Spring 2014 - Pixi Beauty Nail Polish Pictures and Review

Press Sample

Pixi Beauty has released three nail polishes for Spring 2014 and guess what?  I like all three!!!  There is the neon Oh So Orange, the lightly shimmery yellow Liquid Sunshine and the pale shimmering mint green named Lime Luster.  They are pictured in that order in the photo below.

review, swatches, Oh So Orange, Liquid Sunshine, Lime Luster

You can see the light shimmer that is characteristic of both Liquid Sunshine and Lime Luster. And you can see that on the left, Oh So Orange is a nearly traffic cone flourescent neon orange. What really surprised me was that Oh So Orange was my favorite of the set. I'd seen some pictures on Instagram and thought I would like the Lime Luster best. (It's my second fave in this group). So not only was I surprised to see the shimmers in Lime Luster and Liquid Sunshine, but I was really surprised by how much I adore Oh So Orange.

I am SO READY for summer with this color!!!!

All we need is some flip-flops, sunscreen, and sunglasses and we're good to go!!!

If you were to compare it right next to an orange traffic cone, I do believe the cone would be a shade brighter.  However, the coverage on this polish was amazing.  I'm a two-coat kind of person so I used two coats in all my pictures but this neon didn't need a white base coat to make it pop like so many do.  All three of these polishes are happy, happy, happy and you will feel your spirit lift as you wear these.

The next polish in my Pixi Trio is the delightfully sunny shimmer Liquid Sunshine.

Don't you just want to jump into your shorts and tank top RIGHT NOW?!?!?!

That's right...this is a full coverage yellow!!  That doesn't happen often.  The shimmer isn't perceptible to the eye really, but more just adds some luster to the nails.

The sheen is able to be seen a little more in Lime Luster, my second favorite from the set of three for Spring 2014.

Seriously!  Just so pretty, I totally die.  When I go to the beach or the pool, I put my hair up to keep it from getting wet and kinky frizzy.  So add a hair clip and I am totally ready to go!

These three beautiful nail polishes can be found for just $8.00 at Target and Pixi Beauty on-line.  Be sure to follow Pixi on YouTubeInstagram, and Facebook.

Which is your favorite?  Do you have other Pixi Beauty nail polishes that are your favorites? (Confession: I have my eye on Baby Girl and LA Blue!!)

Dermalogica Skin Hydrating Booster Review

Today we're going to talk about Dermalogica Skin Hydrating Booster, ($56/1fl oz), which I was invited to sample by IFabbo. IFabbo is a blogging group that I am fortunate to belong to. The first thing I want you to know is that I have no pictures of my own. Sad face. :( Don't you just hate reviews without pictures? Yeah, I do too. I was recently out of state and this somehow got left behind, but I was able to try it before it walked away to someone who seemed to need it more. (That's the story I'm telling myself because it makes me feel better).

skin care, serum, review, Ifabbo

I used this as a serum, putting it on after cleansing and before moisturizing. It has Hyaluronic Acid, Panthenol, Glycolipids and Algae Extract that work to help restore moisture balance, helping to relieve dryness, making those nasty fine lines plump up and look better. I found that this did help my dryness when I used it in conjunction with my regular regimen, and you should know that I have really dry skin. Also, it has a light lavender scent, which I really love, but a lot of people may not. The scent doesn't linger, so you can't use it for your scent of the day. ;) Use this as you would any other serum, applying it to skin and throat areas.

There are a lot of reviews for the Dermatologica Skin Hydrating Booster online and I'm sure you can find one that matches your skin type.  You can purchase this on the Dermalogica website as well as places like Amazon.

Another Surgery...

Yo, yo, peeps...I had to have another unexpected surgery last week.  I think I'm going to be posting regularly soon but boy oh boy, my poor computer has just been sitting all lonely and alone.  This is my 3rd surgery in the past 11 months and my sixth in two years.  The morale of the story is don't ever have any kind of accident.

Anyway, I'm not really someone who puts all kinds of personal information on the interwebz but I just really want you to know that I miss my readers and the interaction and I think of you every day.  I do have some great things I want to tell you about.  I'm starting physical therapy for this latest incident Wednesday and I know that will wear me out some too, but I am determined to report of some things that make all of this a bit easier.

Take care, my peeps and know that I haven't forgotten you.  <3

I am unable to reply to comments...

I wanted you all to know that I read and appreciate every comment on my blog.  I appreciate the time it takes to stop and make that comment.  I have been unable to respond to them online, via my phone and via the Blogger App.  I'm not sure what's wrong but I'm looking into it.

Please know I'm not ignoring you and I hope to have this glitch figured out soon.

Studio Gear Hydrating CC Color Correction Cream in Natural Swatches and Review

When I was offered the chance to test Studio Gear Hydrating CC Cream, I was pretty excited to try it and see how this CC cream actually works.  (CC stands for color correcting).  I received a full sized 1 fl oz, ($34), of the SPF 20 CC Cream in the color of my choice, which was Natural.

The Studio Gear Hydrating CC Cream comes in Linen, Natural and Wheat.  I am a light to medium toned person with beige undertones and while my skin is fairly light most of the year, my beigey-ness lends me to usually wear a light-to-medium toned foundation.  I picked the middle color, Natural, and it is a perfect match for me.

Imagine my surprise when I squeezed some product out of the tube and it was WHITE!!!

The CC Cream contains micro-encapsulated pigments which when rubbed on the skin, transform to match each person's own skintone.  I'd love to see the two other colors to see if they would match me in some fashion, too.  I wonder how far the transformation goes.   Below you will see that I began to spread the little dot around on my hand.  At the bottom of the picture, you can see a couple places where the CC cream starts to make the transformation into my skin color.

After rubbing it completely into my skin, you can see that it matches perfectly with a hint of sheen left to give a natural looking finish.

After the product dries a little more, it becomes a little more matte.  It gives a nearly medium coverage and if you have any deeper red spots, you'll still need a concealor to cover them.  Apply daily over your moisturizer, or by itself as needed.  Use alone or under another foundation.  I use this alone.

What They Say:

Hydrating CC Cream transforms and enhances your complexion in an incredibly light, smooth formula. This foundation simultaneously fights aging, retains moisture, and covers and treats blemishes with a non-oily, perfectly radiant finish.
Key Benefits:
  • Protects:  SPF 20 protects the skin, while Hydra-Extend technology provides moisture for up to 72 hours.
  • Perfects:  Enjoy natural looking coverage while micro-encapsulated pigments perfects and fade dark spots and acne scarring.
  • Corrects:  Anti-aging and collagen building ingredients help minimize fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Hydrates:  Hydra-Extend technology provides up to 72 hours of continuous hydration.
  • Conceals:  Micro encapsulated pigments deliver a fresh dose of color that adapts to your own skin tone, creating the most natural looking coverage.
  • Smoothes:  Skin nourishing ingredients help to correct and maintain youthful complexion.

My Evaluation:

I really like this CC Cream.  Really.  I'll be repurchasing once I am done with this one.

The idea behind BB and CC creams is that when you use them in the long term, they are supposed to nourish and brighten skin, evening the complexion to provide a more youthful look.  I have only had this about a week, so I can't attest to the long wear properties but I do know that I like the finish and the coverage and look forward to seeing what the long term effects are.
