This Winter Got Me All Walkin' In A Pixi Beauty Wonderland - Holiday 2016

You don't want to miss the Holiday 2016 offerings from Pixi Beauty.  I look forward to them every year and this year, they really knocked it out of the park, just like always.  If you've wished for a "one and done" palette, or the perfect on trend pigments, or perhaps that awesome classic red lipstick, this collection is for you.  Pixi Beauty is a cruelty-free company.
holiday, fairy dust, lipstick, eye pencil, face palette,
(A little FYI - my post got disrupted by a couple of twisting falls that would put any gymnast in great envy, I'm sure.  I may or may not need another surgery on my knee, may or may not be determined by next week, but whoa, everything had to go into slo-mo for a little bit...dr's orders.  I feel so dumb...but the Pixi collection is everything I'd hoped it to be and more and I wanted to tell you go hurry and find it!!)

The Pixi Holiday items always sell out so fast at the Target stores in my area...I'd be kind of embarrassed to tell you how many times, and how many times a day that I was going to search for these.  I was thrilled when they arrived at my door.  I'd been showing them off quite a bit on social media as I wore them non-stop to develop my opinion for you.  You may still be able to find them in your local Target, well, especially the ones that are regular stock.

First up is the Palette Rosette, or Rosy Radiance,  Face Palette, $28.  This palette contains 8 eye shades, three for brows, and three face colors.  The lid marks each with the suggested use, making this a perfect gift for any level of makeup artistry, from beginner to expert.

holiday, fairy dust, lipstick, eye pencil, face palette,

Take this with you to the gym or work and you can use this one palette to go from day to nighttime with ease.  I love that it comes with the three brow hues on the bottom.  You have a light, medium and dark, a blonde, a warm tone and a cool tone all within the three colors.  This allows you to perfectly match your brows.

Here are swatches of the brow tones:

I'm going to interrupt my swatches for a second.  Pixi had also sent me some items to be able to create a #FlawlessInFive face.  These go perfectly with my Palette Rosette looks.  You might have seen the following picture on Instagram.

holiday, fairy dust, lipstick, eye pencil, face palette,

From left to right are the Endless Silky Eye Pen in Graphite Greige, ($12), Endless Brow Gel Pen ($11) in Medium, black Lengthy Fiber Lash Mascara, ($16),  and the amazing Mattelustre Lipstick in Classic Red ($12).  I want to insert these items and show them in the swatches.  The eye and brow "pens" are pencils, so just use them with a sharpener to keep them fresh.  The Endless Silky Eye Pen is a non-budging liner pencil.  It's everything I've been looking for!!!  I have such a problem with one eye running from allergies and this is the only liner I've used since moving to Phoenix that doesn't budge.  Pixi sent over the Endless Eye Pen in the color Opal Overcoat to put that shine to the inner corner when wearing a fabu look.

holiday, fairy dust, lipstick, eye pencil, face palette,

The Endless Brow Gel Pen in medium is a perfect fit for me.  It wears very well.  It's really hard to find a medium brown tone that isn't warm.  Most medium brown pencils are too red for me, but this is a great match.  It applies with ease and doesn't skip.  I'm really happy with this one, and I love the separation and length I get from the mascara as well.  It's hard for me to believe that such top quality comes with such a low price!!

Classic Red is a MatteLustre formula.  When these came out last year, I tried one and then another and another...you know, like potato chips.  The price is SO good but the quality is even better.  They are a comfortable matte lipstick that wears a long time and doesn't feel dry.  An absolute steal for $12!!  I already had purchased Classic Red, so I'm quite familiar with it and how perfect it is for wear with these products.  It is pictured below with the Holiday Fairy Dust sampler.

And let's show some swatches:

holiday, fairy dust, lipstick, eye pencil, face palette,

It occurs to me know that maybe I should have labeled everything, but I think you can figure it out.  From the left, on the top row, are the three eye contours, the day/night lid shades, the highlights and Classic Red lipstick.

holiday, fairy dust, lipstick, eye pencil, face palette,

The bottom row, from left to right, are the three brow colors, the Enhancing Contour, Cheek Blush and All-Over Glow.  Next is the Opal and Greige Endless Silky Eye Pens, followed by the medium brown Brow pen.  Add the mascara and you have a variety of endless sophisticated looks to take you from home to office to nightlife.

But then there are the Fairy Dusts!!  These are amazing pigments that can be used for eye shadow, wet as liner or foiled, or for a sheen of color to pop your look.  Use them on the lid or as a highlight anywhere.  I thought I had taken a million pictures of the look I did with them for my anniversary, but umm...it all went on Snapchat.  And I haven't taken others, well you know cuz I thought I had a bunch, but I'll do a subsequent post showing a look with these items.

