6 Ways To Play Beautifully With Elf Cosmetics - Beauty Squad Report

I'm so proud to be a member of the e.l.f. Cosmetics Beauty Squad, bringing to you my unbiased opinion about the products.  e.l.f. stands for eyes.lips.face, and from here on, I'll be referring to it as Elf, just for ease of writing.   It is a cruelty-free company.  When I was chosen as a member, I discovered that my cousins are Elf-a-holics.  So we dished some about the products, why they've gone "all Elf all the time" and what their favorite products are.

Today I'm bringing to you an assortment of five products from Elf Cosmetics, with my honest review of them.

Elf shadow stick, lip balm, matte lip pencil, review, samples

I'm pretty excited about these items.  The quality of Elf is on par with Mac Cosmetics and most other upper end brands that you can think of.  These are now among my favorite items and I'll tell you why.

The Tantalizing Taupe eyeshadow quad, (.014 oz / $3.00), is just beautiful!!!  The kind of taupey browns that take your breath away.  And at just $3, it is a steal and there's not a lot of financial risk involved to check it out. I have two pictures of the quad; one outside and one with the sun shining right on it.  You can see the personality of the shades in the base color and then how the shimmers shine in the light.

So pretty!!  The shadows apply with ease and have great blendability.  I love brushes so I use those in my makeup application rather than the sponge brush which I used for the swatches.  The bottom shade is a matte and applies as smoothly as the shimmers.  These wear ALL DAY for me, without any creasing, flaking, drifting or fall-out.  I'm SO impressed with the quality of the shades.  The pigmentation is superb.

I can't get over how smooth and creamy the shadows are.  I've worn this palette more than any other that I have since I got it.  It will easily take you from day to nighttime, classic to smoky.  Seriously.  I mean, SERIOUSLY!!

This is an easy everyday look I did using the Tantalizing Taupe quad.  (Don't mind the messy curly hair.  I'm experimenting with this new cut.)

The next product I'd like to tell you about is the e.l.f. Perfect Finish HD Powder, ($6 / .028 oz).

There are a few things you should know as I review this powder.  I have tried most of the HD powders on the market.  HD stands for high definition and is a finer mill of product in order to translate well on television.  The other thing you should know is I have never found a powder I liked for my dry skin, and I've spent a lot of money searching.  So you can imagine I thought the powder would be a pass for me since I have years of non-powder experience.

I love this powder so much!  I really, really do.  It is a very finely milled lightweight powder.  It gives such a light and smooth finish that it makes me look more polished but without dry spots or "white powder hangover" anywhere.  This is huge to me.  The other powders I've used over the years always felt heavy and like they screamed "she's really dry" to me.  Get this powder.  Just get it!!  Used with a fat fluffy brush, this is something that I now use every day in my makeup routine.  I can't emphasize enough that this powder is so wonderful that I actually use it.  <<<<---- this from a former non-powder person.

The powder comes in a two part compact with a mirror and powder in the top side and a sponge applicator on the bottom.  It's complexion perfection.

Elf sent two lip products; a Studio Matte lip color in the color Wine, a lip balm stick and a shadow/liner duo pencil.

The Elf Studio Matte lip color in Wine, ($3), is a large size twist up lip color that never needs to be sharpened.  However, is does have a sharpener in the end if you want to use it as a liner.  It provides a pigmented long lasting color and is enriched with vitamins A, C, E, for hydration.  It lasts very well and is a nice merlot type of color; a red that is wearable any time of day.

In the picture above, you see the matte lipstick on the left and the Elf Lip Balm, ($3), on the right, in the color Pink.  This is such a great pink!!!  It gives a nice plump color and has SPF 15 to protect your lips from the sun's rays.  My lips burn really easily and most balms don't give enough color for me but this is one I can wear while running around outside and still feel pretty.

The third stick for review today is Elf Studio Eyeliner and Shadow Stick, ($3), in the color Black/Smoke.  It's also a wonderful item from Elf.  You have a soft gel liner on one side and a cream shadow on the other.  Both twist up and never need to be sharpened.  They have light reflecting pigments as you'll see in my swatches that reflect in a way to give fullness on the eye.  It creates interest as you easily craft a business-like or smoky eye.

I've worn this shadow/liner stick and it, too, lasted all day for me.  I regret that I don't have pictures for you.  I thought I did, but there's nothing on any of my cameras.  I had no creasing and found the gel liner easy to wing.  No creasing!!!  I do wear a concealer on the lids so I recommend some kind of primer, but this honestly just goes no where after you've applied it.

Swatches:

Do you see how with different lighting, at different angles, the properties of the shadow stick come out?  You won't have a dull one colored lid with these.  I just love, love, love the juicy look of the balm.  Isn't it such a pretty pink?!?!?!

Here again we have the shadow quad in use.  And, again, with the natural hair.  Another story all in itself, lol.

So here are some deets about Elf.  They have the best sales!!!  And regularly.  We're talking every week, so you HAVE to sign up to receive the emails from their website for notification.  They had a dollar sale a few weeks ago and I was able to get a ton of stuff, like eyeshadow quads!!, for just a dollar each!!!   They are also sold at Target in-store and online.  Elf has a ton of tools, BRUSHESSSSS, and new products coming out all the time.  I'm pretty excited for all the holiday stuff!

And, most exciting of all, they have started a subscription box called Play Beautifully.   There are a variety of different subscription plans so be sure to read about them and think about which exciting box of surprises you'd like to receive.  Really, go read about it!!!

Be sure to follow Elf on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest and Instagram.  And check out their hashtag #playbeautifully.

I'm going to leave you with my "sultry" face and ask you to share with me your favorite Elf products.
