This Winter Got Me All Walkin' In A Pixi Beauty Wonderland - Holiday 2016

You don't want to miss the Holiday 2016 offerings from Pixi Beauty.  I look forward to them every year and this year, they really knocked it out of the park, just like always.  If you've wished for a "one and done" palette, or the perfect on trend pigments, or perhaps that awesome classic red lipstick, this collection is for you.  Pixi Beauty is a cruelty-free company.
holiday, fairy dust, lipstick, eye pencil, face palette,
(A little FYI - my post got disrupted by a couple of twisting falls that would put any gymnast in great envy, I'm sure.  I may or may not need another surgery on my knee, may or may not be determined by next week, but whoa, everything had to go into slo-mo for a little bit...dr's orders.  I feel so dumb...but the Pixi collection is everything I'd hoped it to be and more and I wanted to tell you go hurry and find it!!)

The Pixi Holiday items always sell out so fast at the Target stores in my area...I'd be kind of embarrassed to tell you how many times, and how many times a day that I was going to search for these.  I was thrilled when they arrived at my door.  I'd been showing them off quite a bit on social media as I wore them non-stop to develop my opinion for you.  You may still be able to find them in your local Target, well, especially the ones that are regular stock.

First up is the Palette Rosette, or Rosy Radiance,  Face Palette, $28.  This palette contains 8 eye shades, three for brows, and three face colors.  The lid marks each with the suggested use, making this a perfect gift for any level of makeup artistry, from beginner to expert.

holiday, fairy dust, lipstick, eye pencil, face palette,

Take this with you to the gym or work and you can use this one palette to go from day to nighttime with ease.  I love that it comes with the three brow hues on the bottom.  You have a light, medium and dark, a blonde, a warm tone and a cool tone all within the three colors.  This allows you to perfectly match your brows.

holiday, fairy dust, lipstick, eye pencil, face palette,

Here are swatches of the brow tones:

I'm going to interrupt my swatches for a second.  Pixi had also sent me some items to be able to create a #FlawlessInFive face.  These go perfectly with my Palette Rosette looks.  You might have seen the following picture on Instagram.

holiday, fairy dust, lipstick, eye pencil, face palette,

From left to right are the Endless Silky Eye Pen in Graphite Greige, ($12), Endless Brow Gel Pen ($11) in Medium, black Lengthy Fiber Lash Mascara, ($16),  and the amazing Mattelustre Lipstick in Classic Red ($12).  I want to insert these items and show them in the swatches.  The eye and brow "pens" are pencils, so just use them with a sharpener to keep them fresh.  The Endless Silky Eye Pen is a non-budging liner pencil.  It's everything I've been looking for!!!  I have such a problem with one eye running from allergies and this is the only liner I've used since moving to Phoenix that doesn't budge.  Pixi sent over the Endless Eye Pen in the color Opal Overcoat to put that shine to the inner corner when wearing a fabu look.

holiday, fairy dust, lipstick, eye pencil, face palette,

The Endless Brow Gel Pen in medium is a perfect fit for me.  It wears very well.  It's really hard to find a medium brown tone that isn't warm.  Most medium brown pencils are too red for me, but this is a great match.  It applies with ease and doesn't skip.  I'm really happy with this one, and I love the separation and length I get from the mascara as well.  It's hard for me to believe that such top quality comes with such a low price!!

Classic Red is a MatteLustre formula.  When these came out last year, I tried one and then another and another...you know, like potato chips.  The price is SO good but the quality is even better.  They are a comfortable matte lipstick that wears a long time and doesn't feel dry.  An absolute steal for $12!!  I already had purchased Classic Red, so I'm quite familiar with it and how perfect it is for wear with these products.  It is pictured below with the Holiday Fairy Dust sampler.

And let's show some swatches:

holiday, fairy dust, lipstick, eye pencil, face palette,

It occurs to me know that maybe I should have labeled everything, but I think you can figure it out.  From the left, on the top row, are the three eye contours, the day/night lid shades, the highlights and Classic Red lipstick.

holiday, fairy dust, lipstick, eye pencil, face palette,

The bottom row, from left to right, are the three brow colors, the Enhancing Contour, Cheek Blush and All-Over Glow.  Next is the Opal and Greige Endless Silky Eye Pens, followed by the medium brown Brow pen.  Add the mascara and you have a variety of endless sophisticated looks to take you from home to office to nightlife.