The Fairy Dust Favorites in this years stack are Sheer Peach Glow, True Bronze, Ruby Sheen, Sunkissed Amber and Black Pearl.  I love how they're stacked in a plastic container that you can take anywhere.  You should know that I never have fallout with these!!  Ever.  And spray a little makeup setting spray on some pigment on your brush and you have a brilliant foiled color for liner or lid, or pop in the middle of your lip for extra highlight.

The first four pigments are high shimmer while the black is sparsly shimmered, as most people would prefer for liner.

I have swatches in full sun.

These colors are beautiful, long wearing, non-creasing, have no fallout, and completely on trend.  You can purchase full sized Fairy Dust pigments for just $10.  They're amazing.

Now you know all the reasons I was flipping my lid all over social media about these Pixi items.  They're so pretty!  They perform so well!!  And Pixi just got me all...

You can find Pixi Beauty online and in stores at Target or online on Pixi's own website.  They have free shipping at just $25!!!  That's awesome.  Be sure to follow their social media on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest and Instagram.   Pixi is a cruelty-free company.  I'll be covering some Pixi skincare items in the near future, and you won't want to miss that.

What are your favorite Pixi items?  Are you fortunate enough to be able to shop at a Pixi Boutique or do you purchase at Target?

New Pixi Spring 2015 Makeup, Skincare and Amethyst Amore Nail Polish Review and Swatches

Glow Mist, Amethyst Amore, Olive Gold, Silver Glow, Lucent Glow

My spring started off with a pop and a hippity-hop in my step when I received the Spring 2015 cosmetics box from Pixi Beauty. It had some great new items that I just couldn't wait to try!!!  This is a really exciting box and even contained candy!!!  It was quite the traveler, too.  It went to my former residence 2500 miles away before it found its way to my new house.  I'm so glad it did.

I don't want to bore you with all the health drama of my family, but it has been quite the couple of months, with no real end in sight.  I had a month long pneumonia caused by cigarette smoke exposure, (my 3rd in a year and a half!!), and tried to keep on top of things with my husband and child at the same time.  It's been overwhelming and most of the time I've been exhausted.  I have a new batch of allergies that have come with my new location, unfortunately, and am trying to get a handle on those.   I'm not making rapid headway and it's held my blog progress back.  BUT...I'm sick of being sick and laying around and I just want to get started telling you about all these things I've discovered lately!!  So...onto the show...

Pixi Beauty Glow Mist, ($15), is a great addition to the line.  It contains 13 different oils in addition to propolis, aloe vera and fruit extracts.!!  It is literally loaded with great things.  And it has a clean fresh scent which I really like while absorbing quickly.  I have really dry skin so this works very well for me.  Use it before makeup to hydrate, protect and nourish your skin.  Use it after makeup to set it and provide a natural glow while protecting your skin and makeup application.  Use it anytime to feel refreshed or to add a glow.  The bottle is travel sized at under 3 fl ounces so take it on an airplace with you to remain hydrated and look fresh when you touch down.  Be sure to shake this a little before using to mix all the oils.

Pixi swatches, lip, nails, eyeshadow, skincare

The two space age looking items on the left of the above picture are Pixi Fairy Dusts in the colors Silver Glow and Golden Olive, ($10).  They are a loose powder color that can be used in any way you can imagine.  You can use them as eye shadow or mix them with various other colors for use on the cheeks, lips or body.  Mix a little with moisturizer to create a light glow.

The Fairy Dusts have a super cool applicator.  It picks up just the right amount for eyes and is easy to use to apply them.  If you want, you can use a brush or fingers as well.  Below is a picture of Silver Glow.  The addition of an applicator is fantastic for makeup-messaphobes like me.  I don't like when my makeup gets messy and this applicator is great to control my pigment dust fear.  :)  If you love pigments, you are going to be estatic over the smooth application of the Fairy Dusts!!!

I purchased the holiday Fairy Dust stacker this winter and if you're at all like me, you might wonder if the Golden Olive is similar to the holiday set.  You'll see below that while it is close, it's really not the same.  Hallelujah, no repeats!!!!

The fairy dust that is second from the bottom in the holiday set is the closest to Golden Olive.  However, Golden Olive has a golden tone to it where the other is more of a straight up taupe.

Golden Olive Fairy Dust is descibed as a vintage gilded moss shimmer.
Silver Glow is a satin silver with a lavender gold sheen.

I have swatched both next to the Tinted Brilliance Balm, ($14),  in the new spring 2015 color Lucent Glow, which is described as a luminous rose gold shimmer in a translucent base.  You can see in the swatch on the right that is is a glow with some pink and gold to it.  This is my fourth or fifth Tinted Brilliance Balm and I just adore these.  The Lucent Glow doesn't give much color on the lips, but I think it's my favorite.  I could swear it plumps my lips!!  The look fuller and just spectacular while remaining hydrated.  It's really great for a drop of sexy over any other lip item or for fantastic lush lips when used alone.

