This Winter Got Me All Walkin' In A Pixi Beauty Wonderland - Holiday 2016

You don't want to miss the Holiday 2016 offerings from Pixi Beauty.  I look forward to them every year and this year, they really knocked it out of the park, just like always.  If you've wished for a "one and done" palette, or the perfect on trend pigments, or perhaps that awesome classic red lipstick, this collection is for you.
holiday, fairy dust, lipstick, eye pencil, face palette,
(A little FYI - my post got disrupted by a couple of twisting falls that would put any gymnast in great envy, I'm sure.  I may or may not need another surgery on my knee, may or may not be determined by next week, but whoa, everything had to go into slo-mo for a little bit...dr's orders.  I feel so dumb...but the Pixi collection is everything I'd hoped it to be and more and I wanted to tell you go hurry and find it!!)

The Pixi Holiday items always sell out so fast at the Target stores in my area...I'd be kind of embarrassed to tell you how many times, and how many times a day that I was going to search for these.  I was thrilled when they arrived at my door.  I'd been showing them off quite a bit on social media as I wore them non-stop to develop my opinion for you.  You may still be able to find them in your local Target, well, especially the ones that are regular stock.

First up is the Palette Rosette, or Rosy Radiance,  Face Palette, $28.  This palette contains 8 eye shades, three for brows, and three face colors.  The lid marks each with the suggested use, making this a perfect gift for any level of makeup artistry, from beginner to expert.

holiday, fairy dust, lipstick, eye pencil, face palette,

Take this with you to the gym or work and you can use this one palette to go from day to nighttime with ease.  I love that it comes with the three brow hues on the bottom.  You have a light, medium and dark, a blonde, a warm tone and a cool tone all within the three colors.  This allows you to perfectly match your brows.

holiday, fairy dust, lipstick, eye pencil, face palette,

Here are swatches of the brow tones:

holiday, fairy dust, lipstick, eye pencil, face palette,

I'm going to interrupt my swatches for a second.  Pixi had also sent me some items to be able to create a #FlawlessInFive face.  These go perfectly with my Palette Rosette looks.  You might have seen the following picture on Instagram.

holiday, fairy dust, lipstick, eye pencil, face palette,

From left to right are the Endless Silky Eye Pen in Graphite Greige, ($12), Endless Brow Gel Pen ($11) in Medium, black Lengthy Fiber Lash Mascara, ($16),  and the amazing Mattelustre Lipstick in Classic Red ($12).  I want to insert these items and show them in the swatches.  The eye and brow "pens" are pencils, so just use them with a sharpener to keep them fresh.  The Endless Silky Eye Pen is a non-budging liner pencil.  It's everything I've been looking for!!!  I have such a problem with one eye running from allergies and this is the only liner I've used since moving to Phoenix that doesn't budge.  Pixi sent over the Endless Eye Pen in the color Opal Overcoat to put that shine to the inner corner when wearing a fabu look.

holiday, fairy dust, lipstick, eye pencil, face palette,

The Endless Brow Gel Pen in medium is a perfect fit for me.  It wears very well.  It's really hard to find a medium brown tone that isn't warm.  Most medium brown pencils are too red for me, but this is a great match.  It applies with ease and doesn't skip.  I'm really happy with this one, and I love the separation and length I get from the mascara as well.  It's hard for me to believe that such top quality comes with such a low price!!

Classic Red is a MatteLustre formula.  When these came out last year, I tried one and then another and another...you know, like potato chips.  The price is SO good but the quality is even better.  They are a comfortable matte lipstick that wears a long time and doesn't feel dry.  An absolute steal for $12!!  I already had purchased Classic Red, so I'm quite familiar with it and how perfect it is for wear with these products.  It is pictured below with the Holiday Fairy Dust sampler.