But then there are the Fairy Dusts!!  These are amazing pigments that can be used for eye shadow, wet as liner or foiled, or for a sheen of color to pop your look.  Use them on the lid or as a highlight anywhere.  I thought I had taken a million pictures of the look I did with them for my anniversary, but umm...it all went on Snapchat.  And I haven't taken others, well you know cuz I thought I had a bunch, but I'll do a subsequent post showing a look with these items.

The Fairy Dust Favorites in this years stack are Sheer Peach Glow, True Bronze, Ruby Sheen, Sunkissed Amber and Black Pearl.  I love how they're stacked in a plastic container that you can take anywhere.  You should know that I never have fallout with these!!  Ever.  And spray a little makeup setting spray on some pigment on your brush and you have a brilliant foiled color for liner or lid, or pop in the middle of your lip for extra highlight.

The first four pigments are high shimmer while the black is sparsly shimmered, as most people would prefer for liner.

I have swatches in full sun.

These colors are beautiful, long wearing, non-creasing, have no fallout, and completely on trend.  You can purchase full sized Fairy Dust pigments for just $10.  They're amazing.

Now you know all the reasons I was flipping my lid all over social media about these Pixi items.  They're so pretty!  They perform so well!!  And Pixi just got me all...

You can find Pixi Beauty online and in stores at Target or online on Pixi's own website.  They have free shipping at just $25!!!  That's awesome.  Be sure to follow their social media on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Pinterest and Instagram.   Pixi is a cruelty-free company.  I'll be covering some Pixi skincare items in the near future, and you won't want to miss that.

What are your favorite Pixi items?  Are you fortunate enough to be able to shop at a Pixi Boutique or do you purchase at Target?

I've Been Enjoying Pantone 2016 With Youngblood Cosmetics - Read On For More!

It's always fun when the Pantone color of the year is announced and we find out what colors will be big for the new year.   For 2016, two colors were chosen: Rose Quartz and Serenity Blue, a baby pink and baby blue that will coordinate well together.  Beauty mavens generally desire to work the Pantone inspired colors onto the eyes, lips, hair or fingertips and enjoy wearing the colors of the year.  Today I am bringing you some suggestions from Youngblood Cosmetics that I've been wearing to bust out my best Pantone 2016 moves!

My first foray into Youngblood, (a cruelty free luxury mineral cosmetic brand), was their cobalt blue mascara that you might like to read about.  I believe a good color of blue mascara is a staple in every makeup bin.  It's also hard to find, especially in a cruelty free brand.

All of the above brings me to today's feature:  Youngblood Cosmetics pressed mineral eyeshadow quads in Glamour Girl and Vintage, and Pink Lust lipstick.  (In the picture below, you can see where I slipped and dug my thumbnail into the top pink.  Ugh.  Long nails.)

Each eyeshadow quad, (4 gm / $43), can be used wet or dry and has matte, pearl and shimmery finishes.  The quads have a full mirror on the lid.  The shades apply well, blend easily and wear for a full day.  I didn't have any patchiness from the mattes, or any of the other finishes.  I found the colors to be well suited in the way they were picked for the quads.  I have my eye on another even as we speak.

I love that you can use the shadows dry or wet for an intensified look.  Let's look at Glamour Eyes first; the blue and brown quad containing the shades Enticing, Alluring, Stunning and Charming.

The next picture shows some use as I've worn this a few times already.

The swatches I have are all done dry...I apologize, I should have done them wet, too.  I'm just so used to swatching everything dry.

And then I swatched Pink Lust lipstick next to the quad.  The work SO WELL together!  Pink Lust is a really gorgeous peachy pink with some gold shimmer.  It looks warmer in the tube and on my arm than it does on my lips.  The first two pictures are in my studio set-up.

And the following picture is outside.  You can see in my pictures how the shine of the colors picks up in bright lights.  Look at the gold shimmer of the lipstick!  Mmmmmmm.

