The Perfect Holiday Red Gel Polish - Gelish Good Gossip

So before Christmas, I wanted to do a really cool nail art manicure, using Gelish Good Gossip as the base.  I applied the base and a coat of polish, then another....I looked at my nails and said "oh my gosh what a beautiful color!" and ditched the nail art ideas and wore this delicious red instead.

review, swatches

I wasn't prepared for the terrifically holo scattered red lights inside.  The polish gives the look of layer after layer of shiny red Christmas lights.  It's so much more beautiful in person than pictures.

I hoped showing it under different lights could bring out the glowing effect of the red specks inside.  They just glow like Christmas lights.  It's a bright and beautiful color.

It's just crazy pretty and sparkly without glitter no matter how you look at it.  This is two coats of Good Gossip and applied using the Gelish lamp and treatment system.  I LOVED wearing this!!

Gelish Mini's can be purchased at Sally Beauty Supply for $12.99 each, and the cost is a little cheaper if you are a beauty club member.  I loved wearing this as you might have seen on my social media.  Gelish just never fails me.  I wore this for 12 days when I got really ancy for a color change.

Did you have special Christmas or other holiday makeup or manicures?  Feel free to share what you did below.  Do you do gel polish at home?

  1. I have never heard of Gelish, but now I'm really wanting to try it out. Just last Monday I got a gel manicure and yesterday it started peeling on me. I had to unfortunately soak them off, which was such a bummer. I'm a huge fan of doing my own nails anyway, so I feel this would be a great product for me! Thanks!

    1. Oh no!!! At a salon? I hope they re-did it since it came off right away. I love doing it at home. It's so easy!

  2. What a gorgeous polish! I love those jellies. I have never tried an at-home gel mani. I'm so lazy but your results look well worth it!

    1. It's really easy!!! I don't do it as often as I like because I know I get ancy for a change after a few days. But I almost always do a clear gelish for a base to protect my nails no matter what else I'm wearing

  3. This is beautiful This is beautiful nail polish!!! My girls have gotten really into doing their nails this year so we are always looking for new colors to try out for them. I love that the glitter is in this one, I hate doing another layer for the girls to have a sparkle.

    1. The good thing about the glitter in this one is that it's actually shimmer particles that can't be felt or stick up on top. It's completely smooth.

  4. That red is stunning!

I did blue and silver over Christmas, a departure from my normal red, gold and green theme. :D

    1. It's so beautiful!!! The way the polish is formulated it's like endless layers of holo way down to the center of the earth. It seems like there's a million layers in just two coats.

  7. Stunning color! I couldn't keep polish on for 12 hrs, much less 12 days, but I couldn't think of a better color for the 12 days of Christmas!

    1. I had planned a couple manicures of nail art but I bought this on and it was so beautiful!!! And so complex in its simplicity - I just could t bear to remove it until I knew for sure I was ready for the next color

  11. This nail polish would go perfect with the dressy shirt I wore to our Christmas family gathering. The sparkle is eye-catching, yet subtle. I might just paint my nails more often, if I had a pretty shade like this to show off.

  12. That's a gorgeous color! I love anything holo. I used to be SO into nail polish, buying over 300 bottles, but I snapped out of it when I had to move them from my old house to my new one and I was like "what have I done?!?!" haha

  13. This shade of red looks glamorous and one that's bold enough to complete a classy outfit. What about chipping of nails? Usually, how many days do you keep a nail polish color? I think 12 days is average for most people.

    1. I had no chipping with it at all. With gels, I can usually get at least 20 days but the look of the grow out will bother me.

Generally, with regular polish, I'll wear it anywhere from 2 to 8 days, depending on what's going on. With gels, I mentally commit to at least a week. I often change polishes for the blogging business so I don't wear them all as long as I can. AmywAy, it depends on what others are waiting to be swatched and how ancy I get as an artist to see a new color

  14. I haven't heard of Gelish before, but I do like the look of a sparkly polish. I think the name 'Good Gossip' is really cool for a polish. I rarely do my fingernails…mainly because they are shaped weird, and never grow long and pretty.

    1. When I started doing gels, I often wore a clear gel coat when I didn't wear polish. That's helped my nails to grow long and strong