And let's show some swatches:

holiday, fairy dust, lipstick, eye pencil, face palette,

It occurs to me know that maybe I should have labeled everything, but I think you can figure it out.  From the left, on the top row, are the three eye contours, the day/night lid shades, the highlights and Classic Red lipstick.

holiday, fairy dust, lipstick, eye pencil, face palette,

The bottom row, from left to right, are the three brow colors, the Enhancing Contour, Cheek Blush and All-Over Glow.  Next is the Opal and Greige Endless Silky Eye Pens, followed by the medium brown Brow pen.  Add the mascara and you have a variety of endless sophisticated looks to take you from home to office to nightlife.

But then there are the Fairy Dusts!!  These are amazing pigments that can be used for eye shadow, wet as liner or foiled, or for a sheen of color to pop your look.  Use them on the lid or as a highlight anywhere.  I thought I had taken a million pictures of the look I did with them for my anniversary, but umm...it all went on Snapchat.  And I haven't taken others, well you know cuz I thought I had a bunch, but I'll do a subsequent post showing a look with these items.

holiday, fairy dust, lipstick, eye pencil, face palette, favorites, pigment

The Fairy Dust Favorites in this years stack are Sheer Peach Glow, True Bronze, Ruby Sheen, Sunkissed Amber and Black Pearl.  I love how they're stacked in a plastic container that you can take anywhere.  You should know that I never have fallout with these!!  Ever.  And spray a little makeup setting spray on some pigment on your brush and you have a brilliant foiled color for liner or lid, or pop in the middle of your lip for extra highlight.

holiday, fairy dust, lipstick, eye pencil, face palette, favorites, pigment

The first four pigments are high shimmer while the black is sparsly shimmered, as most people would prefer for liner.

I have swatches in full sun.

These colors are beautiful, long wearing, non-creasing, have no fallout, and completely on trend.  You can purchase full sized Fairy Dust pigments for just $10.  They're amazing.

Now you know all the reasons I was flipping my lid all over social media about these Pixi items.  They're so pretty!  They perform so well!!  And Pixi just got me all...

holiday, fairy dust, lipstick, eye pencil, face palette, favorites, pigment

You can find Pixi Beauty online and in stores at Target or online on Pixi's own website.  They have free shipping at just $25!!!  That's awesome.  Be sure to follow their social media on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest and Instagram.   Pixi is a cruelty-free company.  I'll be covering some Pixi skincare items in the near future, and you won't want to miss that.

What are your favorite Pixi items?  Are you fortunate enough to be able to shop at a Pixi Boutique or do you purchase at Target?

I Had A Tarte Attack - Tarte Cosmetics Ulta Exclusive Holidaze Greatest Glitz Collector's Set Swatches

My first item to introduce you to the Holiday 2015 season is the Tarte Cosmetics Greatest Glitz Collector's Set and Portable Palettes, ($49), exclusive to Ulta Beauty.  Tarte is a cruelty free, vegan friendly company and every year they put out a variety of really nice sets for the holiday season.  I missed the Ulta exclusive set last year and I didn't want that to happen again, so this set was the first item I purchased of the season.

The set consists of three palettes in neutral, rose gold, and smoky themes housed in a rose gold cardboard box which has a hidden magnetized closure and a full size mirror in the top.  Each of the three palettes contain .024 oz of eyeshadow and a .155 oz blush.  Also in the set, in a pull out drawer in the bottom of the box, are a deluze size Lipsurgence Lip Creme, (.056 oz.), and a deluxe size, (.13 oz), Lights, Camera, Lashes 4-in-1 mascara, my current favorite.

palette, blush, eyeshadow, Ulta, swatches
The box is quite sturdy and has a pattern of sequins in the corresponding gold, rose gold and smoky colors on the top.

Let's open the palettes and see the pretties!!

palette, blush, eyeshadow, Ulta, swatches

Each palette is easily removed from the box.  There were one or two eyeshadows that reminded me of last holiday's Sweet Dreams Bon Voyage Collector's set and one or two that reminded me of the Tartlette palette.  Having said that, I want to be clear that the shades are different.  They're not the same as earlier palettes, but a couple may remind you of some of your favorites.