The lipsticks, (4 gm/$19), are also outstanding.  On my lips, the color lasts a really long time.  I can't really say how many hours because I drink water or soda constantly.  But hours.

How about a pinky kissy kissy?  I love this lipstick SO much.  It's a nice wet looking pink shine.

My third item to tell you about today is Vintage pressed mineral eyeshadow quad.

The coordinating pinks and mauves can give a sweet feminine feel.  Or pair it with the Glamour Eyes quad and create your own special look.  Vintage also plays nicely with my Pink Lust lipstick.

The first swatch picture of Vintage is taken outside in full sun.

The other two are in my studio.

Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics are formulated with minerals and are free from most allergens.  You can read more about the product formulas HERE.  You can follow them on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and YouTube.  You can subscribe to their newsletter and purchase at this link.

I should tell you there are some mineral brands I can't wear because they make me itch but Youngblood and I are a match made in Heaven.  The makeup is pure, smooth and doesn't cause me any skin problems.

Have you tried Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics yet?   What are you wearing on your face or nails to celebrate 2016's Pantone inspired colors?

December Ipsy Bag! Check It Out!!!

I always plan to show you my Ipsy Bag and I just haven't gotten it done at all this year...UNTIL NOW!!!  I have received some awesome items in the bags over the last year...including NYX blush, lipsticks, eyeshadows...Be A Bombshell blush...mind you, these are all full sized items...Sation nail polish, Zoya nail polish....AND MORE....

Here is the December 2013 Ipsy bag that I received.  I'm leaving my picture full sized so that you can drool as much as possible over the items.

Ipsy bag, eyelashes, eyeshadow, blush, nailpolish, lipgloss

(Originally posted via Instagram)

The sides of my picture were cut off in the Instagram photo to fit IG better.  But here are some things that you need to know:  A year's subscription to Ipsy is only $110.   To purchase an individual bag is just $10, so there's a $10 savings with the yearly price....did I mention you are receiving full sized items in each bag?

First, there is the bag.  This one is pretty nice.  Most bags are bout 5" x 7".  Love the shiny black textured outside and the hot pink inside.  Love!!!

The lipstick I received is NYX Cosmetics in the color Cream, (#607).  It's a frosted nude beige.  I love everything NYX.  I started buying them many years ago on trips to Hawaii where Longs Drugs was the only place I could find the brand.  I loaded up on pigments and eyeshadows.....bringing it to present day, I'm now able to buy a limited amount of their items at Fred Meyer.  Our two local Targets just received the brand this month but they seem to have trouble re-stocking NYX and Pixi.  It's.....so........sloooooooow.  Anyway, when I am out of state, I purchase from the full line of NYX at Ulta and one of my favorite places to shop for NYX online is Cherry Couture.  They often have fantastic sales.  You should definitely check them out.  Don't forget to shop the brand's own website NYX Cosmetics.com.  Sign up for their email and receive 25% off your first order.

I met with the NYX team at Cosmoprof North America this past summer and the one before and I'm telling you the products that were introduced this year are just killer and wait until you see what's coming up in the spring.  I'll be writing that up soon to let you know what I've discovered.

Lastly, about the lipstick, in the end cap is a matching lipgloss.  NYX Cosmetics truly has great products at great prices and I've received many awesome NYX items in my Ipsy bags.   Happy, happy, happy. You are also able to purchase these items and more from the brands on the Ipsy website.  Each bag contains a postcard featuring the brands of the month and information about the special discounts which often come  from many of them.

Be A Bombshell is a brand I hadn't experienced or heard of until Ipsy.  At this point, I've received a many different types of items from them and I've enjoyed them all.  It's a good brand and I've been impressed with the quality.  This month's bag includes The One Stick.  My color is Girl Crush, a light pink with a hint of golden shimmer, which is absolutely perfect for me.  I think I'd prefer this on my lips rather than cheeks just because I personally am not fond of cream cheek color.  However, this color intrigues me and I'm going to give it a try.  It looks beautiful and would be great for a classic wintery etherial look.  Use it anywhere you like for a wisp of color.  Layer it to make more of a statement, if you like.

