New! Wet N Wild Beauty Midnight Mermaid Collection

Dude!!  Walking through Walgreens, not really minding my own business, taking a quick route through the makeup aisle to the refrigerators on the other side of the store, I spied the new Wet N Wild Collection.  I was like whoa, and dude, and whoa!  I hadn't seen any reviews yet, so how could I decide which to get?  The result of anguishing over my decision is that I have swatches and a mini-review for you here today to assist you in your shopping choices.  I just bought it today so I've only had a chance to wear the highlighter and hope to have a full review in the future.

The collection contains:
3 metallic liquid eye liners, $3.99 ea
4 Catsuit metalllic liquid lipsticks, $4.99 ea
4 Color Icon metallic liquid eyeshadows, $4.99 ea
1 spectacular mermaid tail imprinted Mermaid highlighting bar in Mermaid Moon, $6.99
The whole collection at Walgreens costs $56.88 before tax.  There is a bit of a savings if you buy the full box for $35.99 on Wet N Wild Beauty.  I chose to purchase it on site in Walgreens where I receive points that accrue to cash back and not have to pay shipping.  That being said, with the cash back that I made from my points, it was virtually the same as ordering the box online from Wnw dot com.

Onto the swatch show:

The liquid liners come in a Trident's Shimmer, steely metallic grey...Sea Dreams, metallic navy and Sea Symmetry, metallic royal green.

The metallic liquid eyeshadows are kind of fascinating.  Lara's Necklace is a metallic green  color with a black base.  Aquatic Prism is a shimmering blue with a black base.  These two have metallic micro-glitter particles.   Looking at the colors, I anticipate that they will need to be eased onto the eye over the top of a shadow just like the Stila glitters.

The third color looks nearly olive in the tube but it is a shimmering grey with silver micro glitters and a black base.  It's name is Mysterious Nights.  The fourth color is Moonlight Majesty, a shimmering plum with a black base.

I swatched them as such:  top to bottom, Mysterious Nights, Moonlight Majesty, Aquatic Prism and Lara's Necklace.  The shadows have a nice duochrome look to them with the metallic on top of the black base.   As the light changes with the curvature of the lid, it lends to a natural halo type of effect.  In other words, you probably won't have to add a darker shade at the outer V because the formulation of this product will do the work for you.

The four Catsuit metallic liquid lipsticks are:  Siren's Jewel, metallic royal green, Sea Seduction metallic navy.  Harbor A Crush is a metallic plum and Coral Crown is a metallic burnished bronze.

When I swatched these, the green and the blue applied with perfection.  In order to get the same vibrant color, I had to double swatch the plum and the bronze, but again, I haven't worn them yet and if I know Liquid Catsuits, it won't be any problem whatsoever.

Here are the corresponding colors in the tube, just for curiousity's sake.

The comparison of the blues is very interesting.  The navy lip makes the blue eye look green in the tube in a picture.  To the naked eye, the blue shadow looks more aqua with a purpley duochrome especially next to the navy lip.

Onto the star of the show, the  Midnight Moon Mermaid Highlighting Bar.  I do believe this could be the stunning finish to any mermaid out there!

This is a fascinating highlighter!!!  I wasn't sure what to think when I opened it and looked at it.  It has a beautifully sculpted mermaid fin, that I was sure of.  But the color was so different.  In swatching this, I found it is definitely different than anything else I own.  It is a gold color with a faint hint of green undertone and some imperceptable pink micro-sparkles.  It melds together to give a beautiful glow that just pops on the cheekbones.   This is really a spectacular multi-dimensional highlighter that has to be worn to be believed.  It is not the typical warm orangey or peachy gold that is so prevalent on the market right now.

Let me know whatever questions you might have and I'll answer them in the future as I wear the products to see how they wear.  I like color so I can envision wearing a lot of these....but not at the same time!!  You can purchase Wet N Wild Beauty in most drugstores and on their website.  Follow them on Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, Facebook, and Youtube.

A Boy, A Girl, And A Life With Cystic Fibrosis

This post was sponsored by Walgreens Cystic Fibrosis Services as part of an Influencer Activation for Influence Central. I received compensation as a thank you for my post.

It was a beautiful summer night.  Two weeks before, I had just began to date a young police officer that I had been introduced to at a local restaurant where I was working for the summer.  We both worked night shifts and usually met up after work to play tennis, basketball or soccer as we were getting to know each other.  I'm sure you've heard about the nearly 24 hours of daylight in an Alaskan summer.  It helps young people to have no good sense about being loud outside in the middle of the night.  My belated apologies to the neighbors!!

