting sun, and the sun shows the sparkles better than an indoor shot. They're all pretty cool, really.
There were also two bronzers, two lip glosses, and a few nail polishes in the display. I brought home Silver Sparkle nail polish. You've got to take a lookie. It's silver with multiple colors of glitter sparkle in it.
   Loreal Silver Sparkle Nail Polish
Loreal Silver Sparkle Nail Polish
There was a gold one with big golden sparkles in it. I passed on that one because I just mainly wanted the eyeshadows...well, and the lipstick and a gloss, but mainly the eyeshadows. :) I've had ZERO creasing with these or smearing, even during naps.
Have you tried the Infalliable eyeshadows? What do you think of them? Have you seen the new colors yet in your area?
(I have a blog post featuring the Silver Sparkle nail polish swatches at this location.)

Nars Summer 2012 Pics and Swatches: Liberte' Blush, Ramatuelle Eyeshadow Trio, Buenos Aires Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil

Today we have swatches, swatches, swatches of the Nars Summer 2012 Collection. I just love the advertising picture and was intrigued by the shadow, in particular, and how it glowed a light shimmering silvery blue and peach...I just had to see it in real life.
Isn't that gorgeous? I could picture being on a deserted tropical island somewhere when I look at that picture. Tropical islands are my happy place, so I relish any image that takes me there. Anyway, much staring at this photo and mentally going to my happy place prompted three purchases from the Nars website. I've looked at Nordstrom several times, hoping to see the items in person, but they still don't have them in at the counter where I live. But, when they get them, I'm checking out the matte lip product the model is wearing.  I just can't purchase a matte lip product without testing it first.
So, onto the show.... I suppose you would call the Ramatuelle eyeshadow trio the star of this collection. It features a light frosty blue, a frosted golden peach and a matte orange that has a hint of brick to it.
Nars Summer 2012 Ramatuelle Eyeshadow Trio
On my arm, the peach is quite golden. I suspect it will show up more peachy on my lids as my arms are warm toned and my lids are very cool.   While my skin swatches show warm colors, I suspect on my eyes, the colors will be true to the palette itself.  I'll be able to make = whichever color pop that I want to depending on what color of shadow base I use. I think this trio will be extremely versatile and fun to play with. I'll give you longevity stats as I wear it. (I just got it today so haven't worn it yet.)
Nars Summer 2012 Ramatuelle Eyeshadow Trio
Next, I did something a little unusual...I purchased the blush in the collection. It's unusual because with all the blushes I have, it seems like I should be able to make something work, and I probably can but I like how it looks in the ad. I am, after all, an  advertiser's dream. Liberte' blush is a brick orange. It'll be a good color applied lightly to my light skin and be great a little later in the summer when I have a little color. (Please, always use sunscreen!!!)
Nars Liberte' Blush
It'll be a no-brainer getting ready in the morning to use this with the Ramatuelle eyeshadow trio.

Nars Summer 2012 Collection
I ordered the Buenos Aires Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil thinking it would be a frosted beige that would work well with the eyeshadow trio. It was a little bit of a surprise to find out that it's a creamy peachy nude. Not at all what I thought,
. Nars Summer 2012 Buenos Aires Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil

Granted, I haven't tried it on the lips yet, but I'm afraid this won't quite be my color and I'm really wishing I ordered the Moscow Pure Matte Lipstick instead. Well, we'll give it a go and see how it is. I'll leave you with one more look at all the items that I purchased together.
Nars Liberte' blush Nars Ramatuelle Eyeshadow Trio Swatches
I plan to wear Dior Bikini nail polish this week with these items, but doesn't the light pink Trouville polish in the ad look so pretty??
(Nars Ramatuelle Eyeshadow Trio retails for $45.  Nars Liberte' blush is $28, and Buenos Aires Velvet Gloss Lip Pencil retails for $24 wherever Nars is sold.)
Have you tried the Nars Summer 2010 collection yet? If you have, what is your favorite item in it? And how do you feel the wear of these items is/are?
(Edited to add:  You can see the items in use in THIS blog post.   Buenos Aires pencil is reviewed in this post.).

Chanel Malice Blush Swatches and Review

It's that time of year again...time for new Chanel blushes!! I have purchased one so far, Chanel Malice, and have it for your viewing today. I chose this one, in part, because the display at my store wasn't reachable, so there was no playing with them and swatching at the counter. I felt Malice would be the one that was the most different from my other blushes. I have a bazillion pink blushes....because I love I imagine I'll be back to the counter soon to investigate the others; in the meantime, let's look at Chanel Malice.
Chanel Malice Blush

Malice is a beautiful coral color with golden microshimmer that adds shine, not glitter, to your cheeks. It applies smoothly, as do all Chanel blushes, with virtually no fallout. You can see, swatched on my arm, that the gold doesn't make an obvious statement but provides sheen. I desperately need sheen for my dry skin.
Chase Malice Blush Swatches

This first time I wore this blush, I applied it heavily with the brush it came with, in order for it to show well in pictures. The lighting is a little screwy, but this picture gives you the basic idea. You know in the Wizard of Oz where from behind the curtain, the Wizard says "pay no attention to the man behing the curtain"? Well, use that voice and hear me say "pay no attention to the terrible lack of concealor on the undereye area!"

The next time I wore it, I took some better photos. But I must warn you...I was letting my hair air-dry that day asmy shoulder isn't healed enough from injury and surgery to hold a blow dryer and my husband wasn't home to give me the princess treatment. It's scary hair, which is normally mildly curly and has had a Keratin smoothing treatment. Don't say you haven't been warned!!

In the last two photos, I used my Mac 168 blush brush to apply Malice. A regular blush brush is preferable to me than the one provided by Chanel, but it will do in a pinch. Malice says it's made in France, but it has the pressed US version that is powder free, rather than the powderous European baked versions. I prefer that; it's easier to apply. It will set you back a mere $43 USD and is available at Nordstrom, Chanel online and other major department stores.

(The rest of my face in the second set is Mac Mineralized SPF15 foundation NW20, TIGI Love Affair High Intensity Eyeshadow Quad <3, Dior Cherie Bow Addict Extreme Lipstick with a little Dior Glow Addict Ultra-Gloss).
(I have an affiliate relationship with Nordstrom.  Links are provided for your ease.  All items were purchased with my husband's hard earned cash.)
Have you checked out the new Chanel blushes yet?  What is your favorite check combination for this spring?