Next is NickaK NY nailpolish in the color NY112, a taupe toned milk chocolate color. This goes well with the NYX round lipstick Cream.  I've also met with the Nicka K team at CosmoprofNA last summer and had a great visit.  It wasn't quite that way this last July unfortunately but I do love this nail polish.  She's a beauty!

Let's talk Pop Beauty! I was thrilled to find a Bright Up Your Life eyeshadow trio in my bag.  Mine is called Smokin' Hot and is perfect for this time of year, or anytime really.  It contains three shades of grey, from light to dark, with varying amounts of shimmer from heavy to slight.  You can also find Pop Beauty at Ulta and on Ipsy.

The last item in my already stuffed Ipsy bag is Ardell Natural Lashes, number 120 Demi, in the color black.  These are light and wispy and come with glue for application.   You can find these at virtually any store.  I usually buy mine at Sally's or at Fred Meyer when they do a buy one, get one 1/2 off sale; which is currently running thru December 21st, if you live in the Pacific Northwest.

There you have it:  Full sized items for just $10 a month!!!  Isn't it amazing?  And if you sign up for a year, you basically get one month free!!!  A year is just $110!!  WORTH IT!!!  If you use my Ipsy link, I will receive a few points and eventually will be able to use them toward a purchase.  Check out what's on their website and see if you might be interested.  This is the first time I've blogged my Ipsy bag, (shame on me but it's really been a rough year).  I have been completely satisfied with every bag I've received since I re-joined last March.

And the final note for this blog post that I have to tell you:  Ipsy has a series of questions that you can answer and the bags are catered to your preferences.  Holy great idea, Batman!!!  And you can change those preferences any time that you want!

Mac Fashionflower, Ever Hip, Growing Trend, Summer Shower Lipstick Swatches & Review

Mac released a new color collection called Fashionflower in the end of April 2011. Fashionflower is all one word, which seems unusual to me, but I don't make the rules. :) Today I have for you three of the lipsticks featured in this collection. They are, from left to right, Growing Trend, Ever Hip, and Summer Shower.

Photobucket

I swatched the three lipsticks in the same order in the following picture:

Photobucket

Growing Trend is a slightly cool toned nude in the Amplified Creme formula. I tried it with trepidation as I wasn't sure if it would be too light or too cool for me. Viva Gaga 2 was a bit dark to look like a natural nude on me, but there is mild success with Growing Trend.

Photobucket

Photobucket

I was curious how Growing Trend compared to my new favorite nude Revlon Fashion's Night Pout, and the not-too-wearable-for-me Viva Gaga 2. I swatched them with the Revlon at the left, Growing Trend in the middle and Gaga 2 on the right to give you an idea of the similarities and differences.

Photobucket

Here's a refresher on the Revlon that I posted a week or two ago:
Photobucket

I have reviewed Ever Hip in a post below as I had already purchased it from the Liberty of London collection. Here's a picture to refresh you, if you haven't seen it.

Photobucket

Summer Shower is a glaze formula with silver, blue and teal shimmers. Any lip product with blue or green shimmers is tops on my list. Those colors can plump up the look of a lip like nobody's business. I really love a light green over an orange lipstick. Blue shimmers give quite a glossy wet look.

If you're like me, you tend to get dressed and do your makeup without a care in the world until you look outside and see that the weather didn't cooperate with said outfit or makeup. If it's really windy outside, there's no way I'm wearing a gloss because I have long hair and it's just too messy and frustrating. I can beat the wind with a blue glaze lipstick! It will give a glossy wet look without the goo of being an actual gloss. C'mon, wind! I dare you!

Just for grins, I applied a waterproof lipliner, specifically Makeup Forever Aqua Lip number 10C, a plum color. I put Summer Shower over the top. Look how wet and glossy this looks with just lipstick!!

Photobucket

Summer Shower will save me from windy days. That and a hat or ponytail holder! I am curious to see this on more pigmented lips and see if it will tone the pinks and reds and give a natural glossy look. Don't be scared of light blue, it can really be your friend.
