New! Wet N Wild Beauty Midnight Mermaid Collection

Dude!!  Walking through Walgreens, not really minding my own business, taking a quick route through the makeup aisle to the refrigerators on the other side of the store, I spied the new Wet N Wild Collection.  I was like whoa, and dude, and whoa!  I hadn't seen any reviews yet, so how could I decide which to get?  The result of anguishing over my decision is that I have swatches and a mini-review for you here today to assist you in your shopping choices.  I just bought it today so I've only had a chance to wear the highlighter and hope to have a full review in the future.

The collection contains:
3 metallic liquid eye liners, $3.99 ea
4 Catsuit metalllic liquid lipsticks, $4.99 ea
4 Color Icon metallic liquid eyeshadows, $4.99 ea
1 spectacular mermaid tail imprinted Mermaid highlighting bar in Mermaid Moon, $6.99
The whole collection at Walgreens costs $56.88 before tax.  There is a bit of a savings if you buy the full box for $35.99 on Wet N Wild Beauty.  I chose to purchase it on site in Walgreens where I receive points that accrue to cash back and not have to pay shipping.  That being said, with the cash back that I made from my points, it was virtually the same as ordering the box online from Wnw dot com.

Onto the swatch show:

The liquid liners come in a Trident's Shimmer, steely metallic grey...Sea Dreams, metallic navy and Sea Symmetry, metallic royal green.

The metallic liquid eyeshadows are kind of fascinating.  Lara's Necklace is a metallic green  color with a black base.  Aquatic Prism is a shimmering blue with a black base.  These two have metallic micro-glitter particles.   Looking at the colors, I anticipate that they will need to be eased onto the eye over the top of a shadow just like the Stila glitters.

The third color looks nearly olive in the tube but it is a shimmering grey with silver micro glitters and a black base.  It's name is Mysterious Nights.  The fourth color is Moonlight Majesty, a shimmering plum with a black base.

I swatched them as such:  top to bottom, Mysterious Nights, Moonlight Majesty, Aquatic Prism and Lara's Necklace.  The shadows have a nice duochrome look to them with the metallic on top of the black base.   As the light changes with the curvature of the lid, it lends to a natural halo type of effect.  In other words, you probably won't have to add a darker shade at the outer V because the formulation of this product will do the work for you.

The four Catsuit metallic liquid lipsticks are:  Siren's Jewel, metallic royal green, Sea Seduction metallic navy.  Harbor A Crush is a metallic plum and Coral Crown is a metallic burnished bronze.

When I swatched these, the green and the blue applied with perfection.  In order to get the same vibrant color, I had to double swatch the plum and the bronze, but again, I haven't worn them yet and if I know Liquid Catsuits, it won't be any problem whatsoever.

Here are the corresponding colors in the tube, just for curiousity's sake.

The comparison of the blues is very interesting.  The navy lip makes the blue eye look green in the tube in a picture.  To the naked eye, the blue shadow looks more aqua with a purpley duochrome especially next to the navy lip.

Onto the star of the show, the  Midnight Moon Mermaid Highlighting Bar.  I do believe this could be the stunning finish to any mermaid out there!

This is a fascinating highlighter!!!  I wasn't sure what to think when I opened it and looked at it.  It has a beautifully sculpted mermaid fin, that I was sure of.  But the color was so different.  In swatching this, I found it is definitely different than anything else I own.  It is a gold color with a faint hint of green undertone and some imperceptable pink micro-sparkles.  It melds together to give a beautiful glow that just pops on the cheekbones.   This is really a spectacular multi-dimensional highlighter that has to be worn to be believed.  It is not the typical warm orangey or peachy gold that is so prevalent on the market right now.

Let me know whatever questions you might have and I'll answer them in the future as I wear the products to see how they wear.  I like color so I can envision wearing a lot of these....but not at the same time!!  You can purchase Wet N Wild Beauty in most drugstores and on their website.  Follow them on Twitter, Pinterest, Instagram, Facebook, and Youtube.

Yeah so This Just Happened - Spring 2014 Wet N Wild Fergie Centerstage Collection

via Instagram

Check out the Vicious Varnish.  I bought a few, well ok, all of them to try.  I was kind of in a hurry so I didn't take the time to look at the BB tinted moisturizer or whatever is on the left.  Guess I need to go back to Walgreens!!

New Wet N Wild Display For Spring 2014

I was surprised today while in Walgreens to see this new display for Wet N Wild.