This night felt different.  As my cousin was dropping me off to his house after work, I told her that I knew I was in love with him, and that I might tell him.  She said it wasn't possible, that it had only been two weeks and I should wait to say anything.  But this was different and I knew it.  I knew that I was in hook, line and sinker and there was no turning back.  I was young and I was in love!  Surely there's a song about that, right?

As we were talking, he said I have something to tell you.  Imagine my butterflies when I said "I have something to tell you, too".  It was so exciting!!!!

Until he said "I have a terminal illness and I thought I should tell you"  Umm, excuse me???  What?  My stomach felt like a horse had kicked me in the gut.  It physically hurt as I tried to understand what he was telling me.  It was such a shock that I couldn't process it.  I asked what he meant.  And he said "I have Cystic Fibrosis."

It was the first time I'd heard those words and I didn't know what they meant.  Many times, the diagnosis of CF is the first time a person and their family have heard of it.  Cystic Fibrosis is a complex disease which mainly focuses on the lungs and digestive system.  It is caused by gene mutations and is something that the patient has their entire life.  It must be managed every day.  With CF, there is no such thing as a common cold.  Such a simple virus to others can cause a very serious pneumonia or worse.  My boyfriend was just 26 when I met him and a few years before, he was told that he wouldn't live to see 30.

I had to make a choice.  Would I choose to live with CF in my life or would I choose to live without it.  I already told you that I was head over heels for him, so I took the path of living with Cystic Fibrosis.  I knew immediately that I wanted to spend any time he had with him rather than miss it all together.

Thanks to research and progress in medicines, he has already doubled the life sentance he was given as a young adult.  He was told that CF was a terminal childhood illness and through the years of our marriage, we have seen incredible genetic discoveries and the great progression of medicines and therapies to treat the condition.

Here he is at 60.  How is he still not grey?

CF is still very serious and a strict adherence to the medications to treat various aspects of it is mandatory, and sometimes can be overwhelming.  We've had hospital stays, IV at home treatments, physical therapies...you name it, he's gone through it.  I help him to remember to take the medications and I nag encourage him to do the therapies.  If you are a care giver to a CF patient, remember that the end result is worth any arguing they might do about doing any of their therapies.  I have a hard headed husband but I want him to stay alive so I help to get his medicines and therapies arranged.

He has a medication that he takes for 28 days and then takes a 28 day break and starts again.  Sometimes it has been difficult to remember when to start.  I'm extremely thankful for the Walgreens CF Champions, Navigating the Journey together program.    20 years ago, we had a difficult time obtaining his medicine.  It's called Tobramiacine or Tobi and we've been through insurance denials and inability to physically be able to purchase anywhere when we were in Alaska.

The Walgreens program is fantastic.  Every month at just the right time, they call to ask if we're ready for the next delivery of the medicine.  They tell us what day and what time it will arrive.  They are never late, always on time.  We know when to make sure we're home to sign for the delivery.  The medicine comes in a styrefoam cooler with cold packs ensuring it stays cold and dark until use.  It's very important that he has it on time and Walgreens pharmacy CF program makes it happen.  It helps relieve some of the stress of counting out the 28 days and being afraid I might miscount.

Even though he lives with Cystic Fibrosis, my husband is a determined man.  He wanted to be a police officer when he was young and he determined to do so even though he had recently been told his life would be short.  He was determined to survive when he was shot as a young officer.  He was determined to be a SWAT cop and solve difficult homicide cases.

My husband was determined to experience all the other areas of the department.   He was determined to make our department a better place.   He was determined to improve his abilities and rose to the rank of Deputy Chief over a department of about 500 people.  He was always known as a hard working, determined officer.  Here he is as a Captain of Patrol.

Even with CF, he has been determined to survive and take care of our family.  He worked almost 40 years as a cop and is now taking on the next task of retirement.  If you have CF, I want you to know that you can still make your dreams come true.  You can accomplish the things you want to, you just have to be determined.  Be determined to adhere to the modalities your doctor has prescribed and then just go for it.  If you are the parent of a child with CF, just know that my husband is proof that your child can do anything.  If you are the spouse of a CF patient, then high five, cuz you know my journey.

Last picture.....this is a picture of him being honored for the shooting when he was young and his determination to survive along side of a picture from the summer we met and started dating.  *butterflies*

That's my superhero.  A superhero living with Cystic Fibrosis.

