JulieG Beauty Bohemian Nail Polish Collection Swatches and My Story

Beauty influencer and nail polish creator Julie G has created the Bohemian Collection of nail polishes to help ease us through the transition from summer to fall.  These colors are rich and can easily cover the nail in just one coat.  The polishes normally retail for $3.99 each and the set for $23.99.  The set of 6 is currently on sale on the website for just $9.99!!!!  I think they just blew my mind.

Jesse's Girl Cosmetics

In the above picture, the colors are, from left to right:  Aria, Karma, Eden, Faith, Henna and Harmony.  I was inspired by this collection of colors with the faux woodgrain handles.  The colors reminded me of my life in Alaska and the time I spent growing up in the woods.  Let me explain.

I wore Aria first.  It brought to mind the fireweed that grows in Alaska.  Legend has it that when the flowers bloom at the top, it's six weeks until winter.  The week I wore this polish, I was dying to ask friends at home if the fireweed was to the top yet.

Bohemian Collection

Karma.  The Alaskan flag song starts with "eight stars of gold on a field of blue..."  The week that I wore this polish, every time I saw my fingers, the state song played in my mind and I wondered if they still teach Alaskan heritage to the school children.  I sure hope so.  I thought about so many times I laid in the grass or snow at night and studied the sky with all it's mysteries.  I dreamt of being an astronaut and I knew, in my heart, that amidst the deep blue of the sky, the North Star would always guide me home.  "Eight stars of gold on a field of blue, Alaska's flag may it mean to you, the blue of the sea, the evening sky..."

Bohemian Collection

Blue is a predominant color in Alaska with the sky, the bodies of water, and the color of the mountains in the winter as they become topped with white snow.

I think Henna is my favorite, being a rich coffee brown.  My grandmother introduced me to coffee in our Alaskan kitchen.  It's a great memory.  There are a lot of trees in my homeland and the brown and woodgrain brings many choice moments to mind...such as going to see the Visitor's Log Cabin in Anchorage that my grandfather built on his homestead in the wilderness of what was yet to become the 49th state..

Bohemian Collection

Henna also brings to mind the moose that roam freely everywhere.  Downtown, in my former hood...they're everywhere.

Bohemian Collection

My second youtube video was made through my front window.  I'd like to thank this moose for running at the perfect speed.

The lavender of Harmony makes me think of the wintertime and how during the sunsets, the mountains glow with this unusual hue of purple.  The sun sets across from the mountains in Anchorage where I lived, but it reflects a beautiful lilac during it's transition.

One look at Eden and I see the grassy fields of summer where I played many sports.  I see the needles of the spruce trees, (the pine's lesser known cousin), that grow with abandon.

Bohemian Collection

It's beautiful there in the summer.  The mountains below are the same in the winter picture.  It is the Chugach Mountain Range in Anchorage and turn left right here and you arrive at my former house.

Here I am surrounded by the blue and green of Denali National Park when my grandfather taught me how to fly fish.

And rounding up the Bohemian Collection is Faith.  When I see the color of Faith, I am reminded of the huge flower baskets that they hang up on the streets downtown.  They're always vibrant and HUGE.  They're grown in local greenhouses and truly, it's amazing that they can be so large.  I have no pictures of them but let's look at Faith to round out the Bohemian Collection!

Overall, I'm impressed with the quality of this collection.  I was struck by how nail polish colors can spark a whole lifetime of memories in the wearing.  I was awed by how they transported me to my youth and some great memories of my home state.  I was almost overwhelmed by how much this collection touched me personally.  I feel like I need to personally thank Julie for making this collection, which seems to be an exact fit for me.

You can purchase JulieG nail polishes and Jesse's Girl Cosmetics at their website,, and Rite-Aid.  Don't overlook this brand.  They have some of my favorite nail polishes and lipglosses, too.  Be sure to keep up with them on social media as well thru Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest and now on Snapchat too.

Do you relate to this collection in some way, perhaps even similar to the way I do?  Do you see a favorite in this collection?

JulieG Nail Polish Spring Trio Special For Jesse's Girl Cosmetics PLUS a Giveaway!

If you've been reading me for awhile, you'll know that Julie G is a beauty influencer and youtube personality who became a nail polish designer for Jesse's Girl Cosmetics.  The JulieG nail polishes retail for $3.99 each which makes the spring special three packs an awesome deal at $10.00 for each set.  This special trio deal goes through 5-31-17.  All Jesse's Girl Cosmetics and JullieG nail polishes are cruelty free.  Let's take a look at the sets.