Wet N Wild, Spring 2014, eyeshadow palettes, lip stain, nail polish, mega rocks, mega slicks, Poster Child, glitter
via Instagram

I have pictures of the very top row of eyeshadows in the left side of the picture.  It really surprised me that the display held singles of their Color Icon creamy glitter eyeshadows that matched the regular Color Icon singles.  I suppose I should have gotten one to try because they are so inexpensive, but I didn't.

The next row contains the Mega Rocks glitter nail polishes.  I have purchased five to this point but haven't swatched them for you yet.  You can see some of those in this Instagram picture as well as this photo of the first two that I had purchased.

In the middle, you'll see the Mega Slicks lip stains.  Sorry for the fuzzy phone pictures.  I hope they're nice, moisturizing and last a long time because I bought all but the light beige.

Wet N Wild, Mega Slicks, megaslicks, Love stain, lips

Next to that, you'll find this glorious 8 pan eyeshadow palette.  Don't you just LOVE these palettes?????

Wet N Wild, Poster Child eyeshadow, palette, 8pan

Oh I love that palette!!!  It's like a whole brand new box of crayons to play with!!!  I originally posted the picture here on Instagram.   Blogger fail - I didn't look at the two polishes next to the palette because I fell so in love so fast.  But I'll take care of that error tomorrow.

And the last row contains the Powder Play 5 pan eyeshadow palettes that came out in December.

Wet N Wild, eyeshadow, 5pan, ColorIcon, palette

There's a lot to choose from.  Don't you just love Wet N Wild?  I love the neutrals as much as the brights.  And now that I've shown you the initial details, I guess it's time to swatch, right??

At Fred Meyer, I Saw New Wet N Wild Displays Set Out!!!

There they were, on the last day of 2013, with no one in sight to fill them. Talk about pure torture to a beauty blogger!!! I even went back six hours later and they were still empty. Well, at least we have 2014, right?!?!?!?!

MegaVolume - I don't know what this is!!!  Aggggh!  Mascara and lipstick duos, perhaps?  What else gives volume?  Lip plumpers?

In The Spotlight looks to be limited edition nail polishes and eye palette...*fingers crossed*

If you have ANY information, please let me know.  If it's not out Wednesday, there will be much weeping in the aisle.  I'm taking tissues with me.

New Wet N Wild Mega Rocks Large Glitter Nail Polish

Look what I saw at Fred Meyer today. Here we have a new collection of Wet N Wild nail polishes with large glitters. Some are multi-colored. At my store they are $2.99 and there is a $1.00 off coupon attached so be sure the checkout person gets the coupon off.

Pictures of the ones I purchased will be included later. I'm sorry this picture is so fuzzy. The display was down on the bottom and I'm having knee trouble so I couldn't squat down to get a straight on picture. And I guess I didn't see how bad it is until it was blown up larger on the computer.

Wet N Wild, Mega Rocks, On The Rocks, glitter, nail polish

I'm not sure quite yet why I didn't get them all yet, (except that my husband was with me), but I loved the dual colors of glitter in the blue and the pink that is also in the purple.  They are all glorious!!  I may end up with all of them yet!!!

Have you spotted this collection in your area yet?

Halloween Makeup Ideas From Wet N Wild Fantasy Makers

There are so many nifty pre-packaged options for Halloween makeup this year, I just have to show you some. The great thing is that a lot of these can be used all year 'round instead of only being appropriate on one day out of the year. I'm going to focus mainly on the Wet N Wild Fantasy Makers collection because there is so much of it!! And the prices are crazy good with great quality makeup. Some of the items I took pictures of in the store and some I brought home with me to use.

I'm especially smitten with the packages that contain Wet N Wild duo eyeshadows. Wet N Wild makes excellent shadows and hello, a RED!!! I need a good red eyeshadow...who doesn't? I'm happy to find an inexpensive one, considering how often I'll use it, and look, these sets come with false eyelashes, nail polish and a lipstick, too!

I thought the cream shadows with the stencils were a great and easy way to throw a costumed look together. Just get one of those cool and fairly inexpensive Halloween wigs and you're good to go. A few years ago, I would have had a lot of fun with these stencils every day picking my kid up from school, but he's too old to be seen with such a comedic mom these days, lol.

I think there's about six variations of the cream eyeshadow palettes. Many of the shades are repeated in them but if you were a true collector and wanted each color, you'd have to get them all. They're inexpensive enough that it's doable. You can get a few in the stencil kits and some alone. In general, I'm not a huge fan of cream shadows, unless it's a cream to powder type, but these are just for fun, for accents and I can use them all throughout the holidays.