The first palette on the left is the neutral themed palette.

palette, blush, eyeshadow, Ulta, swatches

My swatches are done outside on a sunny day.  Tarte always surprises me when I swatch the products because of the incredible pigmentation.  The colors are soft and swatch easily.  Many of them are very complex, to the point that the camera can't pick it up in a group shot.  I'm including a couple of different shots of my arm at different angles because, as you can see, when light hits the shades at different angles, it brings out different properties and shimmers.

I have swatched the Lipsurgence in Flashy on the right after the blush.

palette, blush, eyeshadow, Ulta, swatches

palette, blush, eyeshadow, Ulta, swatches

Flashy is the limited edition Lipsurgence for the Greatest Glitz set.  It's a nude rose color, universally flattering.

palette, blush, eyeshadow, Ulta, swatches

The rose gold palette is next in the set.

palette, blush, eyeshadow, Ulta, swatches

Again, I have several swatches of this palette.  As the light changes hitting it, so do the colors.  Sometimes the shimmer is more evident than others and also takes on a different tone.  Tarte has  complex shimmers that must be appreciated from different angles to get the full effect.  The two purples might remind you of the Tartelette palette but the Tartelette purples have more of a browned base to them.

palette, blush, eyeshadow, Ulta, swatches

The third palette has a smoky theme, with a matte purple-black and a matte soft black.  The color Mint Spring, (3rd from the left in the bottom row), has the least pigmentation in all three palettes.  It reminds me of a color in the Bon Voyage set from Holiday 2014 by sight, but when swatched, it's quite different and a greener grey than was found in Bon Voyage.

Tarte has one of the most extensive and intriguing holiday collections.  This palette is found at Ulta and is exclusive to that store.  SEPHORA has their own specific Tarte Holidaze Collection.   Macys and Tarte Online have a shared collection and some pieces that overlap with Ulta and Sephora.

I wanted to put swatches up as quickly as possible for you.  There is quite a variety of Tarte items for you to look at this season, and you'll want to investigate them all, I'm sure.  Tarte Cosmetics offers top quality long-wearing makeup, and there is surely something this Holidaze season for everyone.  Tarte is a vegan friendly, cruelty free company.  You can follow them on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook as well as other social media webbys listed on their site.  Be sure to search their hashtag #TarteHolidaze across all social channels.

Tell me what has caught your eye this holiday season and given you a Tarte Attack?

Scored My New Tarte Bronzer With ShopAtHome.com!!

ShopAtHome, swatches, pink, bronze, cruelty free, mineral clay

I can almost hear you thinking, "holy cow, what is that beautiful piece of artwork and how did Polarbelle purchase it with ShopAtHome?"  First of all, you're right....it's beautiful.  All the spring Tarte Cosmetics items have great artwork on the packaging.  The beauty is practically overwhelming and could easily be displayed around the house or on a vanity to be admired.

Behold the inside of the Tarte Cosmetics Park Avenue Princess Bronzer Blush in Pink Bronze, (.31 oz/ $30).  How in the world did anyone think of something so outstandingly beautiful?   Top that off with Tarte being cruelty-free cosmetics and this is a real winner!

ShopAtHome, bronze, pink, glow, swatches, cruelty free

Before I show you the swatches, I want to talk about how I purchased this with ShopAtHome.com.  I had seen the Bronzer Blush in a store and almost died on the spot because the beauty was so overwhelming.  I determined right there to own it but thought I should wait a few days due to some other purchases I'd brought home lately.  I swear my husband's new hobby is shopping bag counting.  Well, then a funny thing happened.  I should say life happened, cuz it wasn't too funny really.

Before I could get back to the store, I had an unexpected surgery on both feet.  It wasn't fun.  My plans to obtain this latest Tarte item flew out the window when the stitches were put in my toes.  I couldn't walk down the hall of the house and I knew I'd never make it back to the store for a couple of weeks.  Then I had some complications from restless leg, and blah, blah, blah....I had to go out of state for more treatment so I hadn't been able to walk by the time I left, much less go purchase my beloved.

