When I first started wearing makeup beyond simply foundation and blush, I used to spend a lot of time at the Mac Counter learning application methods and exploring color options. As I went for lesson after lesson, I learned that applying a little powder to brows could finish a look. Like just about everyone who came before and after me, I said "why do I need anything on the brows, look how full they are". Back then, Mac Cork eyeshadow was the standard for brows. Fast forward to today and brows have a life of their own!! This is the age of insta-brows. A good brow can make your look and a bad brow can get you unfollowed on social media, Brows are everything now and require a product that stays put, applies well, isn't patchy and will order your favorite coffee for you.
Recently, I was offered Osmosis Brow Gel, (4gm / $25), to try. They have adorable and clever packaging. They make me think of the Keebler Elves little house. I don't know why but they do.
The packaging is simply brilliant. The top comes off the lid where you see the line in the middle. Inside is a tiny brow brush. It's the smallest brush I've every used, measuring at around 1/8" in width.
Flip the brush upside down and it fits perfectly on top of the lid, giving you a comfortable brush to hold to paint those tiny little brow hairs. This small brush enables you to precisely draw the brows that you want.
I received two colors; Brown and Taupe, pictured above at left and right. When I had surgery several months ago, it was difficult on my body and I lost most of my brow hairs. I started drawing in the tails at that time and found out two really important brow details. First, not all brow makeup will draw on skin that doesn't have hair and second, some brow products will migrate and melt on the skin.
Osmosis Brow Gel does neither of those nasty things. It fulfills my two brow requirements. I prefer a product to be easy to draw a brow with and my top priority is that I can put it where I want and it will stay. This gel doesn't melt in the Phoenix heat. I'm so thankful!!! I was using a couple of high end brow products prior to this that just ended up all over my brow bone but not where it should have been.
I've been using the brown to draw in my brow tail and general shape and I use the taupe to fill in. Sometimes I use all brown or all taupe. I can wear each color equally well as my brows are a mix of blonde, dark brown and a few white hairs. The members of my family each have their preferences for my brows, so I accomodate depending on who I'm with and how I want my overall look that day.
In the following picture, you'll see brown at the top and taupe at the bottom.
It seems that every time I review an Osmosis product, I tell you that it's fabulous and performs unlike anything else I've used in its particular category. I don't want to sound like I'm repeating a mantra, but honestly, this is the best brow gel I've ever used. Osmosis makes outstanding products, in my experience, and this brow gel is no exception. I can draw my brow tail down to my chin if I want and it won't move or smudge. It won't melt and looks great all day. It is water resistant and I seriously couldn't be more impressed with it.
I love the packaging. I love the tiny little precise brush that lets me achieve whatever look I want to on any given day. I find this easy to use and long lasting. And really, in a brow product, that's exactly what I need. You want to put a brow on and forget about it for the rest of the day. I've been excited to find my holy grail brow product!
Osmosis is a cruelty-free, Leaping Bunny certified company. The brow gel is gluten free and oncology friendly. I always suggest that you subscribe to their blog. I've learned SO much from receiving those emails in my inbox. You can also follow them on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram.
Do you have a favorite non-melting brow product? Can you believe brows are having such a makeup moment??