Silver Glow, Golden Olive, swatches, pink

With my arm at a slightly different angle below, you can see that you'll mostly see the wet glow with hints of the gold and pink.

swatches, Silver Glow, Golden Olive, pink

The final item I'm going to show you today is Pixi's nail color for February 2015, Amethyst Amore, ($8).

swatches, review

Amethyst Amore draws it's name from the birthstone of February.  This nail color, however, has more of a blue than a true amethyst stone.  It's nearly a blurble in most lights, while being definitely blue with a lot of purple tone to it.  The color of the month nail polishes are only found online at Pixi Beauty's website.

This is a great spring color for me!!  Check it out....it works so well with my favorite shorts!!

And behind my hand in the next picture is my favorite beach towel.

How great does it look by the pool?

Spring 2015

Like your most comfortable jeans, Amethyst Amore goes with literally anything!!!  It's great on fingers or toes.  It's bright and cheery and will pull you from the dreariness of winter and hopping on into the promise of spring.  Go get one now!  You need it.

AND......by the way....this is a ONE COAT WONDER.  Few and far between are nail polishes that are complete with just one coat.  And when I find one, I always use two coats anyway because I am just a two-coater kind of girl.  HOWEVER, for the first time ever, folks, FIRST TIME, I used just one coat of Amethyst Amore in the manicure you see and was totally satisfied with it.

ONE COAT!!!!!!!!!!!!

AND....drum roll, please....this polish absolutely DOES NOT STAIN!!!!!! Perfection!!

You can find Pixi products on their own website, in Target stores and on Target online.  Not all special edition Pixi products will be available at Target but many are.

I just love Pixi's products.  I feel so honored to be able to review for them.  Why?  Great quality!!  Fun products and I just feel like a Princess when I  am able to say that I'm wearing Pixi.  Don't you??

What kind of spring items and activities are you looking forward to this year?

Get Ready For The Oscars With Beauty Essentials From Target

We've seen the Golden Globes. We just watched the SAG Awards. Next week is the Director's Guild Awards, and then we finally arrive at the Academy Awards. The Oscars are the trifecta of high fashion, where couture, hair and makeup all come together. Sometimes it's as exciting to see what the stars are wearing as it is to see who wins.

With such a tight race for the category of Best Picture this year, I suspect the race for fashion awards will be just as thrilling.  Many blogs will have a breakdown of the makeup and hair that you can easily copy with some suggestions from Target.  While stars like SAG winners Jennifer Lawrence and Anne Hathaway have a team of stylists and makeup artists to create their red carpet looks, Target offers products from NP Set, Pixi, Umberto, Mixed Chicks and more to easily create a complete glam look from head to toe – all for under $30!

adiant skin: 1. Pixi All-Over-Magic, Bare Radiance ($24.00), 2. Pixi Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer ($30.00), 3. NP Set Wake Me Up Day Cream ($29.00), 4. NP Set Pre-Foundation Bronzing Primer ($29.00)

Flawless face: 5. Pixi Large Lash Mascara ($18.00), 6. NP Set Lip Balm with Benefits, Baja ($10.00), 7. Pixi Lash Line Ink ($16.00), 8. Gorgeous-to-Go Palette ($29.00)

Movie star hair: 9. Umberto Beverly Hills Shimmer Shine Spray ($8.99), 10. Goody Doublewear Headwrap, Pearl and Tulle ($9.99), 11. Kinky Curly Spiral Spritz ($11.99), 12. Mixed Chicks Deep Conditioner ($13.99)

These are great suggestions.  Wouldn't it be fun to have a viewing party for the Oscars and dress all fancy, with a do and winged liner?  You can do your hair and makeup with these affordable suggestions from Target.

Let's Talk Turkey About Black Friday and Cyber Monday

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. It's a peaceful time of love and family where we can relax and enjoy each other and be thankful for having each other in our lives. I love that feeling more than anything.

But THIS YEAR....(and this is not to minimize the warmth of the holiday, I just have a different post in mind today)....we are going to go play Black Friday!!! And boy are there a lot of things to consider!

Wal Mart will be open all day, but that's boring. Give me a line of people all cheery and laughing about how stupid we are while sipping a hot mocha over stores open all day anytime!!! We're starting at Target at 9 pm. While some run to the electronics section, I'm stopping into the cosmetics aisle as I've been lured by some beautiful pictures of intrigue.

Pixi has some interesting holiday offerings.  The first kit runs $34 USD.  I haven't used their eyeshadows or blushes yet, but I imagine they're good.  The things I have used from the line are nice so I really want to look at this.