Enter ShopAtHome.com, an online website offering thousands of coupons and different rates of cash back with each purchase.  I downloaded the ShopAtHome.com app and I was on my way to score my golden ticket, I mean Tarte Bronzer Blush.

I surfed through the app for hours, literally, looking at coupons and cash back rates.  It was pretty interesting as one thing I am all about is free shipping and ShopAtHome.com has MANY exclusive free shipping coupons when you shop through their site.

All you have to do is sign up with them, sign in when you go to their site and click through to your chosen shopping website.  Just make sure you click through on the specific coupons that you wish to utilize.  ShopAtHome.com sends your cash back out 12 times a year and they start sending it once you reach $20 back.

So I surfed around and found a lot of good deals but all I could really think about was the Tarte Cosmetics Park Ave Princess Bronzer Blush in Pink Bronze.  I'd waited so long!!!  I went to the Sephora site through the ShopAtHome.com app and ordered the Pink Bronze.  Ahhhhhh, finally I could relax and wait for "My Preciousssss" to arrive.  And in doing so, I am receiving 4% cash back through ShopAtHome.com.

Should we look at swatches?  I thought you might say yes.  Let me refresh you on the beautiful swirls and colors of this product, which comes in two different compositions, Pink Bronze and Peach Bronze.

ShopAtHome, bronze, pink, glow, swatches, cruelty free, mineralized clay

In the swatch pictures, I have numbered the different colors.  The lightest pink is 1, medium pink is 2, golden is 3, lightest brown is 4 and the deeper looking brown is number 5.

The swatch mixing the two pinks is labeled as A.
The swatch mixing the golden and the two browns is labeled as B.
The swatch at the bottom is a mix of all the colors together.

ShopAtHome, bronze, pink, glow, swatches, blonzer, blush, cruelty free

I would describe the colors as such:

1)  Light pink - A light slightly warm pink with a light pink glow.
2)  Medium Pink - A matte medium range peach toned pink.
3)  Gold - A yellowed wheat colored gold with a golden glow.
4)  The lighter brown - In the palette this is the lighter brown, but in swatches it is darker than the other.  It is a matte peachy brown.
5)  Darker brown - in the palette this is the deep brown.  In swatches it is lighter than #4.  It is a beautiful lighter tanned glowing color.

ShopAtHome, coupons, sale, swatches, cruelty free, mineralized clay

A)  The mix of the two pinks is a lovely glowing slightly peachy baby pink .  So pretty!!!
B)  The mix of the two browns with the golden wheat is a beautiful warm tanned peach with a golden glow.

The long swatch on the bottom is the mix of the whole palette.  It comes out as a terracotta toned peachy bronze with a golden bronze glow.  Add more pink to make it a little cooler.

I have to tell you that because this is made of mineralized clay and they way it is pressed with the pigments, it just GLOWS.  It doesn't have small shimmer particles that you see, nor does it look like shimmer on the face.  It's made of mineralized clay so it just GLOWS.  And It's a beautiful glow.

Just one more swatch picture:

Mineralized clay, cruelty free, ShopAtHome, coupons, sale

The bronzer blush gives me a great glow.  I like to mix more of the pink for myself or it can be a bit warm on me.  It tends to go warm anyway, and honestly, as long as I match the warmth on my lips and eyes, it looks fantastic!!  I use the bronzes with the gold in the typical bronzing patterns and use the pinks on the apples of my cheeks.

Give ShopAtHome.com a try.  I like that they have an app so you can access them anywhere!!  Doctors, pre-surgery, getting stitches out, whatever, lol.  Take a look around and tell me what you'd like to receive in the mail.  Do you have this Tarte Bronzer Blush?

New Kardashian Beauty Pumped Up Collection - First View

Somewhere deep inside me, when I saw this display at Ulta, I heard a little voice inside tell me wait till you go home and get these on a BOGO1/2 at Fred Meyer and you can have them allllllllllllll.......

However, I was swayed by the loud voice I heard that said "OH MY GOSH, CAN I SEE THAT DISPLAY?!!?????  THOSE ARE GORGEOUS!!!"  The lady at the cash register plopped down the brand new Kardashian Beauty Pumped Up display in front of me.  I heard a flurry of iphone pictures being taken and I was aglow in the beauty of the collection.  Was I surprised to find out it was my loud voice and iphone?  Nah.