Disney Cinderella London Soho New York Cosmetic Bags and Orly Nail Polish Only At Walgreens.

Disney and Walgreens have collaborated for a large Cinderella collection just in time for holiday giving!!  I find it totally exciting.  I love Cinderella.  Be be sure to check out all the makeup offerings in my other Cinderella blog post.  This post is all about the cosmetic organizers and nail polish.

First let's talk about the makeup bags.  I LOVE these London Soho New York bags.  I've been collecting all the Disney variations from the beginning with the Snow White collection.  I love them so much and use them every day.  You may have seen my bag from the Disney Villans collection.  It holds my complexion gear...from primer to foundation to contour.  It's all in there.

I received a super cute wristlet bag from the collection.  I'm going to use this one to hold my mascaras.  They're in about four different drawers right now.  It will be nice to have them all together.

The wristlet measures 8 in x .5 in x 5 in and has a silver strap.  It pictures Cinderella rushing to make her escape before her carriage turns to a pumpkin.  If you look closely, you can see that she's lost her glass slipper!!!

Run Cinderelly!!!!  Hurry!!!  The inside of the bag is as cute as the outside with the sillhouette of glass slippers and carriages.

These are adorable bags and highly collectible.  I confess, I have to go to Walgreens to get a couple more.  They are so handy!!!  I use them for everything and they always bring a smile to my face when I think of all the good times Disney has brought me.

I've got to show you my pictures from the rest of the collection in the store.  I've found out there is another wristlet but I don't have a picture of it.  It's a smaller version with the same picture as the train case, pictured below.

I am absolutely dying to see the print on the inside of the train case, ($11.99).  Each bag is such a unique and beautiful work of art.  And seeing the design on the inside is like an extra surprise for me.  I just love good art work.

The train case is 8.75" x 4" x 7", the same size as previous bags.  I use my earlier collection train cases for travel as well as for everyday use.  They've held up well and I can pack a ton in them and put them in my carry-on.

There is a 2 piece clutch set with the inner bag being inside a see through bag.  I can't tell you how many see through bags I've bought to put different sets of lip colors in them.  It's the only way I can keep my makeup straight!!  The outer bag measures 9" x 2.25" x 7.25".  The set retails for $9.99.

The final cosmetic bag in the set is called an Organizer bag, ($9.99).  It is also a good size, measuring 8" x 3.75" x 5.25".  I really think all of these bags would be handy, especially if your vanity space is really limited like mine is.  I'm dying of curiousity to know what's on the inside of these bags!!!

You've seen the Cinderella makeup collection, in my other post, now it's time to show you what Orly Nails has presented to us in the Cinderella nail polish collection.  I think every color is spot on Cinderella.  I love this collection!!

I'll show you the full sized Orly Color Blast nail polishes first, and just for the sake of post length, I've combined them into one picture.  There are three duos available, as well as three singles.  They are all the same size but the top row just looks smaller due to fitting more colors in the frame.

There are two mini four packs as well.

It's a great collection with very few repeats between the full size Color Blast and the minis.  I've picked up two colors so far.  The blue Cinderelly, Cinderelly! that has pink shimmer, and the champagne bronzey Stroke of Midnight.

The duo nature of Cinderelly, Cinderelly just captures her ballgown perfectly.  I have dreams of swishing around a dance floor in my fancy dress when I look at this polish.  It is the quintessential Cinderella color.  Thank you, Orly....I mean, Fairy Godmother!!!

That pink glow!!!!  I've been wearing this all week, without any chips.  It's held up as well as any Orly I've worn ever has.  I personally get outstanding wear with Orly.  Always.  The set of two full sized polishes retail for $10.99, and the mini 4-packs are $12.99.  I think I paid $6.99 each for the full sized.  I'll have to get back to you on that.

I think these items round out the Cinderella collection for Walgreens very well!  You can purchase the makeup bags online at Walgreens or in the store.   The Orly Cinderella Color Blast nail polishes are only available at your local Walgreens store.

Check out the Cinderella makeup collection and tell me what you think would be your favorite item between the three parts of the collection.  Let's have a little more FUN......how many of the previous Disney Walgreens collaborations can you name?

Don't Miss The Cinderella Makeup, Nail Polish and Beauty Bag Collection At Walgreens.