I was tempted by the face and body tattoos. They're so cute! But when I read they had to be applied on clean skin, I knew I was out. I'll be having foundation or some kind of colored goo all over, so I passed, but they're really cute!!! There are several variations.

This display reminds me of movie night with the girls because it would be a real hootenanny to show up with all kinds of personality and glow.

You can purchase these really cool holographic micro shimmers that you can mix in makeup or nail polish. I bought a load of them last year. There are two spray on shimmer gels; one in clear and one that's purple. I got the clear last year, so this year, I got purple. I picture this sprayed in the butterfly stenciled look.

And if you love lashes, this is the perfect time to stock up. Fright Night has a bazillion kinds, from natural to vampy to funky. All kinds of fun can be had here.

So there you go. A whole lot of inspiration for Halloween makeup from Wet N Wild. I'm going to cover Halloween nails in a seperate post. I just love the practicality of these sets and how you can mix and match them. It's good quality and it's inexpensive. What's not to love?? Do you see anything for your particular Halloween this year?

Fred Meyer Is The "Drugstore" Cosmetic Mecca

That's a pretty bold statement in my title, don't you think? Maybe so, but I can totally back it up. Fred Meyer is a wonderland of all sorts for Pacific Northwesterners...Alaska, Washington, and Oregon residents. You may know a similar store named Frye's or Kroeger. Your special customer rewards card will work equally at all three chains as they're affiliated.

I love Fred Meyer. It came to my town when I was a kid, and as soon as I was old enough, I'd walk to it with my allowance and plunk it down for licorice and baseball cards. Times have changed, as have I, and now I drive over to fork over my moolah for clothes and the best of all the drugstore cosmetics. I prefer to grocery shop and buy housewares there too, but I never go without a wander thru the cosmetics and clothing sections and my men keep the electronics department in business.

But let's focus on the cosmetic department. They have all the standard stuff so you can find what you're specifically looking for...but ooooooooh, they have so much more. You know all the neat special edition stuff that comes out for every holiday and every so often as mini-collections? Yeah, they have all that. I can brag on our Fred Meyer stores in Anchorage for being among the first in the nation to have the Wet N Wild Dream Weavers Eyeshadow Palette Collection. Booyah!!

As drugstore cosmetics brands have upped their game with the latest in technologies and items to keep in trend, so has Fred Meyer. And in my area, they are going all out to keep the customer satisfied by bringing in what we want. They totally "get" us.

Look at what I found last week. I was really blown away. I didn't know this existed...

Fred Meyer has this new display of LED Gel polishes and LED lights to cure them. 36 colors!!! Plus LED Prep and Removers!! The colors are just $9.99 each and the portable curing lights are only $19.99. The best part of bringing a previously unreachable way to polish at home to the masses is that they do it WITH coupons!! Seriously!! Buy one LED color and get one half off. Fred Meyer rocks with coupons. There's almost always a buy one get one in cosmetics of one brand or another, and every week there's a 20% off clothing. Super kudos.

I went by today to pick up some office supplies. Of course I had to cruise through cosmetics and was delighted to see how they'd put extra effort into some of the Halloween displays this week. I thought it was cute and inviting. My apologies to the woman who wouldn't move so I could get a picture. >:p

Wet N Wild Cosmetics have become a drugstore favorite in the past couple of years. The pigmentation of the products is superb. And you can't beat the prices. The offerings are varied, interesting and fun. Fred Meyer rocks in bringing in the Wet N Wild. I don't even think our Wal Marts carry the line anymore. They are the cosmetics wasteland. So forlorn. Walgreens came to town last year and is cosmetically disappointing for SURE!! When there's a nationwide Wet N Wild sale at Walgreens, our Walgreens puts a tag over the sale price and charges regular price. Scammers!!!!! Anyway, you won't find these goodies anyplace in my town except Fred Meyer:

Of course, they carry the latest from other brands, too.

And look at the Color Club Fractured that I got there yesterday:

I would have taken pictures of the Loreal and Maybelline special displays but they've been out for a couple of weeks and are shopped out. Gee, I wonder who would have done that? :-0

I have to say I'm not big into Halloween but when Fred Meyer put out the Wet N Wild Halloween stuff a couple weeks ago, I bought a load. And then today, seeing the displays all spider webby, well, that just made me really excited to think about what will be coming from Fred Meyer and drugstore brands for Christmas!! I can't wait to start seeing pictures of the Christmas collections on the web!

Are you as excited to see what the drugstore brings as I am?