Set Number 1 contains the neon coral-pink color called Bikini.  It dries to a matte finish and can easily become shiny with JulieG's Jet Set Quick-Dry Top Coat.  This is an excellent top coat which dries quickly and has no shrinking!  It is best to use three light coats with this neon.  I applied this over a base coat, not over a white polish like people often do with neons.  I think the color comes across beautifully.  I did have a little trouble with it showing every nail flaw but I think a light fourth coat would have taken care of that issue.   These polishes, especially the neons, dry really quickly and it makes multiple coats a breeze rather than an all-nighter.

Tropical is a beautiful nearly neon turquoise cream.  The third color in the set is a beautiful light purple called Dream In Pretty.

Set Number 2 contains  three cream colors.  The first is Santorini, a medium sky blue.

Julie's Fave, a nice creamy orange, is pictured in the middle and  Rio de Janiero is a beautiful plum that leans a little fuchsia.

From this set, I have worn Santorini as a manicure.  It applied beautifully, was self-leveling, and made me happy to look at.  It's a really great blue for this time of year.

The third Spring Set also contains beautiful colors; two neons and a bright blue.

Fierce & Fab is a bright neon purple.  It dries matte and has no application trouble at all.  The same is true with the neon hot pink Om Em Gee.  The gorgeous blue on the end is called Cabana Boy.  Here are the swatches:

These sets are on the special Spring event until May 31, 2017. You can purchase JulieG nail polishes and Jesse's Girl Cosmetics at their website,, and Rite-Aid.  Don't overlook this brand.  They have some of my favorite nail polishes and lipglosses, too.  Be sure to keep up with them on social media thru Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Instagram, Pintrest and now on Snapchat as well.

And now for the giveaway!!!! Four winners determined at random through the rafflecopter widget will win a three pack of their choice from these three cool sets. The giveaway is hosted by Jesse's Girl Cosmetics and runs April 27 through May 4, 2017. Good luck!!!

Jesse's Girl Cosmetics, Julie G, and Fun At Their Cosmoprof 2012 Booth

Several previous blog posts alluded to the great time I had visiting the Jesse's Girl Cosmetics booth at Cosmoprof 2012.  I told you about our blogger friends getting makeovers by makeup artist Rebecca Rachael and the brush sleeve she created but I haven't yet told you about the booth and everything I learned there.

First of all, I met Jesse, who is hilarious.  He was obviously having a great time at the show.  His company has all kinds of cosmetics as well as nail polish.

Jesse has something really special he's putting out this year and he wanted us to know all about it, so he introduced us to YouTube guru Julie G. Behind Julie G, you see a pink arrow which points to Jesse's head. Two celebrity sightings in one!

Julie told us her cosmetic and youTube history, which is really pretty impressive. There she was, minding her own business making her cosmetic videos, and one day, Jesse contacted her asking her to collaborate on a nail polish collection. Can you imagine sitting behind your computer screen and a company asks you to help them design a collection? Wow. And thus, the collection Julie G was born.

27 colors are currently being introduced at RiteAid with an additional 27 by the end of the year. They will retail for $3.99. Check out this awesome polish rack created for her's so cool!

I took the next photo as Julie showed us a few of her polishes. In the background is her cellphone case which was sent to her by a fan. It's fun, peppy, sparkly and full of personality, just like Julie herself. Meeting her was really fun.

We were sent home with a few things to try from the line. I want to show you this neutral eyeshadow palette. It goes from shimmering yellow to satiny taupe with some harmonizing colors in between.

In flash photography, the yellow on the left is blinded and doesn't show well.

You can see it better without the flash.

And, of course, swatches!!!

This palette is available in several different color formations and retails for $3.99. It can be purchased online or in-store if you live in an area that Jesse's Girl Cosmetics are carried.  I've worn this a couple of times and the wear time was good. I had no problems with creasing or fading. The only problem was that my pictures didn't look as good as that cutie Julie G, so I leave you with a picture of her and her creations instead.

My gratitude goes to Jesse's Girl Cosmetics, Rebecca Rachael and Julie G. for their time. We had a blast.

(Sample palette was provided by the company.  All opinions expressed are my own honest evaluation.  See disclosure for more information.)