I LOVE Pixi nail polish.  They usually retail for $9-10 each so three polishes for $12 is a great deal and these look awesome to me.

The Lid Last Shadow Pen Duo retails for $12.  I have the pen on the left and it makes an awesome shadow base or is great alone with a liner.  Love it!!
Burt's Bees...who doesn't love Burt's Bees?  This year there are some great holiday sets to consider.  The Burt's Bees Favorites set is just $19.99

And look at this block of nail polish from Elf.  Dying to try this.  It's only $10!!

Elf also has two large eyeshadow palettes containing all the palettes you could possibly want.  I haven't tried their shadows yet, have you?  The palettes are just $15 each!

Awesome, right?  Right.  After Target, I'd like to head to Ulta.  They have a two page doorbuster flyer online right now but they haven't released all their in store specials yet, so I'll amuse myself in the meantime by shopping online.  There is a plethora of online deals to choose from!!!

Beginning this morning, Inglot Cosmetics has a 20% off sale.  I'll be shopping there.

If you look at the Affiliate ads on my sidebar, (they go live on Friday), you'll see that Nordstrom is having a buy 2, get one polish free special for Black Friday.  They have other cosmetics specials as well, so once Friday hits, click thru my ad, if you don't mind, and it will help sustain my website as you shop.  You'll find all kinds of deals.  Cyber Monday brings many more and on Monday, I'll have new ads.  Order online Monday and receive 10 pts per dollar on your Nordstrom Rewards card.  Counting down the hours....

Billion Dollar Brows, a brand I'll be reviewing for you soon, has a special this Black Friday, of 70% off their 3 Steps To Beautiful Brows Kit.  It retails for $85 and you can purchase it for $25.50 with the code BDBBLACKFRI.  This code is good from 11/22/12 to 11/26/12 11:59 PST.  I have this kit.  It's really nice.  It contains a brow pencil, brow gel and brow serum.

After I have some turkey tomorrow, I'll come back with more special savings.  That way, the special banners will be active, or closer to it, and the post won't be so long you can't stand it.  :)

What are your Thanksgiving plans and do you have any Black Friday madness in store, or how about Cyber Monday?

Tricks And Treats Aren't Just For Kids This Halloween!!!

How about some Beauty Tricks and Treats for the big kids this year? That's just what Target has in mind for their cosmetic shoppers. I have to share this press release with you. It's cute and what a great idea. I'd love to trick or treat thru the neighborhood and get a big ol' bag of cosmetics, lol!!! Please put out a sign on your door if you have cosmetics instead of candy. Ha!! You gotta check this out.

Tricks and treats aren’t just for kids this Halloween. Whether disguising a problem area or playing up a feature, Target design partners Jemma Kidd, Napoleon Perdis, Petra Strand and Umberto Savone have plenty of beauty tricks up their sleeves. Their afforable, multi-tasking beauty treats are packed with beneficial ingredients to help women achieve an updated, glamorous look. Please see below for a selection of their latest and greatest fall essentials – all under $25 exclusively at Target.

JK Jemma Kidd Instant Lift Skin Perfecting Primer ($24)

· Trick: Taking a minute in the morning to apply primer before makeup helps to lock it in place, which cuts down the time it takes to reapply and touch-up throughout the day.
· Treat: Flash Tensing Agent in this formula diminshes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by hydrating and firming skin. Lavender essential oils and anti-oxidant alpine plant extracts smooth and calm the skin, while vitamin B3 restores collagen and reduces redness.

NP Set Lip Balm With Benefits ($10 each) available in Baja (cherry) and Capri (coral)

· Trick: Adding a splash of color and shine to lips is an easy way to achieve a refreshed, more youthful appearance.
· Treat: Vitamins A, C and E and shea butter are packed in this travel-friendly pot to moisturize and plump dry, chapped lips.

Pixi Natural Brow Duo ($18)

· Trick: Shapely, fuller brows are not only on-trend, but help give a more youthful appearance, making eyes pop.
· Treat: This dual-ended tool includes a waterproof brow-powder pencil with an angled tip on one end. The other end houses a tinted soft-hold gel infused with vitamin B5 to keep unruly brows in place.

Umberto Beverly Hills Repair Treatment Masque ($9.99)

· Trick: For ultra soft hair, using an intense deep conditioning treatment is key. After applying the Repair Treatment Masque, heat a damp cotton towel in the microwave for 20 seconds and wrap around hair for 20 minutes. The moist heat opens the hair’s cuticle to seal in moisture.
· Treat: This mask is rich in marine derived amino acids and botanical proteins help to repair and seal split ends. Special co-polymers promote hair growth, plump the shaft and improved moisture retention.

Isn't that fun????  It makes me want to get my shopping cart and trick or treat for myself at Target!!!  How about you?  What are your Halloween plans?