So I had to buy some.  Then I had to go back and buy more.  I told my husband, "but it's my JOB".  Here is your first look and I'll get my multitude of pictures up soon.  I did exercise restraint, tho.....I put back one of the four blushes I wanted and a gloss.  Yes!  Victory for him...MORE Victory for me.

via Instagram

I have been impressed with everything I've tried from Kardashian Beauty.  No Joke.  Everything I've used, eyeshadows, lip products, bronzer, blush, highlighters...everything has been finely milled, perfect in application, nicely pigmented and wears all day.  Today I wore the blush in the front left side and the gloss on the back right.

I want to say so much more, but I'll save it for the full pictures and review.  Let me tell you this as I wait for them to load to my computer, if you see this display, just don't hesitate.  Get what you want.  As you can see, the display only has two of each, so I'm saying, (in my best Rocky voice), "Go For It.  I really don't think you could possibly regret these purchases.

Spring 2014 Brings Us Four New Nars Final Cut Blushes

I saw these in person and, (sigh), yes they are beautiful.  The Nars Spring 2014 Final Cut blushes will blow your cheeks off.  You can see them below.  There is the pale pink of Sex Fantasy and below it, the deeper coral pink of Love.  On the other side is the brighter coral Final Cut, and on the bottom is the bright pink of New Attitude.

Resistance is futile.  I bought Final Cut and Love, and had a rather large want for Sex Fantasy.  So pretty but I was a little worried of the chalkiness that was portrayed in the sample on the counter.  What was I thinking?  I KNOW I can handle that.  Want it!!!  You'll see my swatches soon.

By the way, I'm sure you'll be seeing my usual wearing of cosmetics VERY soon.  My latex blisters are almost healed after five months.  I've got a few deep stubborn hangers-on.  My skin is very thick, (not in the proverbial "oh, she's thick skinned" type of way), due to my autoimmune illness.  It's just a real drag as a beauty blogger.  But like it or not, I suspect my face will be back within a month.

Did you fall for the Nars Final Cut Collection?  I bought a couple of the lip pencils...had the palette but read my friend's reviews and returned it without opening it.  And I really would like that shimmer glow.  ooooooooooooooh!!!

My countouring Love! Chanel Accent Blush!!!

Chanel Accent has been in my hot little hands for about 4-6 weeks.  I hadn't tried it until today due to the mess of the latex allergy.

Accent is a deep rose plum.  It can be used as contour or a nice flush of blush.  I don't feel the cell phone picture is entirely accurate.  In my opinion, Accent is darker and plummier in real life.

Better pictures will be coming very soon!!

New For Spring 2014 - Maybelline Face Studio Blush and Bronzers.

This display features Master Glaze, the stick creme blushes that you see on the left.  And on the right is Master hi-light, which has four blushes and two bronzers. They're so pretty to look at, I just can't wait to swatch them.

I rarely use cream blush so I'm waiting to read reviews but I bought the whole right side out of curiosity.  The colors in the matrixes are so complex and beautiful that I can't wait to see what they look like blended, on the face and in comparison with each other.

December Ipsy Bag! Check It Out!!!

I always plan to show you my Ipsy Bag and I just haven't gotten it done at all this year...UNTIL NOW!!!  I have received some awesome items in the bags over the last year...including NYX blush, lipsticks, eyeshadows...Be A Bombshell blush...mind you, these are all full sized items...Sation nail polish, Zoya nail polish....AND MORE....

Here is the December 2013 Ipsy bag that I received.  I'm leaving my picture full sized so that you can drool as much as possible over the items.

Ipsy bag, eyelashes, eyeshadow, blush, nailpolish, lipgloss

(Originally posted via Instagram)

The sides of my picture were cut off in the Instagram photo to fit IG better.  But here are some things that you need to know:  A year's subscription to Ipsy is only $110.   To purchase an individual bag is just $10, so there's a $10 savings with the yearly price....did I mention you are receiving full sized items in each bag?