This holiday season for all princesses young and not-so-young.  The Cinderella beauty collection has some excellent gifting items at Walgreens.  Who doesn't love Cinderella!?!?!  Everytime I think about this collection, my mind starts singing "a dream is a wish your heart makes..."  The entire collection is super cute!!  The makeup, the Orly nail polish and the London Soho New York cosmetic bags are outstanding!!  Well, let me show you what Disney has instore for the holiday season with the Cinderella collection.  You may have seen me post a few of these pictures already on Instagram.

This post covers the makeup collection and you will be able to view the London Soho New York makeup bags and Orly nail polish collection at this blog post.

The largest piece in the Disney Cinderella makeup collection is an item that we haven't seen in any of the previous princess or villan collections.  It is a large eyeshadow palette called Ready For The Ball, ($14.99).  It contains 35 eyeshadows.  I've seen some excellent swatches on the web.  I did buy it, but haven't had the chance to swatch it for myself yet.

To keep those eyeshadows in place, there is a tube of Past Midnight Eyeshadow Primer, ($2.99).  I haven't had the chance to open it to see the color yet but will add it in when I do.  And instagram it for you.

If you've shopped the Disney Walgreens collaborations before, you might expect there to be a Beauty Book and there is. It is also called Ready For The Ball, ($9.99).  It contains 9 eyeshadows, 2 blushes, an eyeshadow brush that is simply charming, (lol), an eyeliner and a lipgloss tube.  That first row of shadows just grabbed me by the collar and the brush sold me!!

On the inside of the beauty book, there is a faux mirror telling Cinderella to be sure to get home by midnight.

There is also a three piece Crown Jewels liquid eyeliner set, ($4.99), to complete your eye look.

In my opinion, one of the stars of the collection is the A Dream Come True All-In-One Highlighter.  It's just like the clock waiting to strike 12, and even comes with a brush.   It's a steal at just $4.99, and it's pretty big.  I'm not sure yet how it will work for shadow, but I've seen swatches of it and it's sooooo pretty.  Like Cinderella!

One simply must have a princessy lipstick, right?  I apologize for the picture quality.  They're hard to photograph in the container.  ($2.99)  I didn't make the mush spot, by the way, and purchased the rose for my holiday princess looks.

eyeshadow, blush, lipstick, lipgloss, eyeliner, highlighter, bronzer

The collection contains this set of three lipglosses called The Gloss Slipper, ($3.99).

Finish your Cinderella look with Fairy Glow Face and Body Illuminator, ($2.99).  We princesses are all about that glow!!

eyeshadow, blush, lipstick, lipgloss, eyeliner, highlighter, bronzer

How will you apply all this pretty makeup?  Well, with the Cinderella brush collection, of course!  Could it possibly be anymore princess-y?

eyeshadow, blush, lipstick, lipgloss, eyeliner, highlighter, bronzer

You might also like to use the Cinderella cotton swabs.  Only $1.99 and super cute!  Keep the container and use it for those hair bands and bobby pins that always stray.

When Cinderella got home, I'm sure she wanted to erase all signs she went to the ball so her sinister evil step-mother wouldn't find out.  And I'm sure she probably reached for the Disney Cinderella Wish It Away makeup remover wipes, (25 ea/$2.99), another really outstanding deal.

There are several Orly nail polishes to complete Cinderella's look, as well as a few London Soho New York cosmetic bags to carry it in.  Click this link to read all about the nail polish and makeup bags and see the pretty pictures.

This collection is available only at Walgreens, in-store and online.  I think it's totally adorable.  I've bought a few items but haven't had time to launch into them with Thanksgiving and decorating the house and all of that.  They sell out so fast that I just didn't want to wait.  The check out lady asked me, "how old is she?"  And I said my age.  And we both laughed.  I'll be back for more.

What do you think of the Disney Cinderella beauty collection?  Which Disney/Walgreens collection has been your favorite?

I Have Wanted This Set From Kiss Nails For So Long!!

I have been looking at this set longingly for SO long. You just have no idea. I've taken pictures of it thinking that I probably have all the similar type polishes to do this manicure, but I still just wanted this BAD. Fortunately, I looked at it one day at Fred Meyer and found it cheaper than at Walgreens. SOLD!! One happy mama!

I've been posting my Instagram pictures to my blog so you can see the items that I have coming up.  There are often a lot of comments on Instagram, so it's worth taking a look sometimes for more information.

Tell me, what is your favorite gradient color combination?  You can link to it, if you like.  I'd love to see.