First, there is the bag.  This one is pretty nice.  Most bags are bout 5" x 7".  Love the shiny black textured outside and the hot pink inside.  Love!!!

The lipstick I received is NYX Cosmetics in the color Cream, (#607).  It's a frosted nude beige.  I love everything NYX.  I started buying them many years ago on trips to Hawaii where Longs Drugs was the only place I could find the brand.  I loaded up on pigments and eyeshadows.....bringing it to present day, I'm now able to buy a limited amount of their items at Fred Meyer.  Our two local Targets just received the brand this month but they seem to have trouble re-stocking NYX and Pixi.  It's.....so........sloooooooow.  Anyway, when I am out of state, I purchase from the full line of NYX at Ulta and one of my favorite places to shop for NYX online is Cherry Couture.  They often have fantastic sales.  You should definitely check them out.  Don't forget to shop the brand's own website NYX Cosmetics.com.  Sign up for their email and receive 25% off your first order.

I met with the NYX team at Cosmoprof North America this past summer and the one before and I'm telling you the products that were introduced this year are just killer and wait until you see what's coming up in the spring.  I'll be writing that up soon to let you know what I've discovered.

Lastly, about the lipstick, in the end cap is a matching lipgloss.  NYX Cosmetics truly has great products at great prices and I've received many awesome NYX items in my Ipsy bags.   Happy, happy, happy. You are also able to purchase these items and more from the brands on the Ipsy website.  Each bag contains a postcard featuring the brands of the month and information about the special discounts which often come  from many of them.

Be A Bombshell is a brand I hadn't experienced or heard of until Ipsy.  At this point, I've received a many different types of items from them and I've enjoyed them all.  It's a good brand and I've been impressed with the quality.  This month's bag includes The One Stick.  My color is Girl Crush, a light pink with a hint of golden shimmer, which is absolutely perfect for me.  I think I'd prefer this on my lips rather than cheeks just because I personally am not fond of cream cheek color.  However, this color intrigues me and I'm going to give it a try.  It looks beautiful and would be great for a classic wintery etherial look.  Use it anywhere you like for a wisp of color.  Layer it to make more of a statement, if you like.

Next is NickaK NY nailpolish in the color NY112, a taupe toned milk chocolate color. This goes well with the NYX round lipstick Cream.  I've also met with the Nicka K team at CosmoprofNA last summer and had a great visit.  It wasn't quite that way this last July unfortunately but I do love this nail polish.  She's a beauty!

Let's talk Pop Beauty! I was thrilled to find a Bright Up Your Life eyeshadow trio in my bag.  Mine is called Smokin' Hot and is perfect for this time of year, or anytime really.  It contains three shades of grey, from light to dark, with varying amounts of shimmer from heavy to slight.  You can also find Pop Beauty at Ulta and on Ipsy.

The last item in my already stuffed Ipsy bag is Ardell Natural Lashes, number 120 Demi, in the color black.  These are light and wispy and come with glue for application.   You can find these at virtually any store.  I usually buy mine at Sally's or at Fred Meyer when they do a buy one, get one 1/2 off sale; which is currently running thru December 21st, if you live in the Pacific Northwest.

There you have it:  Full sized items for just $10 a month!!!  Isn't it amazing?  And if you sign up for a year, you basically get one month free!!!  A year is just $110!!  WORTH IT!!!  If you use my Ipsy link, I will receive a few points and eventually will be able to use them toward a purchase.  Check out what's on their website and see if you might be interested.  This is the first time I've blogged my Ipsy bag, (shame on me but it's really been a rough year).  I have been completely satisfied with every bag I've received since I re-joined last March.

And the final note for this blog post that I have to tell you:  Ipsy has a series of questions that you can answer and the bags are catered to your preferences.  Holy great idea, Batman!!!  And you can change those preferences any time that you want!

Are you an Ipsy subscriber?  Which of the monthly sample services do you subscribe to?
